Chapter 3.12 - Mei - My Stardust

I did everything I could. I called his name for probably hundreds of times and no response at all. He tried to save me. In return, he sacrificed his own body. He didn't even say any farewell to me. It all happened so fast. I couldn't believe he would do that for me. I started to tear up the moment I saw his face. His eyes was closed and his breathing was...nonexistent. His back was impaled by a chandelier. His legs was frozen solid. Without thinking much, I believed that he was dead. It was all over. This was the end I thought to myself. This was the end for someone that I really cared. This was the end of him. The end of The Stardust.

I continued to cry until I heard Sonozaki's voice, "White! Mei! Are you there? I can sense Mei's Infinitum but yours suddenly stopped! What happened!"

I called him, "Sonozaki! Over here!"

"Thank god." Sonozaki heard it and went to our position and...

"..."

"Oh god..."

As much as I wanted to cry for him, but crying won't make him come back to life at all. It's impossible. Healing magic won't work at all. Healing magic only works to those who was still breathing but his heart wasn't beating at all. This was all my fault. If I wasn't so clumsy, I would of not fell down and hurt my ankle. Yes, this was indeed because of me. He wouldn't be so protective of me if I have not been such a baby to him. I see it now. I killed him.

Few minutes have passed and everyone in the squad has been informed of what happened. It was obvious that all of them would be shocked when they found out that the one who was leading them was now found dead. He was a brave person. He was brave enough to lead a squad of 7 problematic students.

"What are we gonna do now?" said Luther.

Sonozaki took a deep breath and said, "We finish what we start."

"What are you talking about, Sonozaki? Don't you see what's going on?!" Rika was overflowing with strong emotions. "Why should we even finish what we start?"

"Rika!" Rin grabbed her.

Faith looks at them and said, "Listen up guys, we should move the chandelier first."

Everyone took Faith's suggestion and pulled out the chandelier from White's body. Faith helped me by her arm and placed me to somewhere safe in the building.

"It's alright. Just sit here and don't get yourself involved. We got this." Faith tries to calm me down.

"I can't look at him." Rika turned her back.

"Rika! Listen up, he would definitely want us to keep moving if he was still alive and kicking." said Sonozaki as he begins to wipe his face slowly.

"You two should stop arguing." Rin intervenes.

"You shut up!" Rika retaliates.

Rin replies back, "How dare you raise your voice to me."

Haz tries to stop them, "Okay. Okay, are we done here? We should stop and think. This is not the time to be irrational."

"Irrational?" Luther steps in, "All this time you have been too focused about your 'invention' and you dare say anything about irrational?"

"What do you know about my invention?!" Haz was riled up, "Even he approves of my inventions. He believed in me! Not like all of you!"

Everyone started arguing with each other over who was right or wrong. This somehow reminded of something from 2 months ago. When the strategist, Rulend was arguing with his general, Blax. They were arguing about some food. They argued and argued until suddenly...

-

"I think that's enough from you two..." he came in. "How about we just focus on what matters the most and that is, is it edible and nutritious for us to eat?"

"Well, both of our suggestion can be eaten..." said Rulend.

Blax also replied by saying, "But mine taste better though."

Rulend raises his eyebrows to Blax, "Yeah right?"

"Okay. Okay. How about we just settle this with something more simple and not something too elaborate for us to prepare. We are in a war you know. We don't have time to eat something luxurious."

Just like that, he stopped those two from arguing even longer. I was the taste tester for their recipe by the way. I wanted to be nice to them but I somehow made them argue over each other. I figured that was all my fault that it happened. But then he came to me and said it was all okay. I don't need to think too much about it. He said that it wasn't solely my fault for being considerate when giving opinions. We just have to be honest and give a straight answer in order to end such nonsense. Even if it may hurt another.

-

That was what I believed and so I stood up, "Enough everyone!"

Everyone stopped arguing. Faith who wasn't arguing with them whispered to me, "Good luck, girl." she crosses her arm and leaned on a wall.

She fully trust me that I will be able to handle this situation. I'm determine to do so. I will do what he would of done."

"Guys. Please stop fighting. He wouldn't wanted that. Like Sonozaki said, we should go and finish what we started. He wanted to end this war. He sacrificed for us just for that. What about you guys?"

Faith walks next to me, "She's right. You guys are like a chicken who lost its head. Calm the heck down, please. We need to stay focus. We can't surrender now."

I continued Faith's speech, "We must end this war. He did everything he can for our future. We will return our stolen future by ending this war!"

Everyone finally agrees to continue and finish the operation. Their next task in the operation was to surround the enemy that was already inside the school square. That will totally end this conquest of ours for sure. Which will result in the first step to our victory against the demon.

"Good job, girl." Faith patted my head. "Now stay here and keep an eye on him."

"I will wait for you guys."

Faith nodded, "Just don't do anything that will make him disappointed, okay?"

"I promise."

Faith nodded again and walks away from the building together with the other. They have began their next task. I know I said I promise but in actuality, I didn't kept my promise at all. What did I do once they have left? I went to the world inside the Dimensional Bag to look up for something inside my storage. It didn't take long until I finally found what I wanted and that was a book. It was one of those forbidden magic book.

I tried to find something that could return him back to this world. Indeed, I did found a forbidden magic that could revive him back to life. But there was one problem. I have to sacrifice all my memory of him. Every single part since the moment he opened that locker to help me escape. He will return back here but then I won't remember anything about him. He will be a stranger to me. He will be just another student. It was a sacrifice. A sacrifice that I reluctantly had to do.

But I have to do it if I wanted to revive him. I given it a long thought and realised that he would even be sad if he found out that I don't remember him at all. I think I should write something and put it inside my dimensional bag. Maybe that would help me on what I should do next. Once I finished writing down all that I wanted to preserve inside a book, I threw it inside my dimensional bag.

With everything have been said and done. I begin to prepare doing the forbidden magic that will return him back to life. It was really fun knowing him. From the moment you opened the locker and harassed me to the moment you sacrificed your life just for me. I was happy for all of that. Except for the harassing part. Anyway, I wouldn't have come to know this world if I wasn't saved by him. My Stardust.

Being one with the many collective pieces of a remains of a star doesn't mean that you are unimportant. It means that you still were a part of something important. Something that will totally make you keep on going no matter the obstacle. You will keep on enduring knowing the dangers of such a world. You will keep on believing on the things that is right for you. You are free being stuck from a single star. Now you are among the dusts that shines the beautiful sky alongside the others up in the world above.

I've read on something that I have always been curious about. I was reading a book about emotions and I found that this one emotion was very special. If there was one thing that I would say to him to express it to him about this emotion, there could only be these words...

"I love you...White......Thank you..."
