The Two siblings

The bright sun revealed itself once again deep within the valley where the people of Greenland resided. Lots of residents rose to their feet with joy in their eyes, glad to be given another opportunity in life and their daily activities continued once again.

Yu jin and Rose had already left to bring back firewood. Mr Seul who was Yu jin and Rose's father and also happened to be a doctor left to pay his regular visits to his patients.

A couple of hours later, Yu jin and Rose returned with the firewood.

"Yu jin, Rose, you're back early!" said Yu jin's mom with a gentle smile on her face."And it looks like Rose once again has brought back more wood than you have Yu jin." Yu jin exploded at his mom for praising Rose and not he"That's only because she had someone to give her a hand..." Said Yu jin not wanting to admit defeat. Yu jin's mom let out a loud laugh at his response.

Rose showed no sign of emotion on her face and walked into the house through the back door while Yu jin followed with rage on his face not wanting to admit defeat. Yu jin was sixteen years old while Rose was fourteen. However, Rose always excelled at everything she took part of while Yu jin came second no matter how hard he tried. The village chief who regularly visited the Seul residence always took pleasure in teasing Yu jin. After breakfast, the two siblings left to play with the other children. Rose's friends came for her as did Yu jin's. However, a few minutes later, Yu jin excused himself away and sat silently at the bottom of a tree. Rose noticed and left for Yu jin without giving a word to her playmates. "What's the matter Yu jin." She asked,but within a few seconds later,she had already found her answer."Don't tell me you're thinking about the outside world again. If mom or Chief Shadis finds out, you're gonna get a big scolding."

"You're not saying a word!" said Yu jin to Rose"Who said I was going to. I'm just saying you have to give up on that, because there's no way you'll be allowed to leave the village. Remember what Dad said..."

"Yeah, yeah I know, the outside world is filled with wicked and unreasonable people who only do things for their selfish gain." said Yu jin quoting the exact word of his father."Good" sad Rose.

After that Yu jin rose up and left without saying a word. During supper, everyone on the table interacted happily with each other except Yu jin who just sat still staring at his food. "Yu jin" Mr Seul called out but received no response or attention from him."Yu jin!" He called out again. This time Yu jin quickly responded to his father's call."This is so unlike you. Did you have another fight with Rose?" he asked"No" Yu jin replied."Then tell what is bothering you because i know you don't keep things to yourself." Seeing Yu jin still remained silent she swallowed the rice ball in her mouth and begun speaking."Yu jin is thinking of leaving the village to the outside world.""What!" Yu jin's mom exploded"Rose! you said you wouldn't say a word.""How many time have I told you that the outside w..." Already aware of his mother's incoming words, Yu jin cut himself in and begun to speak in a rush."Yeah, I know all that. But I don't believe everyone in the outside world is evil. I heard that there are many cities with building as tall as the eye can see and magic chariots and a lot more other things. we can't all live here farming and eating for the rest of our lives, we have to go out there." When he was finally done, his mom who was now short of words burst out into tears and left the table. Mr Seul however did not say a word.

The meal suddenly came to an end and everyone dispersed to their separate locations except Mr Seul. Rose followed her mom into the kitchen to help with the chores.

As for Yu jin, he walked up to the nearest tree and sat under the apple tree near the house.

After sitting down for a few minutes, he finally spread his body down on the ground and begun staring at the night sky.Yu jin had no success in deciphering why his parents were so hard on him.

He just couldn't wrap his head round it.Why wouldn't they also consider his idea and understand that the world is an exceedingly large place and not every person in the world was evil. Of course there had to be wicked and unjust people who committed unreasonable, selfish and unjust acts without considering the welfare of other people. Or perhaps there was just something his parents were too terrified of to mention. If that was the case, who wouldn't. One would definitely do all it took to protect one's self and family. But then again, it wont be enough to extinguish Yu jin's curiosity. If there was something ominous out there he would face it directly and become everyone's hero.
