Handsome husband.

In life, there are some things which are not meant to be finished in a day. It's impossible to do it. After days of intensive exploration to whip out boredom and the curious stares of the servants, Carrissa sat dejectedly in the vineyard, she relished the heavenly taste of the grapes.

This became her favourite place when she first stepped foot into this palace. The place was calm and somehow reminded her of home. The grapes also tasted good.

One after the other, she realized that she had consumed a whole branch.

None of the beings of the lower echelon of the palace were allowed entry into the vineyard, thus they could only dream about it from afar while dreaming about how it would feel to sit in the vineyard and enjoy the fruits.

As she enjoyed the fruits, her mind drifted to her current marriage. It's been less than a month but she could feel her hatred intensifying.

Her husband was a narcissist and a bully.

She wondered how the people would feel if they got to know that the king whom they held dear had these characteristics.

An evil smile settled on her face and she looked like she was going to destroy someone's day for her happiness.

"Whatever they wouldn't believe it even if the King admits it. Those people are loyal fans." She thought aloud.

She wondered why the King had not made any attempt to touch her, the strange thing was he was always in the same chamber as her.

Did he have another mistress? She didn't mind though but he should have made her aware so that she could also bring in a man.

A decorative wife must also enjoy, right?

She had heard rumours about the King being a womanizer, they said he loved women and enjoyed pleasure.

So why didn't he touch her? Was she not attractive enough? She started questioning her looks and overall appearance.

She knew she could be called the number one beauty in the kingdom. No, this was not arrogance but it was her spilling facts.

Carrissa had a charm which no woman in the kingdom had and even though she was nineteen, her body was quite mature than her age. Her perfect bosoms and backside were enough to make gods cry out in lust. Her waist-length black hair flowed quietly behind her.

She had to ask him what was wrong. She couldn't bear it anymore. Before that, she saw a figure slithering in the bushes. She squinted her eyes to get a clear view but the being had already left.

Surprisingly she didn't feel any fear even though she had a rough idea of what creature it would be.

She felt lost when the creature left, and her heart hurt.

She felt as though her lost kin had left again.

Ever since she got into this palace, strange phenomena had been occurring around her.

Was this palace cursed or was one of the inhabitants a ghost? She had read a few fictional books and she loved it. She wished one of her theories were right, she couldn't wait to see any of them.

She gave an excited smile before walking back to the mansion which was quite a distance from the garden.

On the way, she thought about how to begin the topic with her dear husband. She couldn't continue like this. Her self-esteem was lowering day by day. She had to question him so that she could be free.

By the time she got to the castle, it was lunch. The King usually skipped lunch as he was busy with other matters.

Carrissa stared at the food on her plate and began eating.

"Does the king have any relatives?" Carrissa picked up her meat as she stared at Helios, the royal butler.

He was a lanky guy, seemingly in his late thirties and was quite good-looking. She wondered how such a good-looking man landed in the royal palace but upon seeing his behaviour she knew that he was handpicked.

He had an expressionless countenance and spoke less but worked hard.

"None." The butler responded curtly, he seemed to be unbothered that she was the Queen and she kinda liked it

"None? What happened?" She asked as it was hard to believe. I mean how would an eighth-generation king have no relatives?

"Nothing happened, he had none from the beginning," Helios responded, that he didn't seem bothered that Carrissa was curious and her curiosity may lead her to find out that they are not normal beings.

Carrissa thought hard when she was eating. She thought that a relative was there to tell her about how the King was but unfortunately, there was none which was even more mysterious than the King breathing out vapour on a sunny day.

Carrissa walked towards the meeting room which was on the first floor of the four-storey castle.

As she descended the grand staircase, she caught a glimpse into the room as the door was left open.

She saw Auric seated on a large couch while Odin sat opposite him and their guest was on the opposite seat.

Even working, Auric looked handsome. He looked so damn serious that it made Carrissa's heart skip a beat. She may hate him but that doesn't mean that she doesn't appreciate beauty when she sees one.

He still wore that cold expression during the meeting and she wondered if he ever smiled.

Even though he was cold and uncaring, he still had a handsome face.

Auric felt an intense stare and turned to look at the door only to see the human he married a week ago ogling at him. He smiled internally, he was among the top three handsome men in the Heavenly layers so it was normal but for this, he felt proud.

He shifted his eyes so that she could keep ogling but Odin, the meticulous observer saw everything and he smiled.

"Grand Duke Jacques, thank you for your hard work. Keep me updated on the matter." Odin said when their meeting was over. He saw the man out. Both men gave a respectful bow to Carrissa when they saw her and Jacques couldn't help but be marvelled at her beauty.

Carrissa entered the room when she saw the guest leave. She saw Auric pouring himself some wine and he sat down without serving her some.

'What a mannerless and platonic man. " she thought. She sat on the opposite couch and stared at him. She could tell that the man knew she was here for questions but he didn't seem bothered.

Carrissa stared at him for a few minutes before she started." Why did you marry me? " Carrissa began.
