For Arthur, the idea of Beatrice being cursed was completely unreasonable. He had grown up with her, and he had never seen anything strange or unusual about her.
If someone was cursed, he believed there would be clear evidence, such as a mark or some kind of supernatural entity involved.
Richard felt frustrated at his brother's stubbornness. "That's not how curses work, Arthur," he said, his voice rising.
"They don't always leave physical marks. And besides, you grew up with Beatrice. You should know that she's not like other people. There's something different about her."
Arthur shook his head, his disbelief evident on his face. "I don't believe it," he said. "There has to be some other explanation. Maybe it's a medical condition, or maybe she's just sleeping."
