Chapter 25

“I’m ready,” Scott said, returning to the room the normal way, by walking. He was dressed in jeans and a T-shirt—part of the collection of clothing Zoran had purchased for him, as he’d owned nothing but what he been wearing when Zoran took him from the club. Zoran was a bit more formal, in that he had on slacks and a button-down shirt.

“You look quite handsome,” Zoran commented as they walked to the gardens behind the mansion. “Follow me, and if you begin to tire, let me know. I’d rather not watch you fall like Icarus.”

“Yeah, I think I’ll pass on that.”

They went invisible—something else Scott had learned to do—then took off for New Orleans.

“He certainly looks the part,” Craig commented when the tour guide appeared. The man, who introduced himself as Edwin, wore a long black cape, and had dark hair that hung well below his shoulders.
