21. How could you?...

The door bell rang...

"I think you should get that., I'm not expecting anyone this morning., so it should be for you... Grace said as she strode to the kitchen... Vanessa quickly looked around for the door., she reached it., and was about to open it but then she got scared..

She hadn't really thought about how she was going to tell Jenny that she almost committed suicide... She knew it would break her heart... But she also knew she could not keep such a secret from Jenny it would make her even angrier if she found out later...

She took deep breaths and opened the door...

As the door opened., Jenny's hands flew up in the air to strike whoever was there and was not Vanessa with her bag.., but thankfully stopped herself on time when she saw Vanessa..

Thank God Grace wasn't the one who opened the door... The poor woman might have been viciously attacked by wonderwoman Jenny..

"oh Thank God Vanessa.. You're okay... Jenny pulled Vanessa in a tight embrace...

" I'm fine Jenny., but were you going to hit me with your bag just now??... Vanessa asked as she brought Jenny to look at her.

"well not particularly you., but anyone who was not you., I mean look at this hall it's so quiet.. I thought you'd been kidnapped or something... Jenny said looking back at the empty hall...

" I think you both might like to continue your discussion over breakfast" Grace said, gracefully walking up to them by the door..

"oh I'm so sorry Grace., this is Jenny my best friend, and Jenny this is Grace she helped me through out the night..

" I have no idea what is going on yet., but thank you for taking care of her for me... Jenny said stretching her hands forward to shake the woman... But instead the woman pulls her into an unexpected hug..

" I don't like handshakes... The woman said as she broke the hug.. Now it's obvious that you didn't have time to freshen up before running down here.. So Vanessa., show Jenny to the bathroom so she can wash her face and tidy up her hair..Then you both come let's have breakfast...

Jenny who hadn't realized how disheveled and unkept she was looking that morning, saw herself in the mirror.,and just had her mouth open wide... Now I know why people were starring at me when I was coming here...

Oh the things I do because of you Vanessa... I can't believe I came out like this.. She said as she cleaned her freshly washed face with a towel., and straightens up her hair...

"Well that only proves that you really love me.. Vanessa says making a big love sign with her hands..

" More Like I hate you so much.. I'm so mad at you... Jenny said throwing the wet towel at Vanessa..

"Look I'm so sorry., I didn't mean to not call., crazy things happened yesterday and... They were interrupted by Grace who came to remind them about breakfast...

" it seems you both enjoy making this old lady starve huh... You both might have the strength to hold your hunger for a long time, but I don't.. Now come out let's eat something... Now.. Out the door.. Now.. Move.. Move... Grace suddenly turned into a senior officer instructing her juniors... They quickly marched out of the room before they get punished by this Major General..

Breakfast was nice and simple.., just some simple toasts, and some scrambled eggs by the side.. And a cup of yogurt to step it down.. Maybe it was because they were both famished, but they had no idea eggs could taste like this.. It was just so good..

It would be shameful to ask for more from a lady who has been extremely nice to you.. If not both ladies would have had three more servings...

They didn't talk much during breakfast.. Grace had somethings to ask, but felt it was not in her place to do so..

"oh dear Grace., this food was amazing. It's the best home cooked meal I've had in a long time.. Jenny said..." oh it's nothing, it's just eggs.. Grace said waving her hands in the air for the girl to stop her flattery..

"just eggs??.. I didn't know eggs could taste this good till today.. It's just divine, Grace.. Vanessa added...

" i don't think we can repay you in any way., so I will do the dishes instead... Jenny said as she and Vanessa cleaned up the table... "just leave it., I can do that later.., or someone else will" Grace protested...

"there is no way we will receive such a wonderful meal and still let you wash them... Don't worry Grace we'll just wash them and then we'll leave.. I've bothered you for too long.. Vanessa said.

" oh I assure you., it's no bother at all.., but if you insist on washing the dishes, I won't stop you anymore... And about you leaving., since Jenny is here to pick you up., I can't keep you any longer... So for now I'll just sit over there and pretend I have two beautiful daughters doing their house chores...

Her words were so nice and filled with love that both girls wished they had someone like her in their lives...

Don't worry girls., maybe one day you will....

WHAT HAPPENED., ARE YOU HURT??

Grace came running into the kitchen., when she heard a plate fall to the ground and shattered into pieces...

"What did you say you did Vanessa.., Jenny stared at her best friend with extreme horror in her eyes.. Her hands were shaking, she couldn't hold onto the plate she was holding after what Vanessa said...

Grace understood what was going on., so she left the kitchen and gave the girls some space to settle things...

"I'm sorry Jenny., I didn't know what came over me last night., I lost my mind for a while....Vanessa said in a hurry... You lost your mind for a while??... And then you tried jumping off the roof huh?.. Vanessa did you even think about me huh?.. Did you think of how devasted I would have been.., so you were just going to jump off the building., and then what huh.. WHAT THEN VANESSA.., you would go straight to hell and leave me in a world that would be no less than a living hell knowing that my best friend was no more., and that I couldn't save you... Huh Vanessa.. How could you do this Vanessa.. How could you.. Huh.. answer me Vanessa.. ANSWER ME...

WELL WHAT WAS I SUPPOSED TO DO.. Huh.,tell me what huh.. I got fired from school after the kid who tried to rape me accused and framed me for trying to rape him.. And the only witness I had said he was never even there Jenny.., I became a molester Jenny.. Me.. Me.. I became a crazy b*tch... Do you know the names his mother called me huh.., DO YOU??....she called me a Whore Jenny, she called me shameless prostitute.., a pedophile Jenny., and I did nothing wrong... Hot unstoppable tears rolled down the cheeks of both girls... Vanessa was having problems breathing properly as she spoke... Jenny could not believe her ears.. That evil boy had done this to Vanessa... He had made her a molester... He had said he would punish her, and he did...

Grace could hear everything that they were saying because the girls were screaming out their lungs as the spoke... She felt the motherly urge to go and pat both girls on the back and say it was all going to be okay., but she felt they needed to sort things out themselves..

"And as if that wasn't enough for a person in one day., I was feeling so miserable., and I didn't want to come to you with my problems.. I just wanted someone to hold me and hug me so tight and tell me everything was okay., so I called Mark a million times before he finally picked.. He picked but all I could hear was m.. m.. moans Jenny., I felt it wasn't right., maybe there was a mistake or something... Maybe I heard wrong..., so I went to his office....And then.., then and there right in front of me., he was on the floor having s*x with his coworker... And the worse part is., it's been happening for a long time Jenny.., there was so many clues but I just didn't see it.., no.. I didn't want to see it... Mark was cheating on me Jenny... At that point., I had no idea what I was doing anymore.. I couldn't feel anything anymore... Jenny...

Jenny could swear she never expected such a thing from Mark.. He loved Vanessa so much... Yeah, LOVED... Past tense..

"I'm sorry Jenny I didn't mean to do it but I don't no what came over me... I'm so sorry...

" No.. Van., I'm sorry.. I should have been there for you., I shouldn't have sent in your resumé in the first place.. That school brought too much pain to you... And I'm so so sorry about Mark., and I'm so sorry I'm not always there for you.., I'm really sorry.... She pulls Vanessa into a hug.. And both girls cry their eyeballs out telling each other that one was sorrier than the other...
