Chapter 84

Chris was as restless as Jane was, he stepped out on the balcony of his room , the night breeze blew through his skin, he honestly does not know what to do with the information that Grace just provided him this evening

he had falsely accused her, he was drunk with jealousy if he must admit the truth, but why he was jealous he still couldn't figure out, was it that he was just being possessive of his employee or he was just concerned about her

he had absolutely no idea, and then there was a clue about what happened that night, he still doesn't feel ready to pry into that night, even though that was the main reason why he had travelled back home

he keeps reminding himself not to loose focus, but right now the only thing that's occupying is mind is thoughts of Jane, he can't seem to get her out of his mind

he felt so helpless, he had wanted to call her but he didn't have the nerve to follow through, he didn't know how to face her

"I better just stop thinking about her and focus on what I came here for" he said to himself

he was still deep in thought when he heard his phone ring

he picked his phone from his pocket and saw that it was Jane, his face lit up and without even thinking he picked the call

"hey Jane" he said but received no response and before he could say anything else the call was disconnected

he wanted to call her again but he decided not to, he smiled probably she didn't want to call him

but it was already past twelve how could she have mistakenly called him, or was she trying to call one of her boyfriend, he quickly shook the thought away, he already misjudged her, he shouldn't make such mistake again

he went back into the room and reluctantly laid on the bed, the fact that she called him made him feel relieved

Jane quickly disconnected the call she could not bring herself to respond to him, she felt her heartbeat accelerate by a hundred percent the moment she heard his voice

his voice sounded so sweet, and yet so familiar, she had never him speak like that before, his voice is always so cold and emotionless but now he spoke in his normal voice

and it sounded like she had heard it before, but she just didn't know where but still the voice brought relief to her, it was just a pity that she won't be hearing it ever again

Grace woke up very early in the morning, she had taken her bath, her plan is to drag Christopher to go apologize to Jane

she went straight to his room immediately after breakfast, she knocked his door

"are you ready?" Grace asked him

"why, you want to follow me to work? " Chris asked her seeing that she was all dressed up

"no, we are going to see Jane" Grace said nonchalantly

"Jane?" Chris said surprised

"and why is that?" he added

"because you have to apologise to her, you wronged her"

"there's no need for that, she no longer works here, Grace please leave me alone I need to prepare for work" Chris said pretending not to care about what she said

"no way, she's my friend even though she's your maid and I've grown very fond of her, I need her back in this house, and so do you, look at it this way it might take months before you are able to find a replacement for her, and you are the reason why she left" Grace said

"and besides she really needs the job for the sake of her son, finding another job will be a bit hard at the moment, for the sake of the boy" she added

"alright fine, let's go" he said

"do you know where she stays" he asked pretending not to know where she stays

"it's in her resume we will find it, let's go" she said dragging him along with her

"and where do you think you are going young lady?" Maria asked her seeing that she was getting into the car with Chris

"uhmm mom I need to get somewhere so Chris is just dropping me off" she lied, there as no way her mom will allow her go if she knows they were going to Jane's house

"and you can't pick a car, why do you have to stress your brother, he has a lot of things to do already why add to it" Maria interjected

"mom he's not complaining" Grace said

"mom it's fine, I will just drop her off, let's go Grace I'm running late for a meeting" Christopher said

seeing that her brother was cooperating she quickly agree and played along

"of course let's go, we will see later mom" Grace said and locked the car door

going to Jane's house felt like a journey to Grace

"she comes this far" Grace asked

"hmmm" Chris who was deep in thought just nodded he was worried about how he would face Jane

seeing that he was not responding to her she decided not to press the issue

"stop the car" Chris ordered the driver

the driver stopped and Chris stepped out of the car, seeing that he stepped out, she thought that he changed his mind

"Chris where are you going?" Grace asked him

"I need to get something there" he pointed to the store in front of them

seeing the store in front of them, he thought of getting something for Christopher, he had been thinking of the boy too since he heard about him

Grace followed him to the store and in some minutes they got out of the store

they drove to the neighborhood and stepped out the car when they got to Jane's house
