Chapter 75

Jane entered the office and felt the urge to run back, everywhere felt cold and it was not the air conditioner, it was something more cold and dark, something didn't feel right

"good afternoon sir" Jane greeted

"have you thought about what I told you?" Chris asked her

"uhhmm no I haven't actually I need to tell you something" Jane said

"and which is?" Chris asked

"well what I wanted to say it if uhmm well I have a " Jane didn't know how to put her words, she didn't know how he was going to take it if she told him she had a son and besides she had not spoken to Chris and Mrs Whitney about it she didn't know how they would feel or if they will even agree to it, she thought she should go home and discuss it with them first

"well never mind sir, I will just go home and discuss it Mrs Whitney first" she said

"Mrs Whitney, who's that?" Chris asked curiously

"she's my guardian sir, I live with her" she replied

"get to the cooking, I'm hungry already" Chris said irritated, he had earlier thought she was going to tell him about Zain

even now he heard Cat address him as her boyfriend that means they were actually together and she was living with him just like he had thought, he felt angry

"what would you like to eat?" she asked him

"just cook anything, the foodstuffs and everything are all there" he replied coldly

"okay, but Sir I don't know where the kitchen is" Jane said

Chris slammed his hand on the desk in frustration, ' what the hell is wrong with this girl, can't she just see I don't want to talk to her '

Chris rose to his feet and made his way to where the kitchen was "follow me" he said, Jane followed after him and he brought her to the kitchen "next time you need anything or have any questions just ask Jack, don't bother me with stupid things like this" Chris said and left the kitchen

Jane was stunned, ' why was he being like this today, how was she even suppose to tell him about Chris when he was being like this with her ' Jane decided to wave the thoughts away and just cook instead

Jane was done cooking and she served the food just the way Estella had taught her before, she just hoped he won't complain

Chris was satisfied with the food, it tasted very good she was very good at cooking but he refused to show his satisfaction

he also felt the need to ask her to join him just like he did yesterday but he somehow felt that it was not necessary after all she has a boyfriend and she should really know her place and it's high time she start receiving the same treatment as every other person, she was nothing to him and he should not treat her differently

Chris finished his meal while Jane was there standing by his side the whole time, her legs were tired from the whole sitting but she dared not to complain, even though she could not help but steal glances at him from time to time, ' how could be so elegant and handsome, too bad he has a bad attitude ' she thought to herself

when she noticed he was done eating, she packed the plates into the kitchen and did the dishes and tidied up the whole place

she finished and was about leaving

"I'm done I will be on my way now sir" Jane said expecting a reply but Chris didn't say anything, Jane cleared her throat hoping to get his attention "you can leave" he finally said

Jane bowed her head and left the office

Seeing her leave, Chris felt this void that he could not explain, he doesn't know why he was feeling this way, she was just his maid and he shouldn't care whether she has a boyfriend or not, it's her life and he shouldn't care about that as long as she was doing her job

he should keep his distance away from her, but he was still going to stand on his word, she either move into the mansion or she quit, she lives too far and it's getting in the way of her job, why didn't mom consider all of this before employing her? Chris thought frustrated but anyways he didn't matter to him Chris convinced himself that work was the only reason why he was asking her to move to the mansion, he then continued his work

Jane got back to the mansion, she was very sad, Mr Christopher was really hostile with her today, even though he was always like that on a normal day but today it was even more, she didn't know what to do anymore, she felt torn, she really needed to keep this job but at the same time she needed to be with her son

he doesn't have a father, there was no way he was she was going to allow him also grow up without a mother as well, and she dared not burden Mrs Whitney with the task of looking after him all alone, she felt very sad and confused

Chris got home quite late, there was a lot to do at the company, everyone had already taken dinner and some were already in their rooms, Jane was waiting for Christopher to arrive so she can leave for the day

she had already prepared his bed, bath and even his pyjamas, she was in the kitchen pressing her phone, Zain was also on his way to pick her up, she was in no mood to argue with him so she just agreed to it even though she didn't want to

she heard the sound of the door knob and she knew it was Chris that came in already, some of the other maids were already greeting him, she quickly rushed to the living area to welcome him before he goes upstairs, she somehow felt happy that he was back

"welcome back sir" she greeted but Chris just ignored her and made his way upstairs, Jane felt sad but she quickly changed her mood, she took his bag from Jack and made her way upstairs
