Chapter 69

When they got downstairs, Zain was there waiting

he had earlier heard from the Tasha that Jane was in the company, and he really wanted to see her and if possible take her home, after all it was already late, he had not seen much of her lately, she had been too busy

Christopher made his way towards his car when he noticed Zain ' what the hell is he doing here ' he thought

Zain also noticed him and quickly greeted him, even though tomorrow was the day he was going to be introduced to the staff, they had already heard a lot about him and could tell who he was just by looking at him

"good evening Mr Christopher Smith, nice to meet you sir" Zain greeted him politely

seeing Zain his eyes darkened, he ignored him and proceeded to get into the car

Zain felt somewhat embarrassed, he had heard how arrogant and cold he his but he didn't expect it to be this bad, he felt a bit uncomfortable under his gaze

Zain decided to shift his attention towards Jane instead

"hey Jane good evening how are you?" Zain moved closer to Jane

Jane didn't know how to react, she was still at work and she didn't want to upset Chris

"good evening Zain" Jane greeted him back

"you didn't tell me you were coming to the company I would have brought you myself" Zain complained

"no it's totally fine, besides I didn't know I would be coming also, can we talk when I get home, I can't keep my boss waiting excuse me" Jane hurriedly said and was about leaving

Zain grabbed Jane's hand to stop her

"I was thinking if you can go home with me, it's already way past 5, if you go now you will have to return again, and it will only waste more time, it will be too late before you get home and that's dangerous, you will keep us all worried" Zain explained

"okay, let me take permission" Jane thought about what he said for a while and agreed, he was totally right, besides she was already too tired, it will be extra stress if she were to go back to the mansion and then head back home

she moved closer to Chris's car and knocked on the window

Chris wined down the car window, and for some reason he looked angry

"how dare you keep me waiting because of your boyfriend?" Chris said angrily

"uhmm I'm so sorry, we were just considering me going home from here, it will be too stressful and dangerous if I have to go the mansion and still head home after, and he's not my" Jane was going to explain that Zain was not her boyfriend when Chris cut her off

"I don't care, get lost" Chris said and ordered the driver to move

Jane was lost for words "what was that all about?" she muttered silently

' wasn't he acting all nice towards her in his office earlier, he even allowed her to eat with him, why the sudden change in attitude, this boss of hers was really something ' Jane was immersed in her thought when she felt someone's hand on her waist

she was caught off guard, she looked and saw that it was Zain, she shook his hand off her body

"did Mr Smith agree?" Zain asked

"yes let's go home" Jane said walking towards the car

Zain was super happy, he gets to spend time alone with her again

Slyvia watched as everything unfolded, she also heard that Jane was in the company, she had first thought that she was here to see Zain, but it turned out that she was here to see the president, she wondered what does two had in common

when it was time to go home, they had packed up to leave but she ran into the Zain on her way home, ever since that incident, Zain had been avoiding her

he spoke to her politely when the need arises but she wants more than that, she saw that he wasn't starting his car so she decided to ask him

he said he was waiting up for someone, he didn't say who and she didn't dare to ask but her insticts told her it was Jane and it turned out she was right, he had told her to go home but she decided to wait secretly by the side

she felt extremely sad when she saw them both walk into the car and drive off, ' when will Zain ever look at her? ' she thought

Chris was fucking angry at the moment, ' how dare she go home with that asshole '

he had seen everything earlier on how he grabbed her hands, and he said something about people worrying about her, does that mean he was her brother?, and that was their mother and younger brother on the phone?

Chris was confused, but he saw how he looked at her, with so much affection in his eyes, siblings don't look at each other that way, but Jane seems a bit indifferent towards him, she didn't reciprocated his actions or look

gosh he was going to go crazy with so much speculations, he needed to be sure, he laid his head on the car seat and shut his eyes in frustration

Zain and Jane got home later and Zain saw her to the door

"thanks for bringing me home" Jane said and went inside

Jane got inside and met Mrs Whitney and Chris at the living area

Christopher saw his mother and ran towards her "mummy" Chris shouted

"hey baby, miss me already?"

Chris nodded and embraced his mother in a tight hug, Mrs Whitney pretended that she didn't see Jane, she still felt guilty about last night and she hoped that she wouldn't bring it up again

Jane saw her attitude and felt that she was still angry at her, she moved closer to her and knelt beside her

"Mrs Whitney are you still mad at me?" Jane asked almost breaking down in tears, Mrs Whitney was the only family she had she couldn't bare for them to fight

seeing and hearing her voice, Mrs Whitney knew she was about to break down and she couldn't bear it

"not anymore my dear, as long as you stop asking me such questions" Mrs Whitney said

"I promise I won't" Jane said even though she was still curious about the matter, she didn't have a choice than to let it go

"alright go take a shower while I prepare your food, you must be tired and hungry

"okay" Jane said happily even though she was not so hungry she could not refuse her food, she left and went into her room
