Ten minutes later, he stood up. He had not been able to sleep and he doubted he would be able to sleep with a thief in the neighborhood. He peeped outside the window and much to his relief, found out that the man and the car were gone. All the lights in the house he had entered were still off so he guessed nothing had happened.

"Probably a drunkard", he thought. But as he found out the next day, he had been terribly wrong. He had been staring at a killer and he doubted there was any way he could explain what he was doing awake by midnight to his mum without getting grounded for a whole month.

"Who killed her?", Charlotte asked. "And if you try to make any jokes with this, you'll be grounded for a whole year."

"I'm not joking mum!", Marty cried. "Where is your ring?"

"My ring?", Charlotte asked frowning.

"Yes", he replied. "Your diamond ring."
