Jacobi didn't like the idea of being the one to break the bad news to Charlotte but he knew very well that he had very little options to choose from. He turned to face Mount and Mount shook his head in the negative indicating that he was definitely not going to be the one doing the talking at the moment
"You are the only reasonable person here," Mount nodded at Jacobi. "So she says. You should be the one talking. I do not want to spill unintelligent words from my mouth and make a complete foolery of myself." Charlotte knew at once that he was angry with her indirect description of him as not very smart and she made efforts to apologize immediately.
"I'm sorry," Charlotte started. "I didn't really mean it that way. I was just angry that I didn't see my son. Please tell me where he is if you have seen him by any means."
