Chapter Six : Meeting the family head

After waking up the next day Joe decided to give a visit to the young noble John. He went out of the Inn he is staying and walked towards John's mansion.

In the Southern part of the city, nestled between towering stone buildings and cobblestone streets, stood the grand mansion of the nobleman, John. This mansion was covered in white paint, with its high walls and ornate architecture, it showed the wealth and power of the family who owned it.

As Joe entered the mansion, he was led into a grand hall adorned with portraits of John's ancestors. At the far end of the room sat himself, a man of stature with a stern face that bore the weight of his lineage. This was Drake Walker the current head of the family and John's father.

"Joe," Drake said, his voice echoing through the hall. "I heard that my son has hired you as a guide for his expedition to the eastern forest".

"Yes Sir, Young Master John said he and his friends will be going for a 'trip' to the eastern forest, but he did not give me any other information". Joe said respectfully.

Drake leaned forward, his gaze intense. "Yes, John is planning an expedition to the eastern part of the forest. It is a dangerous journey, and I need you to keep an eye on him all the time, I don't care what happens to anybody else keep my son safe and you will be rewarded".

"I understand your orders sir" Joe replied, his voice steady. "And I will keep your son from any harm".

Drake nodded approvingly. "Good. You will not be alone in this expedition. Guards from my family and other nobles will accompany you".

As Joe was coming out of the mansion he couldn't help but think about the meeting he just had and the person he just met.

"Damn, he is really strong and he had an aura around him," Joe said out loud.

The Walker family is one of the powerhouses of the hail kingdom, the Walker family. Known for their unique affinity for water magic, they are a powerhouse in the kingdom's political and economic landscape.

And the head of the Walker family is Drake Walker.

His imposing figure, his indomitable spirit, and his unwavering resolve. Drake is not just a noble; he is a powerful warrior who can control the water element, he is a person who commands respect and admiration from subordinates and the people under him.

Drake's leadership has seen the Walker family's influence grow exponentially. Under his guidance, their trading network has expanded across the continent, bringing prosperity not just to their family but to Hail Kingdom as a whole. His strategic alliances with other noble families have strengthened Hail's position among the five kingdoms.

But Drake is not just a businessman and a skilled warrior; he is also a loving father. He has two sons, the eldest one is Melwin and the younger one is John.

Thinking about this Joe hand plans to have a good relationship with the Walker family with the help of John, ' The Walkers are a powerful family and if I have a good relationship with John it will help me in the future. I just hope there won't be any unexpected twists here' Joe thought to himself.

As Joe stepped out of the grand manor, he found John Walker waiting for him.

"Joe," John greeted, extending his hand. "I heard you had a meeting with my father".

Joe shook his hand, with a small smile "Yes, we had quite an interesting discussion".

"About the expedition to the eastern part of the forest, I presume?" John said.

Joe nodded. "Your father wants me to be a part of it. To guard you all the time".

John let out a laugh. "Well, I can't think of anyone better suited for the job".

Joe smiled and said, "I appreciate your confidence in me".

John clapped him on the shoulder. "It's not just confidence, Joe. It's because I trust you, and my father should have done some background checks too".

"He also said he will be sending some guards from your family too," Joe said to John.

"Yeah, I knew that". 

"Don't worry I will keep my eyes on you, I won't disappoint you," Joe said.

"Sure, I will see you next week right and be prepared its going to be a long expedition, it will take at least one month in the least estimation" John informed Joe.

"That long hmmm I should do some more packing I guess. Alright, then Bye John" After saying his goodbye Joe left for his Inn.
