Nathaniel memories: What happened to Sebastian?

Upon reaching the nursery, Jack placed the council leader's slim body on the second stretcher, trying to be as careful as possible. Hirsch didn't leave his friend's body for a second, grabbing his wrist, as if taking his pulse. Jade had been in charge of looking for the nurse, who was not very far from that room, fortunately.

Instead, Yoram and Nathaniel stayed by the door, since they did not belong to that scene. The silver-haired guy looked askance at the chestnut, who was looking at the redhead with concern. The minor only patted him on the back, as a sign that everything would be fine between the two boys.

"Don't worry about Sebastian," had been the nurse's words after doing a quick study of the raven. "He is fine and I don't think it will take long to wake up. So, you can go back to your classes." The woman smiled before turning around and busying herself with bottles of substances he couldn't recognize with naked eye.

"I want to stay" Hirsch had sat on the edge of the stretcher that his friend occupied. He caressed his dark hair with tenderness and nostalgia in his crystalline eyes.

"For me there is no problem with you staying, but all of you can't be here," clarified the woman, pointing to the five students who had arrived with the third class president from twelfth grade.

"I'll stay too," said Jade, who was already calm, although her reddish eyes were still noticeable from having cried. "Between Hirsch and I we will take care of Sebas" she spoke to the others, receiving a smile from Jack.

"Then, we are leaving" the blonde gave a light blow to Yoram on the shoulder, who moved away from him. Even if it was the president of his own class, he didn't seem to like him too much. "Come on, Yoram."

The chestnut frowned, probably at the thought of leaving Hirsch alone, but there was nothing he could do about it. Anyway, he was not close to Sebastian, so he wouldn't fit in there with the redhead and the girl. He followed Jack out, closing the door behind him.

Nathaniel, who had already moved, was standing next to the gurney, staring at the boy's pale face. Unlike other times, his face was serene making him look more attractive. Her reddish lips stood out against the pale skin. Her hair was disheveled on the one hand, while on the other it had already been fixed by Hirsch. His chest rose and fell calmly, making the rhythm of his breathing smooth.

He definitely looked pretty cute when he wasn't yelling or frowning at his annoyance.

"You're very close to Sebas, right?" He asked looking at the girl. She smiled at him and took a seat on a bench before answering.

"We've been friends since childhood," she commented, drawing Hirsch's attention. "I could say that we grew up together. We have always been to the same schools and have spent every vacation together, therefore we have always been next to each other. But, even if we've known each other since we were in diapers, we are not as close as he is with Hirsch."

The aforementioned smiled, but soon his face changed to one of sadness.

"I don't know if we'll ever be so close after this." He lowered his gaze, again tears welling up in his eyes.

"Don't think that way, Hirsch. Sebas loves you so much to leave your friendship so soon. It was painful, yes, but the wounds heal. And this one surely will."

"Maybe..."

"Has Sebas been in a coma before?" Nathaniel changed the subject, hoping to improve the awkward and nostalgic atmosphere that had formed, although his question did not improve the situation much either.

"When he was a child," Jade began to tell, "there was a stage where he had constant episodes in which he fainted and even went into a coma. They had to intern him for a week, as he had become very ill. But, after that stage, it did not happen again. Unless I'm aware of it."

"Sebas has had episodes lately," the redhead suddenly released with a blank look. "But it had never happened at school, they were always at home. Nor was it something as… strong as this. It was only a matter of seconds before he reacted to himself again."

"Episodes?" It seemed that he was the only one who did not understand what was happening. And so it was.

"It's hard to explain." Hirsch scratched the back of his neck, thinking of the right words to start. "Sebas is sensitive to negative emotions. No matter how insignificant it is, it affects his twice as much. He has episodes when something really hurts him emotionally…" His voice trailed off as he spoke more. "He says that when that happens, he feels like his world is falling apart and that he is too small to hold everything on his own."

He continued: "He is used to carrying all this alone, as he has done it for a long time by now But, when he meets someone he can trust, he turns him into a pillar and the weight becomes lighter." He took a deep breath before continuing. "The problem is that Sebas has a hard time trusting people. Even if he knows someone very well, it doesn't mean that he trusts that person. So, when that pillar disappears, everything falls on top of Sebas in one go. Sebas isn't strong enough to endure all of that alone, and that's why he faints."

"I tried to help him many times, but it is something that is impossible to change. However, one solution to everything was simply not to make him feel bad, kind of. But he's been going through a rough patch lately, and I think this is what finally broke him." Hirsch concluded.

After that, no one commented on anything else, finding themselves in absolute silence and, somehow, Nathaniel got to know a side of Sebastian that he never thought he would ever discover.
