Deja vu

"I was making some excuses so he would not bother talking to me anymore."

"So? Do we have any plans this Friday? We don't have any classes, right?"

"Andrea?"

"Andi"

"Andrea Imogen Nuevo!"

I jolted from shock when Casper tapped the table using a book. They were laughing at my reaction.

My thoughts are in the cloud since earlier this morning. I remember waking up at 5 in the morning and spending good 30 minutes staring at the ceiling before deciding to get up and get ready.

I even forgot to wear my bra under my clothes! Good thing when I was about to go out of my apartment, I noticed that everything was airy from the inside. That's when I realized that I wasn't even wearing anything underneath.

Right now, they have been talking about some guy that Casper met in an online dating application, and here I am, can't even focus on the topic at hand.

"What's wrong, babe? You've been like this since you got in the class earlier this morning?" Kataniya asked while rolling the sleeves of her hoodie. It has been a cold day.

I heaved a sigh. I'm not sure if I should tell Casper and Kataniya about it. My head has just been full of thoughts about Dominic. His words were still crisp, and I could even hear him say it out of nowhere. I don't want to jump to any conclusions because the last time I did, I was wrong.

I pursed my lips and eyed Kataniya and Casper for a moment, contemplating how I would tell them about my spontaneous date last night. I'm sure they would be surprised by how things occurred without their knowledge.

I let out a deep breath before telling them the whole story.

"I went on a date last night."

For a good minute, I thought time got frozen because they were not responding. Casper and Kataniya just stared at me like I was about to let out another "It's a prank" liner.

"I went out on a date with Dominic," I added.

"Holyshit! Is this for real?" I'm not sure if Casper was glad or mad with this expression, but I laughed, given that it's him.

I just nodded as a confirmation to their question. Kataniya was giggling then while pushing and slapping Casper's right arm. I had to hush her because we're at the library waiting for our last subject, which is by 5 in the afternoon.

"Oh, you have to tell us what happened!" Kataniya tugged my cardigan sleeves, asserting to give her the "tea" as what they would call it.

I ended up telling them all about what happened on how a simple joke and bet turned into something unexpected.

"So, are you two officially dating?" Casper's question caught my attention. Are we? I don't think so. It was just one time where we shared something romantic. If that was already romantic for you. I don't even know if Dominic has a thing for me. I refuse to believe it. I mean, it's too fast. Everything was just too quick.

"I don't think he likes me that way," I claimed.

"Seriously? The way you tell us, I see otherwise." Kataniya suddenly pouted her lips towards somewhere. I furrowed my eyebrow confused as to what she was doing. Casper turned his head to where Kataniya was pointing, and he burst into silent giggles.

I scanned the direction where they were both looking at and saw Dominic was sitting at the table behind us. His chin was resting on his hand while smiling at us. I immediately turned my back against him. If you ask why did I even do that, I don't know too.

I just felt hot all of a sudden, and a jolt of electric shock was sent throughout my fingertips. What was Nic doing here? I mean it's a library, of course, everyone is allowed to be there. But why of all time he suddenly pops out and wreak havoc on my insides.

"Stop laughing!" I whispered at Casper and Kataniya while they were giggling nonstop. I had a small panic attack but then took a deep breath to release all the tension. I then turned my head to where Dominic was sitting, but he was nowhere to be seen again. I scanned near the table but found no one.

I suddenly felt deja vu when a shadow was cast on me. I slowly moved my head to look up, and there I found him, standing, flashing his pearly whites.

"Uhm, hi there! I don't believe we have met yet," Casper switching into his flirty voice while holding his hand towards Dominic to shake his it. Dominic received it and introduced himself.

"I'm Kataniya."

"Dominic."

"So, what brought you here, Dominic?" I know Casper was teasing me as he crossed his legs and eyed me while asking the question to Nic.

"I sent a message to your friend, but sadly I think she did not notice it. Good thing, I caught you guys here in the library," he explained.

Message? Wait. My phone! Where's my phone? I forgot about it for the whole day. I immediately rummaged my bag to find out where my phone was.

When I took it out, there were 4 messages. Three of them were from Dominic.

-Hi Andi, how was sleep?

-Where are you right now?

-Wanna grab dinner tonight?

I stared down at my phone, hoping he could not see how nervous I was from the messages he sent. My heartbeat spiked, and I want to clutch my chest to stop it, but it would be too obvious if I do it in front of him.

I counted 1 to 5 before looking back at him. He was still smiling, eagerly waiting for my reply. I could feel my friends' eyes burrowing a hole in me, squeezing me to give an answer.

"Sorry, I wasn't able to check my phone, but yeah. My class ends at 7."

"Good. I'll get you after your class."

He then bid goodbye and went out of the library. I swear I am about to pass out from that one. I was holding my breath when I answered him. I don't even know where I got the courage or the thought of saying yes to his request.

Casper and Kataniya were just giving me a teasing look as I watched Dominic's back fade into view.
