Chapter 31 [Akagi]

Now in the middle of combat against a unknown enemy, Yui points her spear towards her enemy as if it were a lance.

Her enemy wore a oni mask along with a black robe to conceal his/her identity. Armed with a katana her enemy charges forward at the same time as her...

*Shing!*

Their weapons struck against each other producing several sparks in the process.

"You're a fool for trying to attack behind my back!" Yui exclaimed, pushing the weight of her weapon onto her enemy's weapon.

*Crack*

The blade of her enemy started to shatter from the weight that was being applied onto it, slowly degrading it's durability.

"I'm merely following orders." The said enemy's voice sounded female to Yui, making her think that it was a female behind the mask.

"Orders...? What orders...?"

Yui could've commanded her servants to go after this aforementioned enemy instead but her pride wouldn't allow her to do so...

With swift and precise movements, Yui had quickly learned how to use her weapon, quickly catching her enemy off guard.

*Shhk!*

A quick strike of her spear had landed on her enemy-- right at the left arm to be accurate.

"Khhh!"

Her enemy was now in pain, with blood flowing out of the wound and dripping onto the concrete ground underneath their feet.

"I'll ask you again... What orders?!"

"...."

No response, only a glare through the mask's eye holes could be seen.

I'm getting bored of this... Should I just use the capture spell on her and get her interogated...?

Yui started to think as this battle had been going for far too long without any outcome.

Yui slowly and discreetly took out a talisman to not let her enemy see what she was about to do and dropped onto the ground slowly in attempt to try and capture her enemy.

"Fine, Have it your way..."

The silver-haired fox jumped back and began chanting for the capture spell.

*Whoosh!*

Strong breezes started to blow toward her enemy along with the same chains of light started to appear as she continued her chants...

*rattle*

The chains quickly emerged and wrapped around her target without any minute to spare.

Who's that person in the mask?

Miku and the others finally made back to the area where Yui was left to only see Yui chanting a capture spell and with Yoshino not there.

They watched from an alley that they passed through as the silver-haired continued on with her chanting.

*rattle*

Her enemy was now chained down, without any signs of struggle to be seen.

Why didn't she struggle? Usually the target struggles whenever a capture spell was activated...

Kuro found it a bit odd that the masked girl wasn't opposing her own capture via a capture spell, only staring at the two with curiousity.

"Still don't want to talk...?"

Yui started to glare back at the girl who had been glaring at her this whole time, not showing any sign of mercy.

"...."

Fine, I'll have to send her to one of the interogation rooms then...

She started her chant for a teleportation spell with one of the interogation rooms in mind when suddenly Kuro came out of nowhere interupting her...

"Stop! Something's off here!"

"What do you mean?"

Yui faced Kuro who was behind her.

"Don't you find it odd that she didn't object to being restrained?"

"Hahahahaha.... That's.... right... Looks like she saw through my plan already..." The masked-girl started to laugh, seeing how Yui had no idea that this was part of her plan.

"Shut it!" Yui shouted, turning towards her enemy once more casting a barrier around her stopping her voice from being heard.

What plan? Wait... Is she planning to infiltrate like what that snow woman did before?

Yui finally figured out what was going on and started to take down the barrier...

"Nice try... You aren't gonna get through me..."

She started to tighten the chains making it hard to breath for her enemy.

"How foolish... My plan wasn't to infiltrate... Though I must admit... That was a good guess..."

The girl laughed once more... Only to be teleported by Yui to one of the interogation rooms.

***

They were now back again in the dormitory, Akagi who was crying before had started to explain everything regarding why she reacted that way towards Kaede being hurt with Shami silently listening along with the others...

"I started feeling comfortable around you girls when I got here and saw Shumizu, Akagi, and Kuro for the first time, Though I must admit... Yui kinda scared me at first..."

"Now just hold on! I was still trying to see if I could trust the four of you that time." Yui objected, her face turning red from embarassment.

She has trust issues... Huh?

Not batting an eye to Yui's reaction, Akagi continued: "I started to feel like I actually feel like I had a place that I belong when we started going on missions together and started living together in this dormitory..."

What happened to her in the past before she ended here for her to say all this...? She only said she just appeared suddenly like me and the others...

Shumizu started thinking as Akagi continued on, the fact that she answered "I also appeared suddenly." was what made her mysterious to Shumizu's eyes.

"There's actually a shrine that took me in, it was actually the first sign of any civilization that I've found the evening that I appeared... But, I found out that they were only taking me in because they thought I was a deity. They actually tried to trap me inside of the Honden but I managed to ran away before they managed to do it..." Was what Akagi finished her explaination with, now with the whole room wrapped in silence...

None of them could think of anything to start a conversation, this was rather awkward to them. Akagi's past was just too much for them to process all at once.

Why am I suddenly doubting her...? Now isn't the time for this nonsense... We stil have Ten to take care of.

But wait... Now that I think about it... Why did Ten just retreat when we tried retreating?

What was that about? Why would she just do that when she could've killed us then and there without any problems?

Shumizu averted her attention and tried to focus on their current enemy-- Ten.

Was she just planning on taking Yui out?

That could be possible... but then again, what's her reason for it? She must have one, right?

This investigating that she had started in her head only gave her the idea of something that Tamamo-no-Mae was still alive thus she left the room and headed to Hideo's office where she asked if he had any information regarding the matter.
