Pandemic lessons

Covid didn't just affected lives because of the illnesses it brought and lives that it took, but the hope, the peace and the fun in living, the joy that even the simplest way of life as to work and get paid to earn and be able to pay your bills, buy food on the table and send your children to school online, aren't sufficient anymore. For even those can be painful, repetitive and choking one's freedom to do more, to earn more or live more than the seclusion of just being able to travel within your city, for taking trips aren't allowed unless you're a front liner or a medical staff to deliver food or have necessary documents like health papers to confirm you're virus free or healthy or having innuendos to be eligible for travel or take trips outside your city or even country. The freedom of the 2020-2021 years were not freedom but a prison in your own homes. Confined in your own city and couldn't go outside your streets because of the health protocols and rules due to lockdowns and quarantines. God is a merciful God but as if He wasn't so at all when many people then died. Many lost their jobs and businesses closed down because of the halt in economy due protocols and many rules to follow for companies to adapt and needed to spend money though losing more as they wait for the perfect time to do business with clients or other companies. Those years and more maybe dictated what the world would have to face, more impoverish, hungry, homeless, jobless and more over hopelessness, as if time went slow, calm but chaotic and evil.

Jewel and Rita found it hard enough to say in their notes that the people then were brave but actually they knew that in New York, it was a pitiful sight with cities in the states plunging to the brink of extinction where people died and businesses lost. Who then saved them from those years of misery and questions maybe never answered because many were busy making ends meet or earning for their keep for nothing or no one then was sure of their tomorrow. If they would still live or eat. If they would still be working or out searching for another soon. Of if people would resort to wishful thinking and or turn to a God who as if abandoned his people, the world, humankind.

St. Joseph, Jesus' step-father and the one who acted as his dad in the olden days when Mary bore the Saviour with the power of the Holy Spirit, didn't believe she was impregnated by God. He is an honest and hard-working man that he wouldn't care less even if Mary is a saint or chosen by God to be the Mother of the Christ. Joseph just want to marry and have a family for he was getting old then and have a stable job as a carpenter that earned him the respects of people and the leaders at the synagogues. When an angel appeared to him, Joseph was about to leave Mary and divorce her when he found out she was pregnant and couldn't believe it done by the Holy Spirit. The angel told him that it is true and that the Holy Spirit did envelope Mary to bear the Son of Man, the Emmanuel to redeem the world from its sins and save mankind. By Jesus' death he will redeem the world and He certainly did when he was in his 40's, 43 years to be exact.

It can be hopeless or scary to think that we have lost love ones or friends and even lost jobs or businesses, but never give up or lose the will to fight. For as long as we are alive there is always hope. God is our only hope and Jesus was sent to us to still remind us that He is the way, the truth and the life. That he who comes to Him will have eternal life and will never go hungry again. Meaning, we will never be alone, be hungry or left wanting, for Jesus is our bread of life, his words, the food to our souls,

the salt from the earth that never diminishes or loses its taste. It is ever powerful and miraculous, Jesus' words and stories are life itself. His body and blood are our wine and bread of life that never fail to relinquish our thirst and hunger for life. Trust Him and give your life to Jesus. He will never abandon us. He is here with us and he is there when Covid struck and is everywhere to give comfort and aid to those who needed Him. Believe that Jesus healed and freed many of their sins and sicknesses. He delivered anyone who called his name and asked for a saviour then and now.

Victory thought of the people who were affected by the pandemic. She also thought of the animals on the seas and on land. Citizens then ate the resources of the seas and drank the waters of the oceans that would soon diminish. Now on this year, 2065, nearing my birthday, we found a way to convert dirty liquids to pure and sparkling drinking water. However, the seas needed to be cleaned and rehabilitated which we have perfected by now. We have grown trees and preserved them in areas and cities needed them most like in the Amazons. Surges of fishes are present in our oceans and we have preserved the sea animals that were extinct, even the land beasts and wild animals on Africa, Australia, and Asia. The icebergs in North and South Poles were taken care of by scientists who always checks on their sizes and if some melted or broke away due to climate change and global warming. We have built a machine to preserve these precious block of icebergs that protects the earth, the balance on our climate and weathers. How can we neglect the call and plead of nature asking for mercy and help since we have wasted the waters, the lands nutrients and creatures for our own selfish desires and greed for money, for power. We have a responsibility to protect and care for the world and everything in it. We are accountable for every little act we do such as throwing garbage at sea because we no longer have dumping sites available due to lands filled with townhouses. Deforested and made lands barren due to mining, land grabbing and corporate advancements. We have polluted the air, corrupted the lands and killed the living creatures and now the people of the world. When will we stop, until no person is living and breathing safely, healthily, forcefully? Victory cried and her emotions mixed. She couldn't think of anything but remorse, lamenting on all the sufferings the people of the world endured in the years 202-2021.

Why do we need to experience loss and hopelessness to realize we have done the world wrong?. When will we learn? Our ancestors have faced the consequences of their actions. Now we must confront the present and change. I have made a lot of changes and made many sacrifices just to make this world better. But id there is no unity, no action and change for the better, we don't have a chance in saving this dying earth, Victory uttered to herself and dried the tears that fell from her eyes. Liz came to her and hugged her from the back. Vic then smiled and turned to face her girlfriend. I just want to make things better, easier and happy for everybody but the past kept on haunting us like the plague that was the pandemic. It's still creeping and pulverizing the good things, deed we've done in the world for the past 20 years. I hope that we are not too late?

We are never too late, Vic. We still have the chance to make things and the world full of peace, unity, health, laughter, fun and bountiful. We are doing it now and we will never stop until we have made this world, our world amazing, magical and beautiful once when God made it to be that way, Liz replied smiling and kissing her love on the lips gently touching her face and her tears.
