In Your Room

Several months later...

(At Adeline's house)

"Mom!" Adeline's mouth dropped open. "What's he doing here?" she looked at Nicholas, standing in front of the door.

"I invited him to stay at our house as his apartment is under renovation." Carol smiled. "You can't just let him sleep on the streets can you?"

"Mom! He has the money to—"

"Don't mind her." Carol smiled at Nicholas. "She's just overwhelmed."

Nicholas bowed. "I-I hope it's not a bother to your family..."

"It is!" Adeline clenched her fist. "Just go and sleep in a hotel! Why does it have to be at my house?"

"We're family," Dave interrupted.

"Ugh!" Adeline rolled her eyes. "As long as he doesn't take my—"

"You're sleeping on the couch from now on, honey." Carol smirked. "Nicholas will be sleeping in your room."

"What?!" Adeline slammed the table. "Mom, are you insane? I'm your daughter!"

"He's a guest."

"And so? You can't just let him take over my room!"

"We could give you more pillows if you're uncomfortable."

"Mom, are you trying to—"

"It's fine, I'll just sleep in the couch." Nicholas scratched his head. "I'm sorry to bother you guys."

"You? A bother?" Carol laughed. "You're always welcomed here alright? Just tell us if you need anything."

"I'll just be bringing down my—"

"I won't allow you to sleep on the couch." Carol patted his back. "Why don't you and Adeline share a room?"

Nicholas looked at Adeline before nodding his head. "That would be better." he smirked.

"No... No! Are you guys out of your mind? You're letting us sleep in one room? Alone?" Adeline grasped her phone. "I'd rather leave this house than do that!"

"You dare?" Carol folded her arms. "Let's see, Adele."

"Mom!"

"Stop complaining and be good."

"Is that how much you trust him?"

Carol nodded. "At least I've got someone to watch over you now."

A few hours later, as Adeline lay on her bed, scrolling on her phone, Nicholas abruptly went in the room and sat down beside her.

"You're not letting me sleep on the floor are you?" Nicholas smiled, bringing his face closer to her. "You're mother told me to tell you that we're sharing this bed."

Adeline rolled her eyes. "Do what you want. Just leave me alone."

"What a surprising reaction. Are you not gonna—"

"My mother has always been like this. Of course I'm not surprised."

"Well it's getting late. Shall we get to bed?"

"You know what? Just sleep on my bed. I'll just sleep on the floor."

"You sure about that? I heard temperature's going down tonight."

"Do I have a choice?" Adeline stood up. "I'd rather freeze to death than share a bed with you."

"If you say so." Nicholas smiled.

The following morning, as Adeline slowly opened her eyes, she noticed that there was an arm wrapped around her waist. She then tried putting it away before turning around to see Nicholas beside her.

Adeline pushed him away, her cheeks reddening. "Nicholas! What are you doing?"

Nicholas rubbed his eyes. "You're so noisy." he yawned. "What's the matter?"

"I thought you were in—"

"You're the one who came up to me because you were cold. You told me last night that you didn't need the blanket, so I took it."

"I wouldn't do that." Adeline stood up. "Don't lie to me."

Nicholas grabbed her wrist and pulled her back into the bed. "It was fun sleeping with you though. You sleep like a baby."

"You..." Adeline looked away. "Whatever. I'll go prepare breakfast now."

Nicholas grabbed her waist, closing the gap between them. "I don't wanna get up yet."

"W-Why aren't you wearing anything...?" Adeline suddenly asked.

"What?"

"Why do you sleep naked?"

"I have my pants on."

"You!" Adeline turned around. "Put on some clothes!"

Nicholas hugged her from behind. "But it's more comfortable sleeping without a shirt."
