"Hurt you?" Adeline bursted into laughter. "I? Hurt you? Why don't we go back to our college days then? Let's see who got hurt first."
Nicholas sighed, "Break up with Erick."
"I'm not stupid enough to make the same mistake again, Nic. I'm not leaving him for anyone. I love him, not you."
"You're lying."
"Once I give up, I'm never coming back."
"I'll wait for you..."
"No." Adeline turned her back. "Go find someone better than me."
Nicholas abruptly hugged her from behind. "I-I can't stop thinking about you."
"Well get over it. That's how I felt before and I was able to move on. If I can do it—"
"I don't want to... Y-You give me feelings I can't put into words..."
"Is this why you've been asking me to—"
Nicholas nodded. "Sitting next to you doing nothing means absolutely everything to me, Adele... I do love you."
"I know," Adeline sighed. "I tried avoiding the fact that you've fallen for me, but it's too late. I've been hurt too many times to count. If you ever wonder why I'm treating you differently, why don't you look back at how you treated me for the past fourteen years? I did everything just to forget you...and now that I did, I won't fall for your lies and go through all that again."
"Is every boy's confession always gonna be a lie to you?"
"I broke many boy's heart back in high school...and I broke even more in college. Do you still not know the reason why?"
"You don't—"
"Let's end this shall we?" Adeline took a deep breath. "It's now my turn to reject you."
"You still like me." Nicholas clenched his fist. "I know you do!"
"Does it matter though? Like I said, I love someone else now."
"Don't think that saying that can make me give up."
"I'll pay off the debt." Adeline looked away. "It's better if we work in a different place."
"I won't allow you to." Nicholas hugged her tight. "You parents—"
"Stop making them as an excuse for me to stay!"
"Then stop trying to run away from me cause I won't ever let you go."
"This is killing me." Adeline sat on the couch as she closed her eyes. "I've had enough. Let me go."
"Fine." Nicholas loosened his grip. "But don't expect me to give up that easily, Adele. No matter how far or how long, my love will still be yours."
(In Molly's apartment)
"I guess it's been a while since we had a date." Molly smiled, handing Jacob a glass of wine.
"We both got occupied with work." Jacob held her hand. "You told me the other day that Adele was dating Erick right?"
"Why do you ask?"
"I... nothing..."
"You can't deceive me, Jacob. We've been dating for almost three years."
"Well ummm..." Jacob scratched his head. "I think I saw Erick...with another woman..."
"Really?" Molly bursted into laughter. "Maybe that was his sister."
"It wasn't. I'm sure of what I saw."
"Then you expect me to believe you and tell Adele about it?"
"I see Erick hang out with that woman everyday—"
"Do you even know what she looks like?"
Jacob shook his head. "He's cheating on Adele."
"Oh please!" Molly sat on the couch. "Erick isn't that type of guy."
"You don't know him, Molly. He's a womanizer."
"I don't wanna let Adele worry. Maybe you just saw a look a like."
"It's not!" Jacob stood up. "Do you really not believe me?"
"Fine." Molly smiled. "Erick's birthday is coming up in a few days isn't it? Then why don't we tell Adele to surprise him in his—"
"You can't let her do it alone."
"Why-Why not...?"
"Nicholas won't allow you to."
Molly rolled her eyes. "You mean that pathetic friend of yours? Why does he even—"
"He likes Adele." Jacob took a deep breath. "He loves her."
