I Will Love You In This Life

"You lowly commoner." That phrase was the only thing he remembered before his death, but that didn't affect him at all because, in the end, he would go back in time and live in another loop. Ares Trasven, a name that the tyrant gave him after he took him as a slave and threw him into the basement so he could learn how to serve for the rest of his life. He was raised and fed so he could become the tyrant's daughter's plaything. Alexandria Valtris, the daughter's tyrant, was the symbol of destruction and chaos. She was so evil that everyone wanted her dead. Ares served her all his life until her death on her 21st birthday by poisoned. Ares was so thrilled and happy about her death that he realized that he was poisoned as well. He woke up and it happened again, he was picked up by the tyrant. Tortured, starved, and brainwashed again for the second time. The third time... The fourth time... The fifth time... "Prophecy? What kind of bullshit is that? You made her that way..." Ares scoffed with tears in his eyes. "Alexandria... I will love you in this life..." Ares said as he wiped his tears.

A letter to you.

"What makes you think that I came here to kill you?" Ares asked as he slowly put his hand down.

"I saw you in my dream, you came into this room and stabbed me in the heart!" Lazarus said as he hugged the wall behind him.

Ares was shocked that Lazarus had a vision about him and not to mention that Lazarus's dream was about Ares's plan to kill him. Something was wrong and not only that but the voice came back after so long and seemed like it didn't want him to kill Lazarus. Ares decided to put an act and tried his best to not make Lazarus more suspicious of him. Since he knew Lazarus long enough, he knew what he should do and changed his plan entirely because if he was forbidden to kill him, befriend him.

Ares untied the top of his shirt and showed him the belt and the dagger that he hid on his left chest. "You mean this?" Ares asked. "You see this?" he said as he tried to pull the dagger and he still couldn't unsheath it from its scabbard. "It's only for my protection since I came here to pick you up under the Archduke Khazad's order," he said and tried to convince him.

Lazarus kept hugging the wall and stared at Ares with fear written all over his face.

"I will put my hands up to show you that I came here not to hurt you or kill you," Ares said. "There's something that I need to tell you but I don't want anyone to eavesdrop on what I'm going to say, so can I approach you?" Ares asked as he started to lift his hands up in the air.

"No, I don't believe you!" Lazarus replied.

Ares sighed and then opened the door behind him, he looked at Pias and told him to grab the dagger from his chest. Pias and the others were shocked that Ares brought a dagger with him that they didn't know, so Pias approached him and took the dagger from him so easily. Ares then came back inside and closed the door behind him.

"I don't have any weapon with me now, and I will keep my hands up," Ares said as he stared at Lazarus.

Lazarus slowly walked to the table and sat on the chair. "What do you want to say?"

Ares looked at the chair in front of him. "Can I sit down so I can say it quietly?"

"Sure, you may sit," Lazarus replied.

Ares slowly walked toward the table and sat down so slowly with his hands up.

"I can see the future and I hear voices that led me here," Ares said and stared at Lazarus with a serious expression. Lazarus seemed to not believe what Ares said by the look on the expression he was making. "I know you don't believe me, but I can tell you your future," he continued.

Lazarus furrowed his forehead and it made him look more beautiful. "Tell me what you saw," he said.

Ares put his hands down and rest them on the table. "In the future, you will become a saint, the saint that will lead the people of the Eurel Empire. Everyone will love you because of all the visions you will have in the future and all of them will come true." Ares said. "You have seen it yourself, right? In your dreams that you became the saint?" he asked as he stared at Lazarus who was shocked by what he heard.

"How did you know all that?" Lazarus asked as he looked at Ares with suspicion.

Ares stood up and sighed. "As I said, I have seen the future, so many times that I'm sick of it," Ares said, he then leaned his body forward and looked at Lazarus who seemed terrified. "Should I tell you how you die, Saint Lazarus?" he asked with a resting face.

Lazarus shook his head. "No, I don't need that, I believe you now."

"Come on, Archduke Khazad is waiting for you, he wants to hear the details about your revelation," Ares said as he leaned back.

Lazarus nodded and left with Ares.

Pias and the others listened to Ares's explanation that he had to bring Lazarus to Khazad. All of them nodded with understanding and helped him to hide Lazarus from the guards since he was a wanted person because of the rumors that spread around the city.

On their way to the gate, two knights were guarding it and Pias looked a bit worried because of them. Lazarus was hiding in a big coat and hood to cover his hair and face, he looked so suspicious to anyone and he felt a bit anxious because of it.

Ares stopped and turned around to look at Pias. "You can leave, I can handle this on my own," he said.

"Are you sure? What are you going to do when they're going to stop you?" Pias asked.

"That's something that you don't have to bother to think about. It's better for you not to get involved from here and out." Ares replied.

Pias was hesitant but Lazarus nodded his head slowly and looked at him. Pias then nodded nervously and left before the knights started to notice the suspicion.

Ares walked toward the open gate and the knights looked at him and Lazarus who walked behind him.

"Hold!" The knight said as he blocked Ares's path with his halberd. "Where are you going?" The knight asked.

Ares pointed at Lazarus as he looked at the knight. "My niece is sick, and I have to bring her back to my hometown in Saline."

The knight looked at Lazarus and he couldn't tell if it was a man or a woman because of how slender his body and how white pale his skin was. He kept looking at Lazarus and noticed the long white hair that went down from the back of his ear. He could see a glance of red plump Lazarus's lips and he immediately fell in love with his appearance.

"Is she a noblewoman?" The knight asked.

Ares smiled and nodded. "Yes, she's married to a noble and he asked me to bring her back to our home because of the war," he answered.

"Such a shame," The knight said. "Okay, you may leave," he continued as he walked back a bit and pulled the halberd.

They both walked past the knights but the one who had been paying attention was suspicious about Lazarus.

"Why do I have to pretend to be a woman? You even made me to wore lipstick..." Lazarus quietly said.

Ares turned his head and looked at how red Lazarus's face was. "Do you prefer to get caught?" he asked.

Before Lazarus could say anything, the knight ran toward him. "Hey, you! Stop right there!"

They both looked at the knight and more were coming from the gate.

"You have to run, you will find a camp on the north, and once you are there tell them that Ares Trasven sent you then introduced yourself. They will bring you to the Archduke, now go!" Ares said.

Lazarus was hesitant but then he started running when there were dozens of knights were running toward them.

(At the same time in the Archduchy.)

Alexandria took over the archduchy since Khazad went to war, she dealt with work that her father left her. She was fine doing the reports and documents, but what she couldn't bear was to deal with the commoners that seek an audience with her. She knew that she couldn't do whatever she want since her father would be furious if she failed with the task he left her, so she had to spend almost every day listening to the commoners.

"How many of them left?" Alexandria asked and stared at the advisor who stood next to her desk.

Khazad's aid or advisor was the one that Khazad trusted the most more than anyone in the empire. His name was Alois Mikova, an old man that two years younger than Khazad and had been staying by Khazad's side long before he became the head of the family Valtris.

"That will be the last one, my lady, good work for today," Alois replied.

Alexandria sighed and put the quill pen back in its place. "What's the agenda for tomorrow?"

"There's nothing important that requires my lady to handle. My lady can rest all day for tomorrow," Alois answered.

Alexandria put all the documents on the side of the desk then she stood up and left.

Even though Alexandria was infamous for being the most arrogant and her hatred toward the commoners, she was the most intelligent compared to the other ladies. While the other ladies were busy with social circle and fashion, she already thought about the future of the archduchy once she inherited the title. She had prepared everything ever since she was 15 years old and would use the power to get rid of the commoners.

Alexandria went back to her room and sat down on the sofa while she was staring at the red and violet sky. She stood up and walked to the balcony, she opened the glass door and the wind hit her face. Something fell from her desk, she turned around and looked at the letter from Ares, she sighed and walked to grab it.

Alexandria was enjoying the dusk on the balcony with the letter in her hands, she opened it and finally read it for the first time after months since he gave her the letter.

[To my lady, Alexandria Valtris.

When you read this letter, that means I'm already on my way to war and I wrote this letter to tell my lady that I will come back as I promised.

I know that I'm being rude by going into my lady's room in the middle of the night, but I want to tell my lady that I have to go and become someone that is capable of protecting my lady in the future. My lady might think that this is just an excuse so I can run away from my lady, but that is not true, I'm doing this because I'm sincerely doing this because I want to stay by my lady's side.

When I'm back, I will be back to my lady's side, or at least that is what I wish for. My lady can decide whether my lady wants me to get rid of me or allow me to stay by your side, I will accept the decision you will make.

I hope that my lady is doing fine over there and as healthy as ever.

Your servant, Ares Trasven.]

Alexandria stared at the letter for quite a while with no expression and tore it apart into pieces then threw it away into the air.
