Sada's Tavern

Chapter 70: Sada's Tavern

Sada's Tavern was more like a restaurant than an actual tavern, as most people who came here were eager to taste Sada's delicious food.

It was said that Sada, the owner, was a renowned chef. He used to be a chef on a pirate ship, but after losing one hand during a mishap, he had to abandon his culinary dreams and open this tavern instead.

Losing one hand was a great tragedy for a chef, as it made cooking extremely difficult. However, Sada managed to overcome the challenges and continued to serve limited dishes daily, mostly offering beverages. Nevertheless, the tavern was always filled with customers, drawn by the special delicacies available.

The tavern welcomed both pirates and regular people, and although fights were strictly prohibited, there were hardly any disturbances, especially because Big Mom provided protection to this place. Though Big Mom never explicitly forbade any trouble, everyone understood the consequences of causing a commotion here.

The safety was primarily due to the fact that the island was known for its culinary reputation, so there was no need for unnecessary troubles. However, if someone were to destroy the island, both Big Mom and the Marines would be after them.

Among the pirates gathered at Sada's Tavern today was Bloodsword Yodell, the leader of the Tequila Pirates, with a bounty of 27 million bellies. He hailed from the South Blue and had defeated several pirate crews before arriving at the Grand Line, where he continued to gain fame by defeating numerous competitors.

Yodell had come here to taste the renowned dishes of Sada's Tavern, and he had reserved the entire place for himself and his crew. Some onlookers, aware of his formidable strength, watched from outside, worried for Sada's safety.

"These despicable pirates, don't they fear attracting the attention of the Marines?" someone whispered.

"Marines? Do you think they have time to bother with this place? They are busy with other matters and won't pay attention to us as long as we pay our tributes to Big Mom," another person replied, showing hostility towards the Marines.

"We should find a way to help Sada and his son. Running this tavern isn't easy for them. Although little Leicester is skilled in combat, I don't think he can handle this group of pirates."

"Yeah, but how?"

In the kitchen of Sada's Tavern, an elderly man and a young boy stood by the stove. Sada, with only one hand, skillfully stir-fried the dishes, his face calm and composed.

The golden-haired young man, wearing a chef's uniform with a chef's hat, though still young, was almost 1.8 meters tall and had a robust build. His face looked a bit youthful, but it was difficult to imagine him as a young boy at first glance.

"Dad, do we really have to cook for that guy?" the boy asked.

"Why not? Do you think we can beat them? He's a pirate with a bounty of 27 million bellies. Although that's not much on the Grand Line, they are enough to bully us," Sada said while adding some fish sauce to the dish to enhance the flavor. "Leicester, I know what you're thinking, but now is not the time to act impulsively."

"But, Dad, you can defeat him easily!" Leicester knew his father's strength. He might not be a world-renowned pirate, but he was definitely strong enough to handle the man outside.

"Peace and harmony bring prosperity. Peace and harmony!" Sada put the dishes on a plate and said, "Take this to him. Don't provoke him."

Leicester's fists clenched, feeling unwilling and humiliated. He, as a spirited young man, didn't want to endure such humiliation, even though he had faced similar situations before. But this time, he didn't want to be humiliated like that.

He brought the dish and approached the only clean seat in the tavern, which belonged to Bloodsword Yodell.

"Here's the dish you ordered. Please enjoy," Leicester said, bowing his head.

"I can't wait!" Yodell rubbed his hands together, taking a deep breath of the aroma, clearly pleased.

"It's worth waiting for! Sada's dishes never disappoint. Oh~"

He picked up a fork, skewered a piece of meat, and put it in his mouth. The juicy flavors exploded, making it truly enjoyable.

"Exactly, this is what I've been waiting for! Oh, it's delicious! I want to eat this every day!" Yodell exclaimed with a laugh that sounded like a strangled night owl, unpleasant to the ears.

Leicester looked at Yodell, his eyes gleaming with a cold light. He discreetly unsheathed a boning knife, capable of easily cutting through cartilage and peeling off thick skin, and aimed it at Yodell's heart.

However, before he could strike, a fork blocked the boning knife, and it had some sauce on it.

"Young man! How dare you sneak attack me? You're asking for death!" Yodell was infuriated. Not only was he hurt, but the mocking smile on Leicester's face further incensed him. He wanted to cut this boy in half.

No longer covering his wound, Yodell chose to use his blood-stained fist to strike at Leicester.

But it was too late. In an instant, Leicester's knife rapidly changed trajectory, aiming straight for Yodell's vital points. He intended to deliver a deadly blow with one strike.

However, Yodell's strength was immense, and in their earlier clash, the boning knife had bent and was rendered useless. He grabbed Leicester's slender arm, planning to exert force, but found that he couldn't move his own arm.

"Arm? How come my arm..."

"Boss, your arm!" one of his subordinates, still sober, shouted. Yodell then realized that he couldn't move his arm; it had disappeared smoothly, leaving behind a clean incision, and blood gushed out uncontrollably.

"Ship doctor! Where's the ship doctor, Frank?!" Yodell nervously called out, realizing that he was in deep pain, and he couldn't stop the bleeding.

"Boss, Frank is drunk!"

"F*CK! Goddamn it!"

Yodell cursed in the South Sea dialect and held his wound. The pain annoyed him, but what made him angrier was that the boy who attacked him seemed to have vanished.

In his place was another man with a healthy wheat-colored skin, who looked somewhat familiar. He smiled at Yodell and held a sword. Wait a minute, why does this sword look so familiar?

"Isn't this the boss's sword?"

"You're right! It's the boss's sword!"

One of the pirates couldn't believe his eyes, rubbing them as if he were dreaming. Why did a stranger have their boss's sword?

"Kid, I'm going to kill you!" Yodell, infuriated by the attack and the smile on the stranger's face, wanted to cut the man in half.

No longer covering his wound, he abandoned any caution and aimed a bloody punch at the man. However, the punch missed and hit the floor, smashing it to pieces. A sharp pain shot through his shoulder, and before he knew it, the man's voice sounded in his ear.

"Two hundred and seventy mission points awarded for killing a pirate with a bounty of 27 million bellies."
