Chapter 149: Inept Fury
Suddenly, a surprising scene left Judge utterly baffled. What had just happened? What was he doing? How did the waves come about?
Where was his castle? Where were his people?
The sea was now filled with clone soldiers who looked like dumplings floating everywhere, struggling to get back onto the snails' backs.
The snails seemed unharmed; the waves seemed to have given them a bath, and their enormous eyes were calm and undisturbed, showing no signs of surprise.
"I told you there would be a tsunami. Mr. Judge, why didn't you listen to my advice? Sigh, it's really, you should do less research, always staying in the laboratory can make people go silly, you see, your brain isn't functioning properly, right?" Rodney shook his head, appearing as if he was saying all this for Judge's own good.
"Shut up! Rodney, it must be you who did this! The person just now riding on the waves was clearly you! Yes! It was your clone!" Judge roared.
"Hey hey, Mr. Judge, be careful not to accuse me falsely! I don't like it when people slander me. You'll die miserably! Just like that!"
"Water Release: Water Dragon Bullet!"
A water dragon burst out, crashing into several clone soldiers and killing them.
"It's you again!"
"I told you not to defame me." Rodney shook his head and said, "Scary things might happen, you know! Another tsunami might come."
"Water Release: Exploding Water Colliding Wave!"
"Yaaah!"
Another man standing on the waves submerged the entire Germa Kingdom again. The clone soldiers who had just boarded the ship fell into the sea once more.
"You..."
Judge stared into Rodney's eyes, his legs going weak, and he knelt directly on the ground.
"Ah, Mr. Judge, what are you doing? My relationship with your daughter is like that of peers. Aren't you being overly courteous?"
Rodney clapped Judge on the shoulder, mockingly saying, "Scoundrel! Then help me up!" He spoke with false concern, but his body was honest, not moving at all.
This extreme humiliation filled Judge with rage, but he didn't dare to act out, fearing that the next "tsunami" might sweep him into the sea.
Seeing through Judge's thoughts, Rodney sneered and said, "Coward. You still have a long way to go, Mr. Judge. You lack the courage to face fear and death. With what are you going to revive the glory of the Vinsmoke family? Just a daydream. Reiju is now a member of my crew. If you harbor any ill intentions, let me make it clear to you—your family won't be spared. Although I have some reluctance to kill a group of people, I won't hesitate when it comes to the thoughtless clone people."
"So, Mr. Judge, if you don't want your efforts to go down the drain, don't touch Reiju. Otherwise, who knows what might happen?"
A threat! An open threat! Judge stared at the face full of mockery, feeling nothing but anger and humiliation.
He wasn't like his genetically modified sons, who were completely devoted to their creator. They would sacrifice themselves for the Vinsmoke family's glory. Their loyalty was akin to a living machine, rigorously executing the commands instilled by their creator.
Judge's heart was heavy. After venting his anger in a fit of inept fury, he returned to his laboratory to work on the serum to neutralize Reiju's toxins. The hybrid poison was potent, and it was fortunate that Ichiji and the others had sturdy bodies. Otherwise, they would have died countless times by now.
Developing the serum was not particularly challenging for Judge, given his expertise in using genetic factors. Thus, he soon developed the serum and used it to detoxify his three wayward sons.
"Father, Reiju has defected," Ichiji said as soon as he woke up.
Judge's face darkened.
"I already know about Reiju's betrayal. From now on, she's no longer a princess of Germa Kingdom or your sister. Dispose of her as you see fit when you encounter her."
"Understood. We failed this mission, Father. It's our responsibility, and Germa suffered significant losses."
Ichiji was more like the future head of the Vinsmoke family compared to Niji and Yonji. Judge had intentionally cultivated this in Ichiji—to be the future king of Germa, he needed to have the qualities of a capable leader.
"I'm aware. For now, we can't provoke Rodney openly. Although our situation is similar to his, we can't afford to clash with him. That monster is too terrifying. We don't yet have the strength to face him head-on."
The power of that man was already overwhelming Germa. Although Judge was reluctant to admit it, Rodney was like that.
"Father, I don't think we need to fear that guy Rodney. He's just someone who defeated us with petty tricks. We haven't even used our Mixed Color Assault," Niji protested.
"Exactly, I agree with Niji," Yonji chimed in.
These two—one arrogant and self-assured, the other a brute—only Ichiji truly analyzed the battlefield situation. He was the one who considered the overall picture and handled everything more maturely. He spoke sternly, "Enough. It's Father's order. We must comply. Stop talking and don't provoke Rodney. Don't act recklessly. Understand?"
"But we..."
Niji wanted to say something, but Judge and Ichiji's stern gazes made him shut his mouth, and Yonji grumbled but complied.
Judge suddenly asked, "What about your battle suits?"
Ichiji's face turned sour. "Taken by that Rodney guy. Reiju taught him how. That traitor!"
"That wretched girl!"
Judge slammed his fist on the table. He didn't mind others researching the secrets of Germa's battle suits. Still, the losses this time were just too extensive.
Germa's battle suits were the culmination of scientific efforts throughout generations of the Vinsmoke family. They couldn't be easily deciphered. Unless someone like Vegapunk, that freak of nature, was involved, the probability of unlocking the secrets of Germa's battle suits was very low.
However, the cost of producing a set of Germa battle suits was extremely high. After Yonji's Jerma Green Battle Suit was taken away, remaking a set had already drained a significant amount of their resources. And that was still through war profits. This time, being blackmailed by Rodney, they had lost four sets of battle suits… no, it was five sets now. On top of that, they lost their most obedient daughter. Judge's mood was really bad.
This Rodney not only took my daughter away but also swindled us out of Germa's crucial combat resources!
This bastard!!
Judge felt deeply aggrieved. They couldn't report this to the Navy either. If Rodney decided to hand over Germa's battle suits to the Navy's scientific research division, letting Vegapunk analyze this vital technology, then Germa's existence would become dispensable.
For Germa, a nation built upon warfare, Bloodline Factors, battle suits, and clone technology were the most crucial technologies.
Having collaborated with Vegapunk, Judge knew how terrifying that man was. He also had to acknowledge that Vegapunk was a genius among geniuses.
Bloodline Factors were something they had researched together. Clone technology was no obstacle for Vegapunk either. Now, if the secrets of the battle suits were discovered, the gap between him and Vegapunk would continue to widen.
As a scientist, Judge also wanted to surpass Vegapunk, but he knew that he simply couldn't.
