Gwen was still choking when Alec patted her back.

" Are you already, babe ? "

"..."

" Ba..ba...babe?! " she choked even harder.

" Gwen this jerk is joking ...right ? " Leo's. chest was heavy. He prayed Gwen either said no or didn't answer at all. From the way they were comfortable around each other , he could already tell they were more than friends.

" Leo...he ..." Gwen tried to explain but he just walked away. He looked disappointed and Gwen felt horrible. She was already feeling despicable for keeping Leo's feelings at an arm's length and now she was hurting him even more. It was all because of this blue eyed idiot! She turned to him .He was grinning profusely like he'd won some war or something. Gwen slapped that grin off his face.He held his cheek. This girl was really had a talent in hitting people.

" Why did you say that to him !??? " she was infuriated . She pushed him but it was like pushing a wall, instead she went tumbling backwards.

" What's the matter? Is he your boyfriend or something? " Alec's lips pressed into a line. He frowned.

" Well...no ..but ...neither are you." Gwen stammered.Alec suddenly hugged her. He was relieved that guy wasn't her boyfriend. He didn't know what he would have done had she said he was .

Gwen slowly wrapped her arms around his waist. She didn't know why but she happy he came back . She closed her eyes and inhaled his scent. She just wanted to drown in his arms.

" Gwen?". A familiar voice spoke. Gwen's eyes shot open. She spun round.

" Mom!" she distanced herself from Alec . Hell!...she was in a funky looking dress , her hair was a mess and she probably looked like shit.

Alec came closer to Marylynne. He was tall...very tall . She had to lift her gaze to look him in the eye. He held out a hand.

" I'm sorry for visiting like this. This is a bit awkward for our first meeting. " his blue eyes pierced through Marylynne's soul. " I'm Alec , your daughter's boyfriend. "

Gwen gasped. He'd lied to Leo and now her mom! This guy was shameless! Gwen nearly had a stroke when she saw her mom blush and shyly take his hand . Her mom was known for her temper and many people said Gwen inherited it from her.

" I... It's my pleasure to meet you. " She giggled. " Oh my! Forgive my manners. Please come in." She dragged Alec to the house excitedly.

Gwen stood there like a statue. Her mom didn't even take a second glance at her .It's like she was invisible.

" You should eat more veggies. They're good for you." She was literally stuffing food down Alec's throat. Gwen was practically leaking with jealousy as she was feeding herself at the end of the dining table. Louis was just watching with a smile on his face.

" You know I'm happy you came. I don't know why you feel like family." Marylynne held Alec's hand.

" Why don't you adopt him then . " Gwen scoffed. " One more family member wouldn't hurt." Louis burst out in laughter.He choked on the water he was drinking. Gwen patted his back but it was more like she was punching him in the back.

" Sis...I still have to make it to school alive." He coughed. Gwen realized she was hurting him.

" Sorry." she glared at Alec before standing . " Can I have a moment with him , mom."

Alec followed her . They're house was even more beautiful on the inside. The walls were spotlessly white . There were paintings on every wall and the furniture was exquisite. They went up the stairs. The Wall had many pictures of Marylynne and Louis and a man Alec made out as Gwen's Dad. There were no pictures of her. Did she not like taking pictures or something? She led him to her room and opened the door. Her room was a whole other world. It was spacious.The walls were covered with paintings . Her bed was in the corner. It was huge. Alec couldn't stop himself from picturing her sprawled all over that bed with him on top of her. He didn't realize he was chuckling.

" What's funny ? "Gwen took out a towel from her wardrobe.

" Nothing. " Alec moved to the gigantic window at the center of the room. He noticed there were no curtains. It's like Gwen was reading his mind .

" I love looking at the sky , so I don't need curtains to block my view. " she yawned. " I'm gonna take a shower. "

" Then why did you say you wanted to 'have a moment with me ' ? " he looked around as though checking if someone was listening. "Miss , do you want me to help you shower? ...Here ...in your mom's presence?" he whispered childishly.

Gwen giggled. " No ...I just wanted to get you away from my mom. She was nearly drooling over you. I don't need you as my new step- dad. " she got into the shower .

Alec realized what she just said . Did her parents get separated or did her dad die? He noticed a frame on the drawer next to her bed. It was a picture of her with the man he presumed to be her dad. She looked so happy .

After sometime Gwen got out of the shower. She was in a white crop top and she wore blue jeans. They brought out her hips just right. Her hair was still moist and she looked inviting. Gwen saw the way Alec looked at her. She was prepared for this . She'd had a heated debate with herself in the shower . She needed to cool down and not let her feelings get the best of her. Yes she'd had boyfriends in the past and she regretted all of them.But she knew she wasn't the best at trusting and opening up her heart. She needed to take things slow . Friends , they could just start off as friends and if they really had feelings for each other they'd progress ...right.

" Alec." She tried to keep the voices in her head calm." I'm not ready to jump into a relationship right now and I...well...it's not that you're not good enough...You are an amazing person...It's not you , it's me." God! She blabbering so much.

" I'm in no rush either." he cut her off ." We can start off as friends." It's like he could read her mind .Alec stood before her. He looked into her eyes. " I just want to be close to you. "

Curse his eyes. Gwen found herself smiling.

" Aren't you going to dry your hair? " Alec tapped her forehead.

" Owwww! Why did you do that? " she winced.

" You were drooling over me . I was just bringing you back from dream world." Alec pinched her nose. Gwen was embarrassed . Was it really that easy to read her?

" I'm in a hurry. I have somewhere to be . Let's leave before my mom gets you a room in my house." Gwen picked up her hand bag .
