The dining hall buzzed with activity as the knights dug into their meals. Ale was passed out and the liveliness of the knights was further lifted.
Henry stared at the cup containing the gold liquid, feeling like it was a bad idea. He took a sip but realized quickly he wasn't in the mood. Trenton, who could outdrink nearly everyone at the table, saw Henry's reaction and readily drank down his former apprentice's drink.
Servants dutifully refilled plates or cut more meat if they were asked. It was a stark difference from the lack of servants in the Commander's fortress where there were only maids who cleaned and maintained the interior while apprentices were tasked with maintaining the exterior.
