Henry woke up early with a start, remembering the night before and what he had witnessed between his mother and the commander.
He had considered that it was just a dream but looking down at himself and seeing that he was wearing clothes he wouldn't usually sleep in, he knew that it was reality.
As he washed his face and hair before setting out for the morning, he wondered how he was supposed to feel. Was he supposed to be offended on behalf of his father? Was that more important than the commander's or his mother's loneliness?
He knew he was being juvenile but it felt like his father had just passed away even if it was years prior.
Being a novice in matters of the heart, all Henry knew was that when he had witnessed his mother and the commander interact for the first time, but of them were the happiest he had ever seen either of them. If there was someone out there like that for them, who was he to stop it?
