Asher, the 5 priests, and I left the village and within a matter of seconds, we arrived at the church via the teleportation spell.

We had two weeks before the start of school and we would be staying at the Holy church.

During the two weeks before school, I spent them exploring the new world that I had been transmigrated into.

A week has passed just like that and today I decided to go to the market with the allowance the archbishop gave me.

I arrive at the market place and smiled when I saw people trading. I walked around some and I saw something that caught my eye.

It was an earring that was gold in color. It was the dangly kind and it seemed really pretty to me. I decided to buy it and smiled as in shone in the sun.

I immediately put it on my ears when I got it, humming in happiness.

Just then, I saw an old woman beating up a poor kid with a broom. The old woman was hitting the child very hard that you could see blood pulling around the hard concrete floor. The young child was about 9 years old and had tattered and ripped clothes.

"You ungrateful brat! Is this how you repay me?!" The old lady screamed.

The kid just groaned in pain.

"How dare you steal from me?!" The woman held the broom up high and was about to stab the poor child in the gut with the edge of the broom.

I was about to step forward when all of a sudden, I saw a blur pass by me.

It was a young man. He was wearing a black cloak with a hood that covered his face. He was very tall and well built. He stood with an aura of confidence. He stopped the broom with his bare hands and gave the old woman a sharp glare.

"You-you!" The woman sputtered.

"Ma'am, you have gone too far, look at the boy."

The old lady looked at him grumpily but backed down. She walked away and the newcomer bent down next to the little boy and helped him sit up.

I came over to them and squatted next to the newcomer and examined the young boy.

He was badly beaten and bruised up by the old lady. I grimaced when I saw his forehead because I knew it will need some stitches.

I gathered my dark mana and encased the boy with it. I knew my dark mana was capable of killing it was able to do the opposite, healing. Jace informed me that although the main purpose of darkness was to kill, it also had the power to "heal" just like the light ability. It was just a matter of reversing the damage to what it previously was. Although it was much inferior to the regular light magic. He also told me that light mana was also able to do the same thing, that is, to kill. They were the same side of the same coin after all.

"Hey." The mysterious boy next to me called out to me.

I paid him no mind as I was trying to concentrate on healing the young boy.

"What are you doing?" He asked.

Annoyed I turned my head back towards him and said, "Healing him."

The young man nodded and watched as the young boy's wounds begun to heal.

Afterward, we watched as the now healthy and healed boy ran off to his home.

We stood there together for a moment before I walked away.

"What's your name?" He said, grabbing my hand, causing me to stop.

I stopped turned around.

"Kai," I said in the spur of the moment.

His face was slightly visible and giving me a grin he said, "The name is Greyscale."

That name sounded oddly familiar. The wind all of a sudden blew and swept off the young man's hood.

The young man quickly put his hood back on.

With that, he ran away without a single glance back.

Although I saw his face for a mere second, it was enough. My heart was pounding in chest wildly.

Hair as black as the night sky, eyes as red as rubies, and skin as white as snow.

I stood there staring after him stupidly.

The young man who I had encounter was none other than Caliban Grayscale, the villain of the book as well as my favorite character.
