"Kai! Wake up!" A young male voice yelled.

I groaned as I opened my eyes. I was startled when I saw a young about that looked to be about 16 years old in front of my face.

The boy had deep blue eyes which seemed to sparkle. The boy's face was covered in grim and he had neck length blonde hair that was covered in filth. But, the dirt could not hide his beauty. He looked like an angel. His hair was tied back in a ponytail and his neck was adorned with a black cord like necklace. His clothes were worn out. The boy was smiling down at me when all of a sudden my world became dizzy and distorted because the very same boy was shaking me awake.

"We are going to be late, let's go!" The boy said as he shoved me off the bed.

What was going on? Where was I? Didn't I just die in the fire? And most importantly, just who was this boy!?

The boy dragged me across the room and was about to shove me through the door when I stopped him.

"Who are you?"

The boy stared at me like I had grew two heads.

"I'm Asher, your bestfriend since we were in the womb! Stop playing around Kai! We need to hurry and go to the village center!" Asher said urgently.

Asher? Village Center? Why did this seem oddly familiar?

I gasped. No way...Did I get isekaied into the book I was reading? And what did Asher just call me? Kai!!!!???

In the book, "The Gold Knight" Kai is the childhood bestfriend of the protagonist, the hero, Asher. His fate is to be abandoned by Asher and spend his days living in the village, waiting for his return. Asher had promised to return for him.

Kai was madly in love with Asher since he was a child and was content in waiting for him.

But...Near the end of the book, about 5 years after Asher leaves Kai, Kai unfortunately gets severely injured from demon raid that occurred in the village. It is then revealed that the God of Death, Jace visits him. Kai's deep love for Asher transforms into a deep hate. Throughout the 5 years of waiting for Asher, Kai heard many news about his first love, Asher. Asher was leading the front lines against the demons. Asher used his light abilities to heal every solider at the battle front. There limbs regrew, even the dead was brought back to life.

Kai thought that when Asher defeated the demons, then he would surely return. But he soon heard news of the engagement between the commoner with light abilities, Asher and the Crown Prince Caspian.

What about me? Haven't I been waiting patiently? The book's Kai had thought.

Thus, when visited by the God of Death, Kai wished for revenge on Asher and the God of Death complied. He granted him Dark abilities and Kai became the next Demon King. Kai's soul went into the Demon King's body in the Icehearth mountain.

When the citizens of Asten thought peaceful days were coming near, the were wrong. They thought that the Demon King Ryder was never going to break the seal on Icehearth mountain but he did. The new Demon King awoken and summoned the most dangerous of the demons, his right hand men, his generals.

Thus, the 2nd Holy War between the demons and humans took place but in the end the humans were victorious.

Asher stabbed Kai, his former childhood friend that turned into the Demon King, right in his heart, vanquishing the evil Demon King and gaining the title "The Gold Knight" And that was how Kai from the book, "The Gold Knight" met his ending.

"What day is it?"

Asher look at me, confused. He scrunched his eyebrows together. "What do you mean? Today is August 1st, Year 950, the day the priest are coming to our village! The day of the mana tests!"

The day of mana tests? Did this mean I got transmigrated as the hero's childhood best friend who was basically the hero's side hoe? The one and only childhood bestfriend that was abandoned by the hero that happened to have the same name as me? Fuck this shit!!! I want to go home!!!

But wait....If I am in the book, does this mean I could meet my bias Caliban?

August 1st, Year 950...

If today is August 1st, Year 950, then that means I transmigrated to the very first chapter of the book! The book takes place over the course of 5 years, the main setting being the Academy. At the Academy is where the protagonist, Asher would meet the capture targets and be bullied by the villain of the novel, Caliban.

Then after the death of the Demon king which marked the end of the Holy War, Caliban is condemned as a traitor and is sentenced to death by the guillotine. But he was innocent!

Caliban, don't worry, I will take down your flags so that you don't meet a bad ending.

Hold up...I gasped. I need to take down my flags as well! After all, my destiny is to be abandoned by Asher and then be severely injured 5 years later by a demon raid. As I am dying, I would be visited by the God of Death and I will become the Demon King who would die by the hands of Asher!

How will I be able to stan my dear Caliban if I am dead?!

I looked at the boy in front of me and shivered. This little boy who is the same age as the host, who looks kind and caring, will kill me within 5 years time. I know in the future he would be formidable.

I don't want to die! I want to spend my days peacefully stanning the book's villain, Caliban!

I hardened by heart. If I want to stan my ultimate bias and pursue him, I need to pass the mana tests that will happen today.

I do not know if the host has any mana within him because in the book, Kai did not test at all simply because he believed he did not have any mana because in Asten, 90 percent of those who have magical abilities are nobles.

Asher was the only who had a magical ability, a rare light ability at that!

I don't have time to prepare or to see if I do have magic because the test is about to begin today!

I bit my lip in frustration.

"Come on, come on!" Asher repeated impatiently.

"Okay, okay, let me put my shoes on first Ash."

I bent down to put on my boots.

I was wearing simple commoner clothes when I woke up so I did not have to change my clothes. As I was about to walk out the door, I was shocked when I accidentally saw my appearance.

Deep black hair, gray eyes and pale skin. It was just like how I looked back on Earth!

I did not have time to dwell of that those because the next thing I knew, I was running with Asher to get to the Village Center.

After running for about 10 minutes, we finally made it.

At the Village Center, there were a group of about 50 children ranging from 16 years old to 20 years old.

Thornclaw Royal Academy was a school founded after the 1st Holy War by the 1st hero, Cedric. Thornclaw Royal Academy only accepted students from the age of 16 to 20 years old.

There were about 5 priests present whom were on a huge stage. In the center of the stage was a big mana crystal that would test magical abilities.

The children were lined up neatly in a line.

I guess we made it right on time because right when Asher and I lined up, one of the priests said, "Welcome, today is the day of the mana test where we test your magical abilities. Although only 10 percent of those with magical abilities are commoners, do not give up hope! You may be part of that 10 percent! Will the first person please step up on the stage?"

This marked the official start of the mana tests.
