18. Going public
Leona feels like she's gonna need to see a physician from all the eyes and mouth twitching she's experiencing since she met this guy. She is always left exasperated by all the situation he put her through.
"Yes, CEO King?" she enunciated each word with a fake smile to remind him not to act rashly and lo and behold Xavier Wang never fail to disappoint.
She ended up clenching her jaw to keep her fake smile when he held her hand, entertwining their fingers in the proccess. "I told you to stay closer, why are you standing far away again."
What happened to take it slow to make it look more believable? She guess Arya's image has turned to a flirt and easy girl who seduced her boss right after getting hired then. Well not like she cares, that was one of the reactions she is expecting anyway, but she atleast didn't wish to appear this shameless! The plan was to slowly appear in public after a month and yet he's speeding up the process.
This society is unfair, of course no one would think that the boss seduced the secretary, it's always the other way around. 'I guess I just need to welcome the backlash with a smile then.' She swears she'll get back at this guy once this assignment is over.
She could feel all eyes on them, with Bei Chunguang's expression that is hard to paint. She feels bad for the little girl, he didn't even answer her invitation and just pulled her towards his office. Wanting to console the kid who's clearly heartbroken, she tried to look back to atleast convey an apologetic look just to get a hostile expression from Chunguang instead.
She sighed in her heart, thinking of her dear Katarina. She'll beat anyone that would give her dear sister the same distress that this girl is experiencing, she glared at Xavier's back.
'This guy dared to make me a shield against my own kind.'
She pulled her hand back when the door closed behind her. "What the hell were you thinking?"
The guy just shrugged, giving her a nonchalant look. "Keeping my end of the bargain, you don't want me to flirt around when I'm supposed to be in love with you, do you?"
He sat on his throne and got back to signing documents while Leona took a deep breath making sure she won't lose her cool, this guy is good with twisting logic and making up excuses so she has to collect her thoughts and reprimand him properly this time.
"You know it's too soon right?" she folded her arms on her chest giving him a disapproving look. "Who falls in love in two weeks? You think we're in some chinese drama?"
To her surprise, the guy just gave her a hostile glare. She's genuinely surprised, his reaction left her feeling defeated. Why is it that he looks at her as if she wronged him? 'Did I say something wrong? Why is he suddenly upset?'
"WHAT? And isn't it normal for businessmen like you to have several flings on the side?"
"Are you done? I need to finish signing these documents today." He said in a serious tone, dismissing her.
She started the conversation to call him out for his childish act, how come it ended with him feeling upset as if she's the one being irrational.
"Fine, don't think I'll overlook this kind of shenanigan again in the future." She turned to leave "Is he on menupause or something, I'm supposed to be the one upset right now." She mumbled under her breath not caring if she heard him.

Chu Liu Xiang parked his car near a restaurant next to a town hospital, it was a small public hospital so he has to find another place to leave his car. He travelled to the neighboring city to visit one of his people who got hurt while protecting a client on a job. He's a busy person but knowing full well from experience how difficult their line of work is, he makes sure that his people feel his presence in this kind of situation so he went out of his way to personally drive to a rural area of Red Meadow City.
He fished his phone from his pocket to dial his secretary's number to check on something as he circled to the backseat to get the fruit basket and food he personally bought for his employee and his family, his hands are full so he sandwiched his phone in between his shoulder and ear.
"Yes, arrange a private room for Lan in St. Jude Hospital. I'll take care of the transfer myself-" Liu Xiang dropped the phone when he was knocked over by someone.
He frowned looking at the kids who were looking apologetic, he bent down to picked up the phone but one of the kids beat him to it. The kid reached out to give him the phone and they bowed down to him, apologizing for the inconvenience and ran away in a haste.
It happened too fast that it was too late for Liu Xiang to realized something was amiss. He places the items back to his car to confirm something and realizing that his wallet is no longer on his jean's back pocket, he slammed the car door to follow the kids' track.
Great! these kids dared to mess with an ex-military guy, analyzing the location he tried to predict the best place they could hide and turned to an alleyway. What he witnessed next left Liu Xiang speechless, he just witnessed the oddest thing that he didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
