16. Counter Attack

Leona took a step back, feeling victorious when the guy before her ran out of words but it was cut short when Xavier held her in place by catching her wrists.

"I told you, you need to be careful or else I would hold you accountable for your actions."

He will never let her 'flirt and run' from him ever again, he'll change his name to Fool Wang if he let it happen the second time.

"What do you mean? Why should I take responsibility? This is part of my job, no malice at all." She explained with a cold smirk.

"Oh part of the job huh?"

There was a knock on the door and for some reason she felt restless when she noticed a fleeting glint on Xavier's eyes. She subconsciously stepped back, sensing danger just to be pulled back and this time she was caged in his arms. Standing in between his legs, with his arms around her.

"What the heck! Let me go now!"

With eyes almost bulging out of her sockets, Leona is trying to threaten him with her glares but he just chuckled.

"Come in." He said before Leona could escape his hold and with those two words she froze in place.

Leona's breathing hitched hearing the door opening and a loud gasp from the person who entered.

"M-my apologies boss, I didn't mean to intrude. I ju..just wanted to ask what you want to eat for lunch." Sam explained, stuttering and fidgeting where he stands.

Never in her entire life was Leona humiliated like this, 'how can this guy be so shameless?' She bowed her head so she could get him out of her sight, trying to control the boiling anger inside her and fisting his shirt with the hands on his chest so she could suppress the urge to punch him.

Xavier looking amused with the seething woman in his arms, let out another chuckle. Only the two of them could feel the tension brewing because from Sam's perspective, they just look like lovers on PDA. Leona looking shy leaning on her boyfriend's shoulder and Xavier looks like a doting boyfriend, staring at his shy girlfriend.

"You d*ckhead, jack*ss! I'll f*cking kill you after this mission Xavier Wang. $^#^#*! &#&#^!" Leona mumbled in a low tone through her gritted teeth, making sure it is loud enough for him to hear but to her dismay Xavier just laughed.

He is f*cking laughing his heart out!

Xavier can't help himself, he knew she's an aloof person but he never thought that she could curse. 'This woman that has a reserved personality could actually curse like a sailor!'

He's never been amused like this in his entire life and with that he laughed some more, squeezing the seething woman in the proccess.

There is no one who dared to insult or scheme against him that had been left unscathed and yet this woman made him felt happy for being threatened just like that.

sam: "...."

'did they just ignore me? God bless my single life, I'm being fed with dog food for lunch.'

No wonder his boss was happy when he saw the CV, one of them is actually his lover! But wait?!? How come his usual ice cold boss is acting like an outgoing person? heck the only time he saw him lift his lips for a smile was when he outsmarted his competitors and it's an evil one at that.

'Huh! no wonder he's acting out of character and hired female secretaries' He never knew that he'll see a romantic side of his boss in this lifetime.

"We'll take care of our lunch, you can go." his boss finally remembered his presence and he happily scrammed out of his office.

"What do you want to eat?" Xavier gently asked the woman in his arms, pleased by how red her ears are.

the woman raised her head and gave him a look that is void of emotion, or atleast she wanted it to look that way. Her ears are giving her away so Xavier can't help but find her cuter and cuter each second that passes.

"So you want to get even with me huh?"

"I'm just doing my part of the job, looking at Sam's reaction he won't ever believe that we're just friends."

"What friends? we're not friends." Leona said through her gritted teeth, enunciating every word to make sure her thoughts were conveyed clearly.

"Exactly what I was going for, we're supposed to be lovers." He just ignored the seriousness of her tone and answered her with a wink and an evil grin that made Leona want to puke blood out of anger.

It's a lost cause, she can't reason with him. 'Might as well talk to a monkey'

No it's a disrespect to compare such a smart animal to this guy, I need to get out from here before I go crazy from too much anger because of this man.

"What? did I get the job description wrong?" he asked innocently.

'Who said he's a domineering, snub guy???' He definitely loves pestering people to death.

Xavier bit his tongue to not let a wince show on his face when he suddenly felt a heel of Leona's stiletto pierced through one of his handmade leather shoes, how can he forget that this woman is a savage one.

She escaped from his embrace the next second and stormed out his room after she frustratedly kicked one of the sofa chair out of her way which made him let out another chuckle.

'Who said she's a stoic doll?' she's definitely a lively one.
