Chapter 40: The Call to the Forgotten Realms

The Nexus was aglow with soft light as we emerged from the Chamber of Echoes. One by one, the crystal paintings went dark behind us, their vivid images still. The Heartseed seemed heavy in my hands, its light steady but with a hidden urgency in it. The truth that we unraveled hung hard on my mind, a shadow further cast across the slim peace obtained. 

It wasn't the problem but a part of something way older and far worse that was buried deep inside the Forgotten Realms. That realization had made me feel fearful and determined. 

Silvermane limped slightly as she walked beside me, wounds bound but spirit unshaken; Ember sprang ahead, keen eyes peering out for the first sight of danger, while the wolves that accompanied us were quiet, their exhaustion and grim resolution audible in their silence.
