That won't be necessary

Summer woke up the next morning to a crazy loud knock on her door.

"Uhg, who is it"?

She opened the door only to see her landlady. She banged the door to her face and put her hand on her mouth instinctively.

"I see, I know you know the reason why I am here Zara. You either pay me or leave this apartment. I know you can hear me!!"

Her landlady kept screaming. Zara place her hand in her hair and began scattering it in confusion. There was no way her part-time job could pay for her rent this month. She rushed to her laptop and began looking for any available day-paying job. She searched for hours but nothing.

"Uhg, why is it so hard to find a frickin job"?

She was about to give up when one caught her attention. A waiting job for a party. It wasn't paying all of her rent but, it was paying more than half of it.

She picked up her phone and called. Luckily for her, she got the very last slot and the party was this evening. She rushed to the organizing company and collected her uniform while going through some other formalities.

Evening came by pretty fast and it was time to get busy. It's been a while since I last did anyway waitressing job but, I had experience and I was more than ready to put it to good use. I would do anything than go back to my parents' place right now.

I joined the other waiters and went to get drinks to serve the guests who were already in the venue for the event. It looked like it was a very classy party as almost everybody looked like high dignitaries. The venue was the house of one of the richest families in the whole of City F.

While I was serving, I heard someone call my name so I turned around. I saw Cassie coming toward me and it was obvious she was here for the party forcefully that is.

"Yo, what are you doing here"?

She asked.

"Well, I'm here to work as you can see ma'am. Would you like anything to drink"?

I asked and she couldn't help but laugh.

"What are you doing"?

I signed and told her.

"Look, I'm not allowed to talk to guests so... let's talk after the party".

I said. Cassie was my best friend so she would understand that I didn't want to lose this job. After Zara left, Cassie's dad called for her and began to introduce her to every bachelor at the party.

"This is my daughter, Cassie. She is the sole heir to Chadsworth empire".

The event was almost over and Zara was very happy that she was almost done without any issues. As she was still trying to praise herself a little, she turned around only to bump into a particular person and spill wine on his clothes.

"Oh my God, I am so sorry, I'm so sorry. I did not see you there".

She picked a wipe and tried to wipe his clothes away but he held her hand and said.

"What do you think you are doing"?

I looked at him and it was the man whose call I have been waiting for, for so long. But right now, it was obvious that he didn't even remember her and it was also obvious that I was doomed.

I completely forgot about any pleasantries and was begging. The manager rushed out and also tried to apologize to the cold-looking man.

"Mr. Brian, we are so sorry, this is a mistake that is never going to happen again".

"Seeing how you employ inexperienced people, I'm very sure this will happen again".

"No, never Sir. As a matter of fact..."

The manager looked at me and said

"You are fired".

I looked at the manager and then looked at the cold man whose name I just found out and then looked at the manager again.

"Please, I really need this job".

"That has nothing to do with me, if you needed to keep this job, then, you would have been more careful Do you know who you spilled wine on"?

The place was already crowded as everyone had gathered to see what was happening. I was so embarrassed but that wasn't the major issue, I was so furious that I wouldn't be getting paid after doing so much.

Jameil O Brian did not forget Zara, he remembered her from the very beginning. Actually, he has been looking at her from a distance for a while and he bumped into her intentionally to see her reaction. Normally, any other girl would ask questions like 'Don't you remember me' and this and that but she just kept apologizing and it even looks like she didn't remember him at all.

Brian kept looking at her as she was pleading but her manager interrupted his view by standing in front of Zara. Her manager bowed and apologized once again.

"Please forgive her Mr. Brian".

He excused himself and then held Zara by the hand while dragging her out of the venue.

I was still trying to figure out how he could be so cold to fire me on the spot besides, it wasn't as though I poured the entire thing on his body, It was just a tiny bit of it. I was pissed and I felt unfairly judged. Even though I didn't have the right to because these people were just too powerful, I felt like going back there and slapping him.

"What do you think you were doing huh? Why did you pour wine on the major image of the night"?

I looked at him unable to understand what he was saying.

"What do you mean by that"?

I asked. He sighed and told me in a more calm voice.

"Zara, this party was organized by Mr. Brian's grandma to find him a wife. It's not just anybody, it's a party that holds the highest class of people in our entire society".

He closed his eyes as though he was trying to calm down and then he looked at me again.

"I'm going to pay you for your job, I'll pay you exactly what I have promised. But, you have to leave. I can't afford to lose better opportunities simply because I spared you. I hope you understand".

I looked at him and my eyes lit up.

"Really? You are going to pay me? Thank you thank you so much. I'll be leaving now".

He nodded and I ran out immediately.

Brain kept looking at the lady who was so scared just a few minutes ago jumping for joy as she left the mansion.

"Should I dig into her for you boss"?

He dropped the glass of champagne he was having and said

"That won't be necessary".
