I became an NPC in The Great Tomb of Nazarick

This is an AU! In a world where Earth is dying and humanity struggles, virtual reality games, especially the VR game YGGDRASIL, provide an escape. Momonga, the leader of a powerful race in YGGDRASIL, remains online as the game faces shutdown. Alone, he reconnects with a comrade, Bukubukuchagama, before YGGDRASIL's closure. Meanwhile, in Nazarick's ninth-floor library, an androgynous character named Thoth, a trapped soul, anticipates freedom as the game ends. Upon the game's closure, Thoth gains control of his movements and discovers his angelic form. As Thoth explores his new abilities and surroundings, a mysterious world awaits beyond the virtual realm. With an enigmatic library, magical prowess, and a goal to adapt to the new world, Thoth embarks on an adventure, uncovering his true potential and encountering diverse characters within the Great Tomb of Nazarick. As the story unfolds, alliances, conflicts, and loyalty to the supreme one, Momonga, shape the fate of Nazarick and its inhabitants in this virtual-to-real fantasy journey. -x-x-x- I've only seen the anime, and have only read the later half of the LN (at which point, the story will be completely different anyway so it won't matter), so forgive any inaccuracies. Also, I don't know much about angel lore as an atheist, so I'm gonna be making up my own stuff. Hope you like the story and have a good one. Carne Village

The three elves, dressed in rags though notably no longer dirty in any way most likely thanks to Thoth's divine energy washing over them looked around at the village around them, new items and clothes in hand.

A decent-sized town square could be seen around them separating into four main streets, one of which, the one heading in the West-East axis, seemed to be slightly larger.

At the entrance of each of these streets, two statues could be seen.

One depicted a small child with hundreds of eyes and angelic wings holding a flower in his hands while gently smiling, the other depicted a large undead with flowing robes holding his hands high in a grandiose manner, he also had a brilliant staff in hand.

In the middle of the town square, a large fountain could be seen, on the outer wall of said fountain, tiny statues of these two figures could be seen periodically repeating while the fountain itself had plenty of various symbolism carved into it, with at least one for each Supreme Being.

The water within the fountain was a perfectly clean and pure blue. The entire small town seemed to be completely clean, as if dirt and filth dared not touch this sacred holy place.

The three elves attracted attention as they appeared from Thoth's [Gate] spell, a spell that all people who had witnessed their appearance had seen. People were immediately on their knees, believing something divine to be happening.

The elves were confused. What was happening they did not know and neither did they know anything about the place they were in.

Meanwhile, as everyone was waiting for something to happen, Nfirea and Enri could be seen walking down a large street toward the town square, Enri looked rather annoyed while Nphirea looked a bit awkward.

Enri was no longer wearing her village girl clothes, instead, she was wearing a comfortable-looking red dress, two marble earrings were adorning her ears, one a small statue of Thoth and the other a small statue of Ainz.

Nfirea also looked different, while shy as always, he was now wearing what looked like a scientist's lab coat, and his hair, which used to cover his eyes, had been cut short at the front, allowing his bright blue eyes to be visible, albeit barely.

"Honestly Enfy, I never wanted to rule be chief of a village! Now I have to rule a town?!"

"W-Well... It's not a town yet..."

"OH PLEASE! Don't get smart with me Enfi!"

"Sorry, sorry, but still, Sir Thoth and Lord Ainz deemed you fit for the role! And Lupus agreed with that too, not to mention the angels like you as well."

"I-... Ughhh!" Enri held her hurting head with her arms.

The once small village, while not outright a town yet, is basically on its way to becoming a medium-sized town shortly. The buildings are made from stone either given to them by Nazarick or bought from other nearby sources, the larger streets are also paved with stone, and various other infrastructures have had to be constructed.

The reason for this sudden growth is simple, when Ainz and Thoth saved the threatened villages, all of them fell to their knees in worship, however, Carne Village received the most attention from them. So, naturally, they all moved to Carne Village.

They were given the information that Carne Village is the favored one via visions through dreams, neither Thoth nor Ainz gave them these visions of course, but the people don't know that.

So, now Enri had to manage a rapidly growing town, if Enri hadn't sked Lupus to ask Nazarick for help, the village would have collapsed from the sudden strain, but luckily, Enri did ask. And so did Lupus.

Lupus didn't- She couldn't forget to inform Lord Ainz again, lest she be called worthless once more.

That lessened the stress Enri was feeling, but there was still the fact that she was now the leader of a heavily religious, downright fanatically religious, burgeoning town which was no doubt going to attract attention from the authorities eventually since the people refused to worship the standard six Gods and instead worshiped the 41 Supreme Beings, though Thoth was also heavily worshipped and statues of him and Ainz decorate the city the most.

Lupus did insist the statues of Ainz are larger than Thoth's, which was fine since Lord Ainz is a God and Thoth is "only" an angel.

"But what if they become angry with me and try to overthrow me or something?! They are super fanatical! It's scary..."

"Oh, Enri you know that will never happen, you were chosen by the divine to lead us, if you were not fit for the task, they wouldn't want you to lead! Have some faith. If not in them then in me, because I'm always here to help."

"*Sigh*... Well, okay. Thanks Enfi." Enri said as she smiled gently.

Nfirea immediately lost all his composure after seeing her cute sweet smile, so he diverted the subject. "Oh! I-Isn't it kinda quiet all of a sudden?"

"Huh, you're right. The town square is always busy at these times... Let's check it out!"

The duo then ran to the town square, where they witnessed a large group of people kneeling in front of what looked like three elf slaves, the slaves looked just as confused, seemingly unaware of where they were.

Enri was about to complain in her mind that none of the goblins were around, but considering they were busy helping with the construction of the wooden wall around the city... That SHE ordered be built ASAP... Yeah, that's her bad.

She held back her sigh and put on her serious major face.

"Excuse me, could someone explain what's going on?"

"It's the Chosen!" "Was she not informed of this by the 41 Supreme Beings?" "Ah, to see the chosen again, what an honor!"

Enri ignored the mutterings as the blond elf Sol spoke.

"We were transported here by our Saviour Sir Thoth, I do not believe this is Carne Village, is it?"

"It is..." Enri once again held the urge to sigh, "Follow me."

And so they departed from the town square, this would no doubt create a buzz in the 500 people strong, and growing, town.

Enri and Nfirea live together as co-rulers of the city, though on paper Nfirea is Enri's subordinate, being the head researcher and alchemist while Enri holds absolute power over everything within the town, something which causes her great worry.

Enri originally intended for herself to continue living in her humble house, but the people could not allow such a thing. How could THE Chosen herself live in a small shack of a home?! Still, her will was absolute, but Enri decided to compromise.

She still lived in her home, however, it is now significantly larger, though nowhere near a mansion, it is a very nice-looking wooden and stone home, one which still resembles her original home in some ways.

It now had two stories, on the first was the kitchen, living room, bathroom, and dressing room while the second one held Enri's and her sister's and Nfirea's bedrooms, balcony, some guest rooms, and space for other personal items.

Sadly, Nfirea has so far not managed to tap that since Enri did not go through severe trauma which would forcefully open her heart to Nfirea's feelings, but still, with time, something may blossom.

Bard is certainly shipping it as well, and she'll be damned if the ship doesn't sail.

Anyway. Their shared home is at the end of the main street, which cut directly through the middle of the town, meaning they could see the town square from the balcony and the opposite side of the town, which has a wooden wall, that is still being constructed, to protect it while they gather enough stone.

As they entered their home, Enri's sister could not be heard, mainly because she was outside with her friends at the moment. Enri reflexively panicked until she remembered her sister informing her of her plans to go outside with her friends.

Her parents do not live with her anymore, mostly because they wanted Enri to learn to live alone, and also there is the fact that Enri is a very important person, basically a celebrity and the old couple wanted to have at least some peace in their life.

They do live nearby though, and are always open to help Enri out, or so they said.

After they removed their shoes, of which the elves had none, they entered the home.

The living room is rather spacious, with a large white couch that has a few black pillows and a large leather carpet covering the floor. Various wooden toys could be seen scattered about, a fancy, wooden, hand-made chandelier illuminated the room at night while a couple of large windows allowed one to look outside.

The kitchen, which had no wall separating it from the living room, could be seen on the left. It is of normal size, though the various knives and other instruments are of notable quality, hand-made by the town's blacksmiths with the greatest care.

In front of the couch, a small wooden table could be seen placed on the carpet, opposite the couch on the other side of this table, another couch, once again white with a few black pillows, could be seen, most probably for guests.

Enri motioned for the three to sit down while she and Nfirea sat opposite them.

These couches, along with the fancy dresses, clothing, and everything else of notable value were given to them by Nazarick, more specifically, Lord Ainz himself when he came to visit the town after Lupus informed him of the new crisis.

The people wanted Enri to keep all of these incredibly expensive things, as she is the leader of them all and clearly holds divine favor. Which is why this house is probably worth more than Enri can comprehend.

"So, you have met Sir Thoth?" Enri asked.

Luna decided to answer. "Yes, he gave this to us too" She then motioned to the clothing and items that she placed on her lap.

"...Okay, right. Go upstairs and change first, I don't want to see you in these rags."

"Okay." the three then walked upstairs, equipping their new clothing and items.
