At Beacon Academy.
As soon as Professor Port's class ended, the students quickly gathered their belongings and rushed to their next class. Bartholomew Oobleck, the history doctor, was already waiting for them in the classroom. The students took their seats and prepared themselves for another engaging lesson on past events and cultures.
Unlike Port's class, they were quite okay learning from Doctor Oobleck.
Today, Doctor Oobleck taught about the Faunus Revolution and how it changed the course of history. His in-depth explanation of the circumstances that led to the uprising and how it ultimately resulted in a bitter war piqued the students' interest.
Sullivan was listening carefully. Oobleck talked very fast.
'How can someone talk so fast yet never lack oxygen like that?"
He could only wonder and would never get the answer he wanted.
"Have any among you been subjugated and discriminated against because of your heritage as a faunus?"
Oobleck asked the class, his eyes scanning the room for any Faunus students who might have experienced discrimination.
The students shifted in their seats, some looking uncomfortable at the direct question. Oobleck's expression softened as he continued,
"It's important to understand the impact of history on our present and future. Let us learn from past mistakes and work towards a more inclusive society."
The class nodded in agreement, grateful for Oobleck's empathetic approach to teaching.
And as he was about to continue teaching, someone spoke. Sullivan could only sighed. Well, racism is everywhere.
"They are just animals. We should train them better than this."
Cardin spoke arrogantly and was racist, causing a tense silence to fall over the classroom. Oobleck's expression hardened as he turned to face Cardin, his eyes blazing with fury.
"That kind of language is not acceptable in this classroom," he growled.
His voice was low and menacing. The other students shifted uneasily, unsure of what would happen next. But Oobleck remained focused on Cardin, determined to make him understand the gravity of his words.
"We do not tolerate racism or bigotry here," he continued sternly. "Now apologize to your classmates."
However, Cardin refused to apologize and instead told Oobleck that he spoke the truth.
"Why should I?"
Oobleck was becoming more angry. but before he could speak to Cardin more. something happened.
"Huh?"
Oobleck, who was angry earlier, had now become confused. Suddenly, Cardin's body began to change and transform. His skin turned green, and he sprouted antlers from his head. He had become a Faunus! No, he became Faunus even more than Faunus!
Everyone was shocked and didn't know what had happened. Cardin looked at himself in confusion, not understanding what had just happened to him. Oobleck forgot about their argument and rushed over to help Cardin, who was now in need of assistance.
"What happened to me?"
Cardin exclaimed, afraid of the unknown fate that awaited him as a newly transformed Faunus.
Blake looked at Sullivan. She knew it was his doing. She had seen this before. It was the work of Sullivan's transformation magic. Blake couldn't believe he would go this far in order to teach Cardin a lesson.
Sullivan caught Blake's eye and gave her a quick wink, silently telling her not to thank him for what he had done. Blake couldn't help but roll her eyes at his antics. Despite his questionable methods, she knew that Sullivan did it for her.
'So he knows after all.'
She had suspected that he had known all along, but now she was certain. She could feel his gaze on her, and she knew that he could see through her like an open book. It made her feel vulnerable and exposed, but at the same time, she was relieved. At least now she didn't have to hide who she really was from him.
Oobleck needed to end class early and bring Cardin to the infirmary to check if the transformation was permanent or not.
