Chapter 2: Why A Different World!?

Arnott had walked for a few hours and eventually reached a town after what was an uneventful walk. 'There's a lot of flora I don't recognize here.' Arnott thought as he reached the edge of what appears to be a town with a fence surrounding it.

A guard stopped him as he was about to enter the town. "Sorry, but I don't recognize you, do you have any form of identification on you?" The guard asked.

"Ah, will this work?" Arnott asked as he brought out his wallet and handed the guard his id. The guard inspected it.

"I don't know what language this is, but the portrait is well done, I'd even mistake it for a seeing portal." The guard said as he handed the card back to him. "Well, we have a guild nearby, go over to it and sign up, they'll issue an identification card, if you can't pay the fee, they'll send you on a small job to pay for it." The guard explained as he pointed to a fairly large building with a board over the door that says, 'Silver Fairies Adventurers Guild'.

Arnott nodded and headed to the guild, checking his pockets to see if he was gifted any of this world's currency as well as the abilities. Unfortunately, there was none. He entered the guild and walked up to the front desk where a woman was standing with the usual customer service smile.

Her tits are the size of watermelons and her dress shows the shape well. Her hair is long and brown and her eyes are blue in color. "How may I help you?" The woman asked.

"I would like to join." Arnott said. The woman nodded and grabbed some papers, then placed them on the desk, facing Arnott.

"Sign those. If you cannot pay the fee, you may take a small job, or give us something of similar value." She said with a warm voice. Arnott nodded and signed the papers. Really, it was just a form that needed to be filled out though.

"Could I give this as the payment?" Arnott asked as he handed the clerk a one-dollar bill. "It's something from my homeland." He said.

"Just one moment, I'll ask the guild master." She said with a bow as she took the dollar bill and went to the back of the guild. After a moment, she returned. "This will suffice." She said. "The next part of registration is to put your hand on the orb over there." She said as she motioned to the orb on her left. She put the paper on the orb. "The paper goes there to seal the information on it to you." She explained.

Arnott placed his hand on the orb and it began to glow. After a moment, the glow faded and the paper had turned into a card.

"Allow me to confirm your guild card." She said as she extended her hands for the card to be placed in. Arnott handed her the card and she read it over. "That concludes your registration. The job board is to your left and the tavern section is on your right. We, the Silver Fairies Guild, extend a warm welcome to you, Mr. Aries." She said with a warm smile.

Arnott nodded. "Thanks." He said as he walked over to the job board. 'I guess my first move is to get somebody to swear fealty to me, but I'm not quite sure how I would do that. I would assume it'd be easiest to get goblins to swear fealty, but to start, I should try to get humans under my power, mostly because they're likely far more intelligent.' He thought as he looked at the various jobs on the board.

'Not only that, but the way goblins breed is with the women of other races, so having human women would allow me to build forces more easily at a faster pace. Also, if I use appraisal, I should be able to find the most fertile women as well as the women with the best genes for the job.' He continued.

'If slavery is legal, then buying a female slave would be a good start, but in order to do that, I need money.' He thought as he picked up a gathering job from the board. 'Weapons would also be useful.' He thought as he brought the job over to the front desk.

The clerk stamped it. "Good luck." She said. Arnott nodded and exited the guild to do the job. He quickly went to the edge of the town and walked past the guard he spoke to earlier, then went to the forest to look for the herb that was requested.

By utilizing appraisal, it took him no time to find the amount required and return. He placed the herbs on the desk with the quest paper. The clerk took the herbs and stamped the quest, then handed Arnott twelve bronze coins.

"Great job out there, it was surprisingly fast." She said with what seemed like a genuine smile.

"Thanks. I'm familiar with that one, so it wasn't difficult for me." Arnott said.

"I see, well, there's no limit on how many jobs you can take a day, so do as many as you like." She said. Arnott nodded.

Arnott spent a few days doing guild work and saving money to buy a weapon, then got a bronze sword and took an escort mission to the nearest city. The trip was uneventful and he made it to the city without incident.

He went to the guild and submitted his completed quest and gained some money. After that, he scoped the area for inns to see what would be the best choice, then went to the market.

The market is filled with various stalls and buildings each selling various things, with the exception of the occasional cage cart holding what appear to be slaves. Each trader is saying something to advertise. Arnott checked his wallet, where he has been keeping his coins.

'Five silver, seventy-nine bronze.' He counted.

I decided to do the currency like this: Bronze > Silver > Gold > Mythril. It's also 100-1, so every hundred bronze is one silver, and so on and so forth.

Also, the guild system is international, the name before 'adventurers guild' is the guild branch name.
