I go back to the guild to take another quest. I talked a bit with the gods and got to the conclusion to take an S-rank one this time. The dream magic takes some time to activate and I don't want to die for being careless. The receptionist welcomes me with a smile.
R:" Hey Vidar, back again?"
V:" Yes, I want to try new things again."
R:" Sure you do. We got some S-Rank quests, but we also have a special one, asking for highly talented people. Do you want to hear about it?"
V:" Not yet, I really have to test my skills first. They are kind of risky."
R:" Well, then I recommend the Shaman-King in the North. He is probably alone and should be slow to attack"
V:" I'll take that one thank you."
I wait for it to be written into the logbook, then leave towards the north. After walking for a while I enter a forest, which seems a little off.
M:" Wait. This forest is manipulated. Those flowers cannot grow in this season."
G:" Is there any negative magic?"
D:" No, but if there is I can counterspell it easily."
V:" Wait you can counter spells?"
D:" I learned it recently. What do you think I went silent for?"
V:" We'll be fine then"
Further entering the forest progressed without problems. We talked a bit about our pasts, until we see a small cave, matching the description on the quest. We go silent and get closer. As we step closer a certain feeling gets bigger. A feeling that clenches your breast and makes you feel uncomfortable. The feeling of death. We sneak around, while silencing our steps with magic. After stepping inside we smell something rotten, probably coming from the feeling of death. Looking at the wall with the dream-eye seems to be logical. I immediately regret doing that. The thoughts burned into the walls, the ground even the air - are centered around agony, despair and sorrow.
We remain silent and communicate internally.
M:" This is one of those people I want you to stop."
G:" No matter what, the one responsible for this will die."
V:" Indeed."
We sneak further in and see someone standing at a workbench. As he moves we spot a corpse on it. I snap and attack him with a dream of the horrors, which the one on the table had to live through. It was a completely instinct-based action, as i didn't even know I could do that.
He falls to the ground and screams, but as he turns I see his face. This was one of the guys that invaded our village. One of the guys that held my father down, while my mother had to face those things. I feel angered, up to the point colors start to appear again. Flames in purple, gold and white start coming out of my body, until I was fully covered.
D:" Don't. He isn't worth to corrupt you to that point."
V:" No? But it certainly feels like it."
M:" You don't want to corrupt others dreams, he certainly deserves everything you desire. I have no reason to stop you."
G:" I would do it myself, if you don't."
I think for a few minutes.
V:" I will not give him what he deserves. He will stay here."
G:" Really? You are going to leave him unscathed."
V:" I didn't say that. He will stay in that dream, until all of those criminals are dead."
M:" ... A good way to punish him."
D:" ..."
I let the dream continue and leave. I go back to the village, enter the hotel and inspect my stats before going to sleep.
