"I'm not impressed." He said and Kalina guessed the laughter in his words. "Still." She returned, trying to match his amusement and completely failing. That man had a knack for annoying her, that was for sure. ¿Why? Kalina didn't know for sure. She felt a little stupid about the discovery, but there was something else. Something attracted her to him, that was undeniable.
The group advanced another half hour before seeing part of the bay and the port. Their transport was anchored about two miles from the coast. With her sails furled, it was a sturdy frigate filled with cannons.
Armed to the teeth... Kalina thought. Despite her limited knowledge of ships, she could count at least thirty-three cannons. Perhaps the royal family expected an assault even at sea. Kalina suppressed a curse as she glanced sideways at Valian.
Once the party rounded the promontory, the small bay was completely visible.
Beautiful… The panorama was splendid and it was impossible not to appreciate it.
The white cliffs contrasted against the azure blue sky and the waves of an intense, rich indigo. Kalina could not help but gaze at it in admiration from her seat. At the same time, she kept her senses sharpened, watching for any danger.
