Chapter 14

"Boo, you're welcome back, how was the trip?" Nina, my girlfriend stands up from the couch, hugs and gives me a kiss.

"It was okay", I reply her whiles trying to be polite.

"Food is ready, let's join the others, We have to talk after that." I continue speaking as she adjusts her mini skirt knowing well how I dislike indecent dressing.

"Mmmm, this food tastes sumptuous, I take a bite of my yam with palaver sauce and notice Mildra seated opposite me at the dining table has barely touched hers. She seems tensed.

I look directly into her eyes, nod my head and beckon her to eat the food.

"So where are you from?" My sister breaks the silence at the dining table as she stares intently at Mildra.

I'm from Kwa..Kwa..hu. She stammers as my whole family listens attentively to what she is saying.

Mildra needs a place to stay for a while, she's tired so please don't bother her. I will tell you all about her but not now when we're all enjoying our meal.

I interrupt to rescue Mildra from my sister who is bent on knowing who this girl is.

"Okay, my bad"... My sister chuckles and continues eating her food.
