I'll Take the Best Out of This Useless Reicarnation

Beware that this is a smut and fast-paced story. There's also abuse and violence. If you are sensible about it, don't read it. It's an adult romance-fantasy-historical story. So, don't complain about the heavy content later!!!! One more thing, the story contains many songs in it, since the protagonist decided to make the songs she used to love on earth, known in this new world. • • • Hope Ariella Bissonnette. That was her name now, after dying in a terrorist attack when she was arriving in Australia, back when she was Anna Le Beaumont, on earth, who had an absolutely tough life. She had been reborn in the world of a novel, as the first daughter of a southern Count. But not as the heroine or the villainess, as she used to see it happening in the novels she enjoyed reading. No, she was just a useless character with no sentences but a mention in the story. However, when she realized there was more to her persona than the novel talked about since it was centered on Duke Luc Von der Meer and 2nd Royal Princess Alina Desormeaux's complicated love story, she decides that the best course to stay alive would be to hide the power within her and live a low profile life. But after she finds out that her kind fiancée was having an affair with her bastard step-sister, she loses it. After all, she spend so long to find someone suitable and with who she would be able to bear being close, and now all her effort had gone to waste because of her step-sister and her stepmother's jealousy. Then, after she breaks off her engagement, and postpones her 20th birthday ball, her ex and her step-sister get married in a hurry, and just a month later, she comes and announces that she was three months pregnant, meaning she was sleeping with Hope's fiancée way before she found out and broke it off. And all of that on the day Hope had chosen to throw her masquerade birthday ball, after postponing it. Even though she's pissed, she goes with it, already having in mind that if that bitch tried to get her spotlight, she would make her regret by showing everyone present exactly what she caught them doing the day she made herself single again. But she didn't expect to meet him there, the mysterious northern silver-haired tall, and hot man that she hadn't invited it. She found herself drawn to him instantly, as he also approached her. Still having plans of finding a perfect husband in mind, she straightforwardly proposed to the man. He didn't say no. But didn't say yes either. However, as he responded to her flirting, she decided it was a good either to stay with him since he got her body warmer like no one ever did. After going with her plan and singing some songs she used to love hearing in her past life, Hope got everyone impressed. And the man, who had asked her to dedicate one of the songs to him, was there, enchanted by her. The ball became chaotic when her step-sister tried to get the spotlight with the news of the pregnancy, and Hope didn't have it. With the help of the mysterious man, she went forward with the first part of her revenge. But as her dad got aggressive and lost his mind, the man protected her and took her away from there. She didn't even know his name, but it didn't matter, since he was there. He had defended her from her father, and that made her sure that he was the one she should marry. What he did make her crave for him with all her soul. Little did she know that he went there for her because he had been trying to find a way to get to her for months. He was yearning for her like he never yearned for anything in his life. But he knew that if she knew his identity, she would try to stay away since the rumors said she didn't have a good feeling towards him, even though they had never met. He wanted her, but as she was engaged, he kept his distance. But as they broke it off, he got his chance. He just hadn't expected her to be so straightforward with what she wanted from him, or that she would want him that badly.

WHOEVER IS BEHIND THE DOOR, MUST HAVE shit themselves.

"S-s-sir, Obsidian is here!" He whispered but it was useless with the ears I have, and I felt goosebumps spread down my spine as I recognized who he was talking about.

In the novel, Luc Von der Meer had two people he trusted on with his eyes closed. One was the master of the spies, and the other the one who looked over all the finances and political things of the Dukedoms, while the male lead took over the battle front and lead the army. Of course, he was more skilled than both his right and left hand man, but it was with their help that he was able to take care of the Dukedom as well as he did.

Opal was the nickname of Eduard Struycken, the man who helped him with the finances and political shit. As his mother was southern, he was known for his red hair, which is uncommon there, and marine blue eyes, as well as his pale skin.

Whereas, Obsidian was the nickname of Sir Achiel Hennis, the master of the spies in the Dukedom, and very dangerous guy, but not as much as Luc. And him more like the other northern people who live in the east part of Luc's territory, with a darker skin, very much like the Latinos on earth, with honey hair, almost blonde, and stormy grey eyes. He also was described to have a stronger accent than the other characters mentioned in the novel.

And if he's here, and Jay is a spy as he told me before, he must be here to scold him. After all, Jay said he came here on his own accord, and this will cause problems with some people of the south, since he's from the north, and for all most people know, he just took me from my home without my father's permission. He'll get in trouble because of me.

I gulped and got up, "Who is it, Jay?"

By how he clenched his hands, he seemed frustrated, "Someone who shouldn't be here at this hour," he exclaimed annoyed.

Is he crazy? He shouldn't talk like that to that man. And he said I was reckless.

"Oh, Jay, don't say it like that," the man came in and he was just like the novel described, making me assumed a defensive stance and get closer to Jay. "Lady Hope Ariella Bissonnette," he glanced at me and bowed lightly, the turned to Jay with a mocking grin. "You really came after the little crow, didn't you? Do you know the trouble you may have gotten us into?" Oh fuck.

Gulping, I put myself in front of him, "I'm no little crow, Obsidian or whatever you name may be."

He grinned amused, "And you even got engaged to her," he said looking at our rings. "Oh my, look at you, Jay. Tying the knot to this ticking bomb."

Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath, using my telekinesis to push Jay away from me. Then I looked up to the man, feeling the fog already beginning to cover me. "I don't care if you are a stronger figure on the north, little bitch, but right now you are in the south. And I'm a Lady of the south, so be respectful. You won't like what I'll do to you if you piss me off."

But he didn't look scared, "So the black cat has claws, hm? And look at that, your eyes turned gold. Why is that?"

"Excuse me?" I glared at him.

"What? I'm curious. And who wouldn't be? It's been centuries since we last saw a shadow magic wielder," he took a step closer. "Are you going to kill me?"

Then I heard Jay's familiar giggled behind me, "If I were you, I wouldn't be so close to her, Obsidian. There's a reason why she pushed me far from her like this. And I assure you, it wasn't to protect me from you."

The asshole gulped and looked at me again, and he began to take three steps back, but I closed and locked the door with my mind. "You don't want to kill me, okay? That won't be of any good for you, or him."

I clicked my tongue annoyed, but knowing he was right. "I was just scaring you," I took a step back and hummed the song faintly to make it all come into me again. My knees felt weak, but before I could fall, Jay caught me. "If I killed a person from the north, that Duke of yours would target me. And I don't want that," I mumbled with my eyes still closed.

"That Duke of ours? How amusing to hear you say that. Are you really hostile towards him as the rumors said?" There was a hint of something else in his voice, but I didn't get it.

Then I opened my eyes again, and saw the mockery smile on his lips, "I just don't want anything from him."

"Funny you say that," as his eyes went to Jay, I gulped. Oh, I shouldn't say theses things to him, Luc is still Jay's Duke, and that could bring problems to him.

I don't want that. "I know Jay works to him, and respects him. You don't need to worry, I will never do anything that could harm Duke Luc Von der Meer in any way. I just don't want to cross paths with him."

"How reassuring," he smiled differently, but his eyes were still on Jay, unmoving.

With some effort, I got up and Jay helped me sat down on my chair again. "Are you okay, Hope?" Kind of.

"Yes," then I turned to Achiel Hennis again, "but if you try anything funny, I promise you to show what shadow magic can do to a human body."

"Deal," but the he turned to Jay and got all serious again. "You know the consequences of what you are doing, right? What you will have to deal with in the future, by being with her? And how she might react to… everything?!"

"I am aware," it was all he said.

"Okay, then. But I still have other serious things to talk to you about, Jay." Then he looked at me, "I'm sorry, Lady Ariella, but I'll have to steal him from you for a while."

I cringed when he called me that, "Don't call me Ariella. I hate it. Call me Hope."

But he smirked mischievously, "That makes me want to call you Ariella even more, Lady Ariella."

"Asshole," I mumbled loud enough for him to hear.

Jay giggled softly, "Okay. Stop that." He turned to me, "I'm sorry, Hope, but I'll have to go now. Will you be okay?"

"I have three magic powers within me, Jay, I'm sure I'll be alright. Don't worry, I understand you have…" I sided looked Achiel Hennis with disdain, "work to do. And you better come back unscathed, got it?"

Even the asshole giggled to that. "I will," then he kissed my forehead, but I held his face with both my hands, and kissed him softly on the lips. And to my surprise, he blushed hard, "O-o-okay, now I'll b-b-be going. Eat the d-d-dinner!"

As he stormed out of the dining room embarrassed, I giggled to myself, "Why is he suddenly shy like that?" I asked myself.

"I don't know how he is with you, but he was always kind of shy like this," Achiel Hennis said, looking at the door. "At least, since I met him he was like that. Especially when we talked about girls. That prude of a man always avoided these topics."

I gasped, "Prude? I wouldn't call him that!" At least not after all we did.

He grinned, "Oh, dear, is he a savage?"

"You can say so," I mumbled to myself. "Though that would make me worse than," I stopped mid-sentence when I realized who I was talking to. Then I grinned viciously, with my jaw clenched, "If you use this incantation of yours to make me talk more again, Achiel Hennis, I'm going to turn you into shadowy dust. And I assure you, that won't be a pleasant death!"

His eyes widened, and only then I realized what I had said, and that he didn't told me his name. "What the fuck?"

I avoided his eyes. "Jay is waiting for you, go."

"How did you-?"

"You should go," I repeated, getting up.

He stepped back. "How do you know all of that?"

"Easy. The shadows can talk, Obsidian. Sometimes it's hard to understand, but others they speak crystal clear in my ears." I improvised and smirked to make an impact, and I swear the dude's face turned pale. "Is your damn curiosity satisfied? Now, get out!"

"And I thought he was the insane one," he mumbled and left right away, clearly shook.

When the door closed again, I let out a breath of relief, "God, that was hard." Then I looked down at the food and the wine, "Ugh, now I'll take to regain all my energies again. I shouldn't have used it again, after I used it earlier. But it was all I could do to help him out," I said to myself, finishing my meat, and then I took his plate and began to his too. "What an exhausting men that Achiel Hennis is. In the novel he was fine, but as I'm not close to the leads, it'll be hard. He can be a pain, can't he?"
