Chapter 58: The ‘Ex Talk’

Charles' POV: I knew Jade has dated people before, but why would she get involved with someone like that? I looked at Jade and said, "You're ex boyfriend?" She nodded her head with an ashamed look. Josh said, "Oh don't be so ashamed sweetheart! You know you love me." Jade looked like she was about to kill him, literally, so I cut in and said, "Jade, a word in the kitchen please?" She nodded and followed me to the kitchen. On the way I heard Jade whisper to Elizabeth saying to keep him in the living room. Once we entered the kitchen Jade walked over to the fridge and pulled out a blood bag. I asked, "What's that guys deal and why are you so worked up about it?" She answered after a minute or two and said, "Josh is my ex boyfriend. But he's also really nosy, he was always the 'perfect' guy around my dad so I bet they still keep in touch about me. Including that I'm dating you, I told my dad that I was doing good out here because I had you. I guarantee Josh was jealous or something and either wants to get me back, or kick your ass. It's hard to tell." I started pacing around the room a little bit and replied, "Is there anything else I should know about you two? This Josh guy seems pretty obsessive when it comes to you." A tear ran down Jade's cheek, I quickly walked over and wiped it away as she said, "Josh wanted to have sex with me but I told him no, repeatedly over the couple years we dated. I got together with him when I was 15. He never really cared about me, and whenever I'd try to break up with him he'd start threatening to kill himself so I always stayed with him. One day we were upstairs in my room at my house and he started pulling my clothes off, I didn't want him to. Josh wouldn't stop, and nobody was home to help me, we didn't have any neighbors either, I screamed and cried the entire time he was kissing my body. We never actually had sex, but it was close. I never knew who, but someone called the cops and they broke open the locked door of my house and bedroom. They arrested him for rape and abuse towards me. I never really recovered. But I came to Boston right after he got arrested, to see my mom and sister obviously, but also to get away from him. I only had 8 months until he got out, which would be around this time. I was thinking about it last night, how he would somehow figure out where I was and he'd come for me. I just left without a single word to him. It was terrible!" I hugged Jade and said, "I'm so sorry love. I'll never do that to you, I promise." She nodded her head and I pulled away, wiping the tears falling from her eyes. She calmed down after about five minutes. I grabbed her another blood bag and myself one. We drank them as I tried to cheer her up. She said to me, "I have something else I need to tell you Charles." "What is it? You can tell me anything Jade." I replied. She continued, "The thing Elizabeth was about to tell you last night. I'm just gonna hurry and say it okay...I can see the past and the future. I think that's the reason Josh got a 'call' from me last night. I must've called him because I was thinking about him. My deepest regret was not breaking up with him, so I guess, without realizing it, I called him here so I could break up with him." I was confused, rattled, and shocked all at the same time! I couldn't really comprehend what was going on so I asked, "Then why don't we just go back in there and you can say whatever you need to say. Trust me, it'll feel better, plus you're a badass heretic and he's a small-brained human." Jade laughed a little and we were finishing our blood bags when someone opened the kitchen door and said, "What the f*ck are you doing!" I turned and saw Josh standing there with wide eyes and his mouth opened. I looked back at Jade who dropped her blood bag, pulled her fangs out and went full vamp mode on us, and turned around the Josh. He tried turning around and running away but Jade chased after him. Right before he reached the door I heard Jade say, "I've killed two people in this very spot, if you move I'll make it a third!" Josh stood, frozen in his tracks. Elizabeth looked at all of us and said, "I think we all need to have a little chat."

Jade's POV: I grabbed Josh's hand and dragged him over to the couch along with Elizabeth and Charles. Josh asked us, "What the hell are you guys?" I looked at Elizabeth waiting for her to let me know I could talk, she nodded her head so I said, "We're vampires Josh. Demons of the night. Slaves to the sun. Killers. Bloodsuckers. Freaks. Whatever you want to call us!" He seemed fearful but also way calmer than I was. Josh asked, "How do I kill vampires then?" I smiled and said, "A stake in the heart. However, these are all original vampires, the first generation of vampires in the world. 3,000 years old. A stake won't kill them." He laughed a little and then said, "Where's your bathroom?" "Allow me!" I answered sarcastically. I walked Josh to the bathroom and waited for him to get done. I am not risking him getting anywhere else in this house. He opened the door shortly after. We walked down the stairs again. I have a feeling something bad is about to happen, but I can't make out what it is exactly. Oh well...
