"Wonderful Buff, I adore that skill!"
"Come on, Stone Golem, it's your turn; finish this red bozo!"
After several hours,
Inside a spacious waterfall cave the size of a football field,
Hiruma gave a command as he looked at the enemy. The dungeon boss, the merman "Geyzer,"
Even though he was an early-game boss, the merman showed a lot of energy. The bosses had a lot of HP, which was now endurance.
Mermen appeared in Dragon Quest games as silvery blue sea monsters with slightly greenish fins. In contrast, this "Geyzer" was essentially an orange-red palette swap of the monster. His swollen brow was a distinctive feature. He also had a cross-shaped scar from when the crystal ball struck him in the game's plot.
Mermen were the most common creatures in the game's oceans. This cave was occupied by a local tyrant.
He was bossing around the runts in the cave and pulling nasty tricks on the tourists.
It didn't really matter in this case.
Hiruma cheered as the Stone Golem pummeled Geyzer with one final and fortified fist.
The turn-based instance was destroyed, and the environment was restored to normal.
A lot has happened in the last few hours. Notably, the Stone Golem grew stronger by devouring excess monsters Hiruma didn't require.
No, the unit did not become tougher regarding his basic stats. He had surprised Hiruma by assuming control of skills such as the Buff he had cast earlier.
Buff was actually the second of two.
When Hiruma inquired about this enigmatic feature, the system informed him that cannibalism always produced unusual results. Monster cannibalism was no different.
The system preferred not to manage it. Nonetheless, it stated that units could only learn abilities that were compatible with them in this manner. In other words, the Stone Golem learned their Buff skill after eating roasted meat from a Bodkin Archer because his endurance was already incredible. It was an easy transition.
On the other hand, unless he was a master of that type of magic, he couldn't learn Squelch or Snooze skills.
It all depended on Hiruma's monsters' leadership, talents, and diverse skillfulnesses. The prospect of them learning Nen provided the boy with food for thought.
Hiruma stayed in the dungeon for a few hours. Thanks to his Golem's Buff skill, things went mostly well.
Hiruma had saved his Heal* for a rainy day. There were a lot of gains from mob farming with the purchased medicinal herbs that served as life potions in Dragon Quests.
In those eight hours, Hiruma's Mob Drop* and Steal* both reached level 3.
Yes, Hiruma had gone completely nuts here...
He only confronted the boss at the very end.
"Let's see what this guy's got."
Hiruma looked at the wooden crate before the disfigured water trickster as he placed the three units of different builds he used for this battle in the beautiful small world.
This guy didn't look appealing even after a beating.
Hiruma opened the new chest after putting the dizzy merman, who had funny cartoon-like stars hovering above his head in a circle, in the wagon this time.
When you reached level 3, the Mob Drop increased your chances of getting Drops by 10% twice. Hiruma now had a fairly consistent 30% Drop odds.
The chances of getting a good and second drop on the same mob increased by 1% each time.
But Hiruma discovered something strange: elemental spells never seemed to drop. He'd have to go to his exchange store for those.
He didn't need water skills but was hungry for that merman boss's attention.
The system, on the other hand, had its own ideas. So far, it has not let Hiruma down.
When the boy opened the chest, he discovered a scroll inside.
"What exactly is this?"
For a brief moment, he was perplexed.
His eyes widened as he unfolded the beige parchment.
"A course? Poseidon? The Merman's advanced class?"
Hiruma had forgotten about such classes in the Dragon Quest series; he hadn't remembered them at all because such classes didn't exist...
"Or is this system free to do whatever it wants?"
The child pondered.
He shrugged after a few seconds and read the class details; it appeared to be a rare drop, even among the good ones.
Poseidon? At the very least, the arrogant name of the class was memorable... What are the properties of water, liquids, and ice? Chemical or water fiend allure? Are those some complicated charms? I can't learn spells independently, but there are some advantages, such as water and ice resistance, underwater breathing, and improved swimming... Wait, you're talking to fish? What?!"
"I'm not sure how to use this right now, but it's good, and it won't stop me from taking other classes later."
It was unique. But, grimacing as Hiruma remembered a similar character from another verse, Hiruma absorbed the scroll in his abdomen. Right away.
He wasn't a fan of water, but he wasn't stupid or in a position to spit on free abilities. He was relieved to leave the dungeon, although he couldn't see or feel any obvious changes.
Hiruma chuckled as he teleported away, recalling something. His future dream of subduing and commanding a Blastoise or something similar would not be a fantasy. At the very least, he had a plan.
Hiruma was not Killua; his training program was easier in some ways, and he did not complete his education before dying.
But, recalling common sense, he seemed to discover that water-based liquids were electrically conducive? Or was he mistaken?
Yet another thought...

Hiruma counted his gains during this night expedition in his small world, with the monster units running around excitedly.
"The most basic drops are various status items. Herbs, antidotes, and the like. I've even gotten dumb drops like cow dung and hides used for Dragon quest equipment and weapons. I'm most pleased with the Steal* skill and the Poseidon* class. I didn't steal any skills from the mobs this time, but the system said I could steal anything. Elemental spells, too."
"It could be because it isn't yet at a good level. I'll work harder because it's my only way to learn elemental skills. I'll wait until I can't remember all my abilities, hehe..."
Hiruma paused his happy laughter and drew a weapon from his infinite inventory. It was crafted from bronze.
Hiruma reasoned that he could go for an assassin build because the weapon was indestructible, and he was essentially a killer.
He was different from Killua, and he couldn't learn yo-yo tricks. It was a mid to long-range weapon for his brother. Hiruma wouldn't need it because he'd have long-range spell-casting weapons.
He was only thinking about concentrating some minimal efforts on his Zoldyck claws.
Enhancers and the Nen types closest to it believed their bodies should be used as weapons in the original. Of course, Hiruma would train his body to be a weapon, but as an Earthling, he knew better. Why torture your body in combat when you have better weapons to improve with Nen?
In this world, humans also used atomic bombs.
Humanity's driving force was technology.
"There was speculation that this Hunter X Hunter world was Jupiter or another planet..."
Hiruma paused for a moment to reflect.
He then shrugged.
Even if it was true, it had nothing to do with logic.
"I'll get better knives along the way, but Kikyo mentioned enhancers being able to refine weapons, didn't she? She claims that manipulators also do it."
"I'm curious to see how that works."
With a final thought, Hiruma added his small hoard and bronze knife to the inventory. He then returned to his room.
He was content with spending far too much time in the dungeons doing his thing. Despite not gaining EXP, healing his stamina was the same as recovering from a strenuous footrace session.
There was talent at work. But Hiruma and his monsters were making stamina progress, even if it was only one day at a time.

Morning, somewhere in the Zoldyck Mansion, in a steaming place,
Near the volcano,
"You didn't get up so early this morning to spy on my old widow's body, did you, Master Silva?"
Looking at the Master she essentially raised but still called Master out of loyalty, an elderly woman joked.
Apart from Maha and Zeno, she was the only one who could tease Silva in this way.
She was a tall, bulky woman with a large, round bosom who mostly did nothing. Her graying hair was tied in two pigtails. She wore a formal black suit before stripping naked and displaying her perfectly shaped body without blushing. She also wore a monocle over her right eye at all times.
"You can spare me your old jokes, Tsubone... Put on your clothes again; the assistance I require from you is different."
Silva let out a helpless sigh.
He was standing on top of the paper-thin, high wall, shaking his head, when the woman emerged from her hot bath, declaring shamelessly,
"That's a real shame, master; you're probably missing out on a world you haven't explored. How can I assist you?"
Silva, unfazed, pretended not to hear the obnoxious, shameless proposal and responded,
"I need you to watch Hiruma, my youngest son. After listening to my wife, I noticed something unusual in him last night and this morning. I'm uncertain whether it will be another disaster or not..."
Tsubone furrowed her brow. When she asked, the multicolored, blinding morning light shone through the glass-made monocle on her right eye.
"Baby Hiruma?"
"How strange?"
