Memories

Hiba was breathing hard, she was tossing around in bed. The same nightmare kept on repeating almost every night . Flashbacks from the past where she was hiding with her family in a shelter till the bombing stops . This was pretty much their usual daily routine, whenever there are planes roaming over their city..it means bombing is gonna take place soon afterwards. Humming to a song she was listening to, Hiba tried her best to distract herself from the noises coming from outside the shelter.

She dreamt of a day where she can walk freely in the streets carefree, no bombs, no snipers, no war, just...peace.

She got out of bed and did her morning routine

"Good morning sweetheart" her mom was sipping her morning coffee while listening to her favourite singer Fairouz

"Hmm.." Hiba said groggily .

"Someone is in a happy mood this morning" smiled her mom.."same nightmare?" she asked Hiba

" Yeah"..she sighed and plopped on the couch next to her mom..leaning her head on her shoulder .." I wonder how much time will it take me to get rid of these nightmares"..Hiba said.

" it will take some time but eventually it will go away..dont think too much of it honey"..her mom said while running her fingers through her hair.."when you finally accept the new beginning that , unlike many unlucky people, we were lucky to have"..she smiles adoringly at her daughter.."but you have to know something, these so called nightmares will always be a part of you..in your memory to remind you to be stronger everytime you feel down..and that the best is yet to come"..

Hiba raised her head to look at her mom.."you see, thats the thing..how can you be so sure that "the best" is yet to come..maybe its the "worst"

her mom laughed and said "what makes you think im sure?"..she smiled.."darling, im as uncertain as you are if not more. But we gotta keep holding onto something, right? besides come on.. considering the circumistances and how far we have come, i would say im almost certain that things will get better"..her mom got up putting an end to the daily discussion that she got used to hearing from her daughter.."let's go make breakfast"..stretching out her hand to her daughter. Today is Hiba's day off thats why her mom didnt want to wake her up early.

Hiba ,33 years old, started working in a nearby Private school . She is an English teacher who loves her job alot . Eventhough the salary is okay, but its not like she can complain , job positions for immigrants are not that welcoming , you can sense the irony in the sense of the word "welcome". So when she got the job at this school, she was happy that she could help her family during those hard times

She treasured her family the most, after many unfortunate incidents that took place in her life..most of which the one that devastated her the most, her divorce...
