Chapter 197 : Death 3

After listening to the entire story of Merlin, which was much more than Orion anticipated, he was lying on the top of the roof with a complicated face. 

He just got the worst background story filled in in his head by the old man and now he had a headache. 

'I knew that the situation is not as good as its look but shit, this is too much,' Orion almost cursed and spat. 

Merlin long-stop speaking and even vanished after giving his side of the story. Only now does Orion realize that the situation is a lot more complicated. 

But in a nutshell, everything revolves around power. 

"Merlin talked about everything but just left one very important thing behind while teaching me, something which technically is not even needed to say as it's very common but that was the loophole and that's why I never consider it. 

What he never said to Orion was, no matter what kind of order, law or other shit. Everything can be broken as soon as there is enough power at work. 

Against pure raw power, no trick works. 

This universal truth always reigns supreme no matter which universe.

Here is a question, would Saitama's punch kill Gojo?

If you had asked me this just yesterday, I would have surely said Gojo easily trumps this. There is no way Saitama can touch him. I was a little bit of a Gojo fanboy as well.

But now, I personally believe that Saitama will win. 

Why?

POWER.

If Saitama's powers is really limitless, pun intended, then can Gojo really stop him? I mean no matter what his own curse technique is called, the man still has limits right,' Orion ponders.

This was the exact thing that was going on in his mind right now. He himself wasn't sure why he was thinking about Gojo and Saitama but it's kind of suited to explain what he was feeling right now.

The situation is very similar to what would happen if they both fight. The result of the fight depends on how one interprets the rules of their powers. 

Merlin told him that breaking the law or order in the world is impossible, there is no one who can do it and the last person who tried it, death in this case, paid a heavy price. 

But only now does he learn that if there is enough power then even those orders and laws can be broken.

Last time Death didn't have enough Chaos or Magical power to completely break the Order, but she partially succeeded. 

That's the only reason why she was able to exist even after dying. Took the position of death and did nothing but rule the Law of Death.

She is still cursed though, she too can perish if the source of power she is feeding on cut's off. In this case, it will be the soul of others. 

Which is completely impossible considering no one can stop people from dying. But that novelty only extended up to sustaining her own existence in a very weak state. 

In reality, she won't have any power besides being a small parasite who lives for an eternal lifetime. 

It's no wonder that she took that long to act, she must have gathered power slowly for ages to act back in 500 BCE and manipulate Herpo the Foul.

Human civilization itself is not recorded for more than 3000 to 4000 years, and that is only the recorded time. According to Merlin, Wizards had a very developed civilization even before that.

Now Orion even suspects that it wasn't an asteroid which completely extinct the dinosaurs.

So yeah, She ain't going anywhere even if she lost her source of power and even lost all of her power. 

The only way to stop her is to kill her. 

But how?

Merlin hasn't explained yet, but Orion could see the signs. After all, he wasn't just sitting on the top of the roofs of Hogwarts after hours when Merlin left after completing his story. 

Orion was thinking, going back to Memory Palace and trying to replay all of his conversations with Merlin, which were a lot but navigating them was easy. 

And the only thing which he found useful in his conversation which might give Orion any clarity of the situation was one line from Merlin.

"Space, Time and Matter together can bend reality. Infinitely close to breaking the Natural Order." 

These words resounded in his mind.

He couldn't help but feel that all this time, Merlin was pushing him towards the same thing that Death did back then. 

Merlin said that he fought with Death and it was a tie.

Or that was a pretty way of saying it. 

Merlin died back then in that fight while preventing Death from getting her hands on the Rebirth of Magic. 

That was the only win for the old man, he was able to save the world from being destroyed by death. 

Well, that is considered a big deal but still, it was nothing but a temporary setback for Death. 

She only had to wait for another 1000 years and she now can get her hands on Rebirth Of Magic. Due to her holding the power of the successor, she can find the place and time when it gonna happen. 

Meaning the world is doomed if someone can't stop that maniac in time. And Orion had a very bad feeling that this someone had to be him...

Who else could it be, the guardians who used to do this are long gone. 

After losing their strongest sorcerer, aka Merlin, Death went after them immediately. 

"Sigh," Orion just put his head back on the roof surface, there was a serious headache coming to him. 

"Space, Time and Matter together can bead reality. Infinitely close to breaking the Natural Order." 

Again this line rang in his voice, he was sure that these three laws were necessary to stop death now. 

Because Merlin himself didn't master all of them but he can person all of them. 

Orion couldn't help but ponder that to fight someone who had broken the order once, he also had to be someone who could break the natural order. That was the only way. 

And there comes the temptation of actually breaking the order and gaining the ultimate power. 

"I was thinking of taking it easy but fuck it. 

I need to have all those three Laws down by the time she comes or I and this planet are doomed. 

FUCK..." Orion all but shouted. 

He knew that it most of it is just him thinking things but he couldn't help but almost consider the fact that Merlin from the very start was pushing him towards this.

And then there are things that even Merlin himself doesn't seem to understand.

Like the presence of that one white hair girl in the US or the accidents happening all around the world.

None of it was in the Movies or Books.

"Sigh, just leave it," 

Orion just let it go and close his eyes.
