How to be a Shadow

Monday 12th September 2022.

It was the beginning of the last School Year and from here on it would be a tough journey for him. Surprisingly, he thought the same on the day everything began and ended. But back then he thought it would be a different reason, see for yourself...

While Anton was riding the Subway he thought about what he will do when School is finished, and he will have to work. Without him knowing he slowly muttered out to his friend "It will be tough don't you think?"

"Huh? You're talking to me?"

"Yes weren't you listening?"

"No, I was watching the highlights of the game yesterday. What were you talking about?"

"Just how tough life will be after school"

"Huh? You're already thinking about that just enjoy this year will ya."

The one he was talking to was Ben one of his best friends he is 170 cm tall and has blond hair. Anton wanted to answer Ben, but the latter was too focused on the game he was watching. Anton was scared about life after school. Just as he wanted to ask Ben about the game he was watching.

~Next stop is Brühl City Center ~

They stood up and left the train as they were walking down the stairs of the Central station a man in a black coat came running up like he needed to get the train and whispered to Anton" It'll be fun from now!" he was confused and tried to grab the man, but he already couldn't see him anymore. Suddenly Ben held his arm and he looked at him.

"Be careful you almost fell down the stairs"

"Thanks. By the way, did you also hear what the man said?"

"No, I didn't hear anything"

It was a short answer, but it was just like Ben, Anton looked at him and was about to say if he even was living in the same world as him. But then he heard someone calling them.

"Hey Ben, Anton come over here!"

It was his second friend Luca he was a little shorter than Ben, and he had dark brown hair. Both of them went straight to him crossing the Bus station, and walked towards the old bridge on which Luca stood and waved his hand.

"Hey, Luca how were your holidays?"

"They were great I got a girlfriend what about you Anton?"

"I didn't get a girlfriend, but my holidays were great too."

"And you Ben?"

"Yeah, mine was good except that I failed in the football academy."

"What? You for real?"

"Yep!"

Ben is a great footballer, but he has a really bad temperament. His coach didn't like it and let him fail.

"Ben Luca there is our Bus"

"He isn't late today"

Normally the bus is 5mins late, but today the bus was on time, maybe because it is because of the new school year. Who knows? Not Anton or his friends. The Bus takes 6mins to get to their school when he looked out the window Anton saw many students, some were smiling and talking to their friends and some were making sad faces and some are walking alone.

When they got closer to the school, there were more and more students walking and forming a bubble.

The Bus stopped and they walked out.

"We are now the oldest ones, aren't we!"

"Yeah, finally no one can toss us around anymore!"

"Yeah, I guess it'll be fun"

They all went to get their Timetable and like the other years, they all were in the same class.

It didn't take long for them to find their classroom and when they looked in, they could see that they were the last to arrive. Luckily the teacher wasn't there.

While looking around Anton realized that he didn't know anyone from the other students. It seems like the others noticed it too, and while sitting down Ben said.

"Hey boys, I don't know anyone here what about you?"

Anton replied, "Me neither."

Ben and Anton looked at Luca he slowly opens his mouth and was just about to say something.

"Eyyyy~ if it isn't Mister oh so great Luca"

A tall muscular man was standing there. I would say he is about 180 cm tall and like me 18 Years old.

"Hey, Tom what do you want?"

The face of Tom was now really close to Luca's.

"I just wanted to say hi to my sister's Boyfriend."

Before Luca could say anything Ben started laughing, and Anton needed to hold himself back to not laugh. It was already enough that Ben laughed. Tom's face was really scary he walked toward Ben opened his mouth and in a threatening tone.

"What's so funny?"

Right then the door opened, and the Teacher walked in.

"Everyone sit down now"

Anton sighed and looked at Ben. He knew that they were lucky and that the year will be troublesome if their relationship with Tom stays like that. Before he could say something Luca whispered to us.

"Hey that guy is troublesome he hates me I don't know why, but he always does something like that."

They both nodded to him saying that they understood him and focused on the Teacher.

Since it was the first day they only had school till 1 pm. In the first lesson, they all introduced each other and talked about their holidays, their hobbies, etc. After that, the class had Mathematics, English and at last Religion. Anton's first impression of their religion teacher was that the teacher didn't know what he was doing. Except for one sentence which even now remains in his head somehow.

"Because of the sins, the humans committed all the gods came to earth to destroy and rebuild it."

He was now at home it was 8 pm, and Anton was playing on his phone and watching a movie on the TV. It was a movie about a man who could throw a hammer and control lighting. It was a good movie. While laying on his bed he thought about what happened today. From the man in the black coat to Tom and the football practice. He was slowly closing my eyes and when he opened them again he was on his bed surrounded by a dark abyss.

He couldn't believe his eyes and rubbed them a few times, questions filled his head. Did I die and reincarnated like in some novel? The last thing he remembered, was that he fell asleep, just in case he slapped himself on his cheek. It hurt, so he concluded that this wasn't a dream. But he wasn't sure about the other thing.

So he just asked the message about his head.

"Did I die?"

No answer so he asked again.

"Did I die?"

...

...

...

No answer again. Since it got boring, Anton thought of questions to ask someone who you met for the first time, and like you normally do when you meet someone for the first time he asked.

"Who are you?"

...

It was silent for a long time before he got an answer, and with that answer, a being appeared before him. That being was pure white light and brought light into the dark abyss.
