Date with Rimuru (2)

Their food arrived, and they enjoyed a leisurely meal, talking about everything from their latest adventures, their current progress, to even their hopes for the future

Adam found himself relaxing more than he had in a long time- affected by Rimuru's infectious energy.

"So, Adam..." The slime girl began, her eyes sparkling with curiosity "How was your second life at the start?"

Adam's smile faltered for a moment. He took a sip of his tea, gathering his thoughts.

"It wasn't good," he finally admitted, his voice quieter.

….

Perhaps she wanted to find a common thing they both shared for the topic of their next conversation

The silver-haired boy wasn't that bothered by it….

Though it was uncomfortable to talk about his current life, he was willing to do so if it was someone who had also experienced the same phenomenon

Rimuru tilted her head, her brows knitting together in concern. "Eh? Why?"

Adam sighed, rolling his eyes slightly as he considered how to explain.

"It's obvious," he said, a hint of frustration in his tone. "I knew the dangers of the world I was born into, but I was just a normal human. No powers, no genius intellect, and no opportunities to elevate myself."

He paused, looking down at his hands. "In the end, my situation was hopeless. I spent years feeling like I was just... stuck."

The blue-haired girl listened intently, her expression thoughtful.

"Is that so...?" She murmured, almost to herself.

"Yeah," The silver-haired boy continued, a hint of bitterness creeping into his voice. "It took sixteen years for the Chat Room to appear and give me the opportunity to obtain extraordinary powers. Until then, I was just... surviving."

….

Indeed. People often think of Reincarnation as a second chance at life- where you could undo your mistakes, and use your knowledge to obtain everything you desire

Yes, that is possible

However….. It isn't as easy as people make it out to be

Reincarnating in another world- a fictional one no less- won't make one's dreams automatically come true

If one doesn't have the means and the willingness to achieve his wishes…. Then they will live the same way- like their previous life before reincarnation

Just because you have the memories of your previous life doesn't make you invincible.

And of course, if all you have are your previous experiences…. Then what are the chances that you'll thrive- much less survive in a more dangerous world?

Having foreknowledge would indeed help in avoiding dangers and taking advantage of various opportunities

But again… If you are in a world like Honkai Impact or Warhammer 40k, then even one's knowledge and experiences aren't enough to survive

Of course, that is assuming that one had a normal birth and a normal family which didn't give them an innate advantage from the moment they were born

'It is possible'

Thriving in a new yet familiar world is possible. But before that, one has to learn to survive

….

Rimuru reached across the table, placing her hand gently over his. She looked at him with golden eyes shining, as if trying to comfort him

"I see what you mean," She said softly. "Compared to me, who instantly gained powerful unique skills after death, your situation sounds miserable."

Adam looked up, meeting her gaze. There was…. a lot of sincerity in her golden eyes- it surprised him

"It wasn't all bad," He said, a small smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. "The Chat Room did change everything. It gave me a chance to grow, and the opportunity to exit the influence of my world"

The powers of his world were all connected to honkai.

No matter how powerful the silver-haired boy became, he would always be limited by honkai, and the Imaginary Tree by extension

Thankfully, he had the option of obtaining powers from entirely different verses…. So that was not a problem

The slime girl nodded, squeezing his hand.

"And look at you now!" She said, smiling brightly "You've come so far!"

"Yeah, I suppose I have." He chuckled "But it wasn't just the power. Meeting people like you, Veldora, Shiraori, and the others... It is an amazing experience, though this whole situation is just like a dream"

….

Truly, obtaining extraordinary powers and meeting his favorite (previously) fictional characters was like a dream- a bubble of fantasy that could burst at the slightest poke

His life up until the Chat Room arrived was too… realistic? Filled with pragmatism?

There were no words to describe it.

But it was like living in a more technologically advanced world…. The only way to truly confirm the existence of honkai and affirm that this was an entirely different world was Bianka

With the way she beat his ass and could bend steel like paper….

Yeah, it was his only confirmation that this world wasn't just another normal world with familiar characters….

-But it was truly the world of Honkai Impact 3rd- the one where any wrong move could spell doom, for both himself and the world

...

"Hey! I'm glad I met you too, Adam!" Rimuru smiled, a soft expression on her face that showed…. affection? "You've become an important part partner of mine!"

The silver haired boy smiled, saying nothing more

They sat in comfortable silence for a moment, needless words were left unsaid

After a while, the slime girl spoke up again, her tone lighter. "Well, at least you didn't have to spend your time in a dark cave,"

She joked, trying to lighten the mood.

"I had you and Veldora to keep me company, but it was still pretty lonely before I met you"

"Haha…" Adam laughed lightly "Yeah, I guess I got off easy in that regard,"

"Though I'm not sure how I would have handled a giant dragon as a roommate." He teased her

Though is was indeed a problem….

-Adam didn't want a huge dragon watching him when he was being intimate with people

The blue-haired girl grinned, her eyes twinkling mischievously. "He's not so bad once you get to know him. Just a bit... overwhelming at first."

"Perhaps you could tame him with light novels and manga?" He narrowed his blue eyes, giving his fellow partner a suggestion

"Already on that!"

She smiled brightly once again, sending a thumbs up his way

"...."

Adam rolled his eyes at how she had already started corrupting Veldora

He went back to his meal, picking up a fork and deciding to finally finish the food right in front of him

'Making Veldora the storm dragon a Weeb…. Yeah, that worked even in the Tensura anime, so there is no reason for it not to work in real life too'

..

.

As the evening wore on, they finished their meal and left the café, stepping back into the vibrant city streets.

The night was still young, and as they walked side by side, Adam felt a sense of wonder.

He glanced at Rimuru, who was chattering excitedly about their next destination, and couldn't help but smile.

In this moment, surrounded by the lights and sounds of the city, with Rimuru by his side, the silver-haired boy felt something he hadn't experienced in a long time: actual romantic interest and affection.

…..

Yes, he did enjoy his date with Mei, and he likes her... But that emotion is just too superficial

It was the same in his previous life. Adam never felt deep love for another person beyond his family

Relationships in his previous life were too…. superficial and purposeless

Sure, he had girlfriends. But in his mind, they were only useful for the experience of having a romantic partner itself, and…. the sex

To Adam, having a relationship with a pretty girl was just a novel experience. He did like the other party, but it was just that- simple liking with no deeper emotion

And because he didn't want to stay a virgin forever….

He sought out relationships- whether that was an actual girlfriend or friends with benefits. To him, it didn't matter- as long it was a fresh experience that could attract his interest

Life was much more enjoyable with people surrounding you.

-That was what the silver-haired boy had learned- some experiences are far more pleasant with company

And that is exactly why he now values genuine interactions

This date with Rimuru was far more pleasant than he expected

The silver-haired boy won't claim that he loves Rimuru….. However, he definitely has feelings for her

Perhaps it would evolve into actual love…. Or perhaps it will not

In the end, he will go with the flow- leaving things to develop naturally

..

.

At night, they strolled through the streets towards the market.

The air was filled with the scent of spices and the sound of vendors calling out their wares.

The slime girl's eyes darted from stall to stall, taking in the array of goods on display.

She paused at a jewelry stall, admiring a delicate golden necklace adorned with a small sapphire.

"It matches your eyes," Adam noted, his eyes darting between the necklace and the girl

Rimuru smiled up at him. "Do you think I should get it?"

"Sure," he replied, shrugging "It suits you."

With Adam's encouragement, Rimuru purchased the necklace, and they continued their exploration.

They sampled local delicacies, admired handmade crafts, and even tried their hand at a few traditional games, much to Rimuru's delight.

As they continued on this date, one thought was going through Adam's mind

'As expected….. Despite everything, she is still a woman, and her obsession with shopping is as intense'

It was a common thing among women

The silver-haired boy honestly didn't think that Rimuru would be the same

He didn't know why she would be different….. With the slime's loli body and his knowledge of canon Rimuru, he expected her not to have this same habit

Again, this was a slap to the face- another case where his foreknowledge was different, if not useless

Adam should have expected something like this at this point as he had gotten used to this phenomenon…..

-But even though it was a small matter, it was still annoying

..

.

As they stepped into the quiet open space on the outskirts of the city, the gentle hum of the city's nightlife faded into the background.

Rimuru and Adam stood side by side, the cool breeze ruffling their clothes and hair.

The moment felt charged with anticipation, the kind that comes with the promise of something extraordinary.

The slime girl turned to him, a playful sparkle in her eyes.

"I think it's time for a new perspective," She said with a grin.

Before Adam could respond, Rimuru's form shifted subtly. From her back, a pair of bat-like wings emerged, dark and sleek, catching the faint light of the city.

Adam watched with a raised eyebrow, his own back tingling.

And in an instant, similar wings sprouted from his shoulders, unfurling with a soft rustle.

"Well, I didn't expect you to have this in mind" the haired boy remarked, a knowing light in his eyes

"Hehe…." The blue-haired girl chuckled, her wings flexing as she tested their strength. "I thought some flight might make the night more interesting."

"Damn right"

He grinned at her, quite pleased that she took the initiative to propose something like this

So-

With a shared nod, they both leapt into the air, their wings catching the wind effortlessly.

They soared upward, the ground rapidly falling away beneath them.

The sensation of flying was exhilarating; the rush of air, the freedom of movement, and the sheer thrill of seeing the world from above filled them with joyous energy.

As they ascended, the city of Mistral spread out below them, a dazzling mosaic of lights and colors.

The buildings, streets, and parks all merged into a vibrant, living tapestry. The lanterns and streetlights cast a soft glow, illuminating the city's distinctive architecture and bustling life.

They hovered side by side, their wings beating rhythmically in the cool night air.

Rimuru looked over at Adam with a broad smile, her golden eyes gleaming with excitement.

"Isn't this incredible?" She called out over the wind, her voice clearly conveyed

"Indeed" Adam nodded, a similar smile on his face. "Flying in order to enjoy the scenery better with another person… It is an amazing experience

He replied, smile brightening as his voice held an awed tone

They floated there for a while, taking in the breathtaking view.

The city's energy pulsed from beneath, a blend of neon lights, moving vehicles, and the distant murmur of people going about their lives.

It was a perspective that few ever experienced, and it felt magical, almost surreal.

"This feels a bit like that dream date we talked about previously" The slime girl glanced at Adam, her expression softening

"Flying through the sky, just the two of us." She said in a low voice, her voice gentle

"Yeah, it does" Adam turned to her "Even without Veldora, this is... great"

…..

He agreed with her

You can absolutely be sure that you can further your relationship with somebody when they actually listen to you…. and try to satisfy you

So the girl beside him heard his ideal date scenario and tried to implement it, even without Veldora

That effort by itself deserves praise. She tried to make this date more enjoyable for him, so….

'Definitely a good waifu. I have to wife her up'

Adam couldn't help but humorously think in his mind

….

After all these thoughts passed through his head, he decided to take action.

He reached out, and Rimuru took his hand, their fingers intertwining.

They hovered there, suspended between the stars and the city lights, sharing a quiet, intimate moment.

No words were shared

Instead-

They looked at each other, sharing a smile, the city lights reflecting in their eyes as they continued to fly, side by side.

The night sky stretched out above them, vast and full of starlight, while the city below pulsed with life.

But of course-

After a while, they ultimately descended back to the ground. The feeling of exhilaration remained even after that though

They could have stayed longer. But eventually, all good things must come to an end

AN: Reading this once again.... It feels cringe

Not as cringe as the date with Mei.... But still cringe

..... I suppose I am just not good with Romance

By the way, the Rwby arc stretched longer than intended, so after this, we are speeding things up a bit
