Chapter 24 Lost Opportunity

Fang Ming was still handcuffed and being lifted by the collar looked at the police captain with a nonchalant expression and said in a calm tone:

"What does your police image have to do with me, you just wait once my family heard about this in Hong Kong and contact your higher ups, your miserable life will be flipped upside down".

The angry police captain who was expecting Fang Ming to feel guilty for ruining the Guang Zhou police department image. he was thinking in his mind how to urge Fang Ming to cooperate with him to reduce the negative impression this foreigners got on the Guang Zhou police department but Fang Ming next words stunned him.

Fang Ming however was adamant on escalating this incident and blowing it up, he kept provoking both the police captain and the foreign guests in the international hotel coupled with the two Soviet guys Senchenko and Makhachev who just wanted to see some excitement joining in the fun and shouting loader than anyone there, thing were starting to get out of hand.

Fang Ming who saw the police captain angry face and clenched fists know he had succeeded he provoked the police captain further by showing him a triumphant smile and daring him to punch him.

However at this time one of the police officer who previously searched Fang Ming rushed over to the police captain and stooped him from acting recklessly by showing him Fang Ming passport.

When the police captain who was on the verge of exploding saw Fang Ming Hong Kong passport his anger vanished instantly and followed that a deep fear of what could have happened if he didn't stop in time and proceeded to punch him.

Fang Min wasn't a Chinese citizen like he thought instead he was a foreigner, in this era going to court to sue a foreigner will always end up with the foreigner wining the case because China was trying its best to attract business mans from around the world to enrich its economy it gave foreigners some extreme and attractive offers and even some privileges so unless there is a solid evidence or some special cases taking a foreigner to court is just asking for trouble from the justice system its self.

As for punching a foreigner in front of the international hotel and in front of all this foreign business mans from all around the world, well being a police captain wont help you in this case it may even drag you deeper.

But what really scared the police captain wasn't Fang Ming being a foreigner no it was Fang Ming's Hong Kong passport, at this time the Sino British negotiations which will decide the transfer of Hong Kong to China was already in it's second year.

Although the transfer has been a forgone conclusion that everyone already knows about, China didn't dare to relax its guard while the details are still being negotiated in fact Fang Ming knows that China will keep treating Hong Kong business mans extremely well for the next 15 years to come to ensure receiving a stable Hong Kong.

With the Chinese government doing everything they can to appease the Hong Kongers and let them integrate back in China, offending a Hong Kong business man may not really have a serious consequences but miss treating one and handcuffing him without evidence in front of the people from all around the world will not only give the British some handles on China but even the people from Hong Kong who are still hesitant about integrating back in the Chinese circle will receive a big fright over there future.

The police captain didn't dare throw that punch at Fang Ming no matter what the latter said because throwing that punch at Fang Ming mean throwing a slap in the face of the central government which he has already offended by handcuffing a Hong Kong businessman without evidence, because he knows he may end up losing his job for the later he will definitely pay a dear price for the former.
