"Mrs. Eric, Young Master Eric asked me to wake you up at 9:00am."
Katherine woke up to a maid's voice. She sat up and stretched her arms above her head for a while, her eyes scanning the spacious room in search of Eric. "Oh… he has gone to work?"
"Yes, he doesn't joke with his work. He would rather starve all day than not work for a day," the maid replied.
'But he spent three days in the hospital. Did he do that for me?' She thought.
She stood up and stretched again. She regretted sleeping on the couch instead of the couple-sized bed. Now, her whole body was aching.
"Hey… sorry, what's your name?" She asked the maid.
"I am Sarah, ma'am," the lady said with her gaze lowered.
"Sarah, could you get me medicine for body ache? My whole body is aching as if I worked all night," Katherine said, a frustrated look on her face.
"I will go get it in a jiffy," she said and headed out for the medicine.
After Sarah left, Katherine managed to walk up to the closet. She tried to find a dress to wear to visit Mirabel, but couldn't find one. There was no way she could put up with this unpredictable family.
Reminded of last night, she just couldn't understand; one moment they are kind to each other, the next they are cold and want each other out of sight. Even though she understood that no one wants to be left out in the fight to become the heir, must they give each other the cold shoulder? After all, they are family.
"Ma'am, here is the medicine. I call it OMD (one minute doctor)," Sarah said before she handed the medicine over to her.
Katherine, who was also familiar with the medicine since she always overwork herself at the office, took the medicine from her and swallowed two pills afterward. She gulped down the glass of juice Sarah got her too.
"Ma'am, how is it?"
Katherine smiled before she turned to face Sarah. "Sarah, this medicine used to be my best friend at work… I have never for once doubted it," she said, a bright smile on her face.
"Wow, me too. Thanks to this medicine, my body aches were always relieved," Sarah replied.
"Me too. Like, I can't believe we have almost the same similarities. Can we be friends?" Her last words made Sarah's eyes widen. Katherine, who had no one to talk to in this mansion aside from Eric, found it better to have a friend who would keep her company.
"Me? A maid? That must be a joke," Sarah laughed at Katherine's request.
Katherine walked up to her before she took her hands into hers. "Sarah, please be my friend. Since you are the only one I can talk freely to because I am unfamiliar with the other maids, can't you be my friend?"
Seeing the desperation to befriend her in Katherine's eyes, a sly smile made its way to Sarah's lips. Katherine was just as Avery told her– an open book, which everyone can read through and predict.
Now that she has successfully became an important person to Katherine, it will only take a short while before she destroys Katherine.
"Hmm… I will be your friend."
"Thank you, Sarah," she said, giggling. "Ahem, where can I get a dress around this street? I can't wear the dress in the closet, they are too revealing."
Aside from the one she was putting on, the rest are above knee length and too revealing. Maybe they filled the closet with such dresses just so she could entice Eric. Jaylen family and their dramas!
"Dress? The dresses in the other closet aren't too revealing," Sarah informed her.
"Isn't that closet supposed to be for Eric?" She asked with curiosity laced in her voice.
"Eric just got that closet this morning. He got it for you. This other closet, which contained abnormal dresses will be emptied and filled with Eric's dress."
Katherine exhaled deeply by the fact that he still got her dresses after they went to sleep without saying a word to each other after their conversation.
'He really has a knack for good things,' she said inwardly as she made a pick out of the dresses. She put on the black babydoll gown and black block heels in match.
After she was done dressing up, she checked herself out in the mirror. She was indeed as beautiful as ever, even without makeup.
"Sarah, I will pay my friend a visit. Please clean my room up and put everything in order," with that said, she took her purse and walked out.
"Friends? Do friends act like slaves to each other?" Sarah asked herself as she watched Katherine left.
After Katherine left, she waited a few minutes before she walked out of the room. She headed to Avery's room.
After she got to her friend's room, she did not bother to knock before entering. Sarah and Avery had been friends ever since she took a liking in her brother.
Inside Avery's room which was designed with different aesthetics, she was applying her makeups all by herself.
"Avery, another shot? Won't you rest? Like, you have been working all through the week, won't you take a break?" Sarah asked, worried that her health might deteriorate.
"Don't worry about me. Is our plan going as it is supposed to?" Still focused on her makeups, Avery asked.
"Yes. You are right about her. She is just like an open book. I can't believe she befriended me when she just met me for the first time," Sarah chuckled as she recalled everything that happened inside Katherine's room some minutes ago.
Avery turned to face Sarah with a curl smile curved on her lips. "This is the reason you are the best person for this," she said warmly.
"Also, make sure you make no mistake so as to be the mother of Jaylen's first grandson," Avery added before she stood up, ready to leave for her shot.
