Fifteen years ago, David would have never expected to see his high school crush again, not here anyway, working on his air conditioner with a child waiting inside.

His son. His child.

He still didn’t know how he felt about Kaden being here, right now, in front of him. Being nice, friendly. Like he used to be when they were best friends in high school.

But everything changed with that one big argument.

I guess life is one big magic curveball.8

As soon as Kaden arrived home, he crated Ginger after a quick walk. He had a couple of errands he wanted to run before dinner, and he couldn’t bring Ginger. Luckily, she wasn’t thirsty, having drunk from a bowl that Quinn kept filling with water.

He had to admit David’s kid was cute. He wondered if Emily would have gone along with a surrogate carrying their child, like David and Jason had done with David being the donor.
