Chapter 27: Change
Early the next day, Harry, fully prepared, arrived at Number 13 Privet Drive.
Usually, the first floor of Moonlight Castle at this time should be deserted. Uncle Moon would either still be sleeping or engaged in magical research in the basement.
He would stand outside the door, lightly knock, and then Mr. Lucifer, who controlled the entire castle, would open the door for him.
However, today, as soon as Harry entered the garden, he heard some lively melodies.
The door slowly opened, and immediately, the music became louder. Harry quickly recognized it as the sound of a very popular British band.
Uncle Vernon didn't like music. Every time the TV aired a music program, he would angrily switch channels, muttering things like "Too noisy, a bunch of ear-polluting folks."
Later, Harry saw Uncle Moon's busy figure in the kitchen.
Upon hearing the door open, Moon turned to look at the entrance. Seeing it was Harry, he nodded at him, then turned back to focus on cooking.
"Uncle Moon?!" Harry greeted, somewhat surprised.
"Yeah," Moon responded indifferently.
The low music in Harry's ears came from the phonograph he had fixed while practicing spells.
Mama, just killed a man...
Mama, life had just begun...
Listening to the song, Harry felt everything in front of him was very strange, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.
Then, he shifted his gaze to Lucifer and asked, "Mr. Lucifer, what's going on?"
Lucifer, however, seemed perfectly normal at the moment, lazily responding to Harry's question, "Ah, he got lost!"
"Lost?" Harry was a bit puzzled.
"Yeah." Lucifer didn't want to say much, sinking back into the fireplace.
At this point, Moon brought out breakfast for two. After Harry sat down, Moon said, "From now on, go to the second floor and find a room to use as a study."
"Really?" Harry raised his head in surprise.
"Yeah." Moon nodded. Harry had been studying on the first floor using the large stone table for quite some time, which seemed a bit shabby.
The castle had many empty rooms, leftovers from the sailors who had stayed there before.
The reason Harry hadn't been given a study before was... laziness.
After breakfast, Moon went to the basement. During Harry's cleaning time, he brought out many books from below.
"These are?" Harry looked nervously at the books.
"These are the books you need to read this year." Moon calmly nodded.
Looking at Harry's expression, Moon turned and looked at the books, almost the same height as Harry, with some confusion, "One book a month, isn't that too much?"
Harry nodded stiffly, "Should be... okay."
Clearly, he was uncertain himself.
Watching Harry's expression, Moon wanted to laugh. Then he turned and went upstairs, with Harry following closely.
On the second floor, Moon led Harry to a room of about thirty square meters with a balcony. The room was a bit messy but had no garbage.
Moon waved his hand, and all the miscellaneous items rushed towards the left wall, while the wall split open, creating a large opening. In the blink of an eye, those items were all cleared into the adjacent room.
Only a desk, a chair, and a bookshelf remained.
"If you want to add any items, you can look in other rooms." Moon said, pushing the books towards the bookshelf.
"After cleaning up your room for a day, you can arrange it any way you like, give you a day..."
"Yes!" Harry happily said, "Thank you, Uncle Moon."
...
...
Time passed quickly. Today, the Dursley family had already lit up their lights early, even before the sun rose. Even Dudley had voluntarily gotten out of bed.
Harry sighed slightly as he looked across the street at Number 13 Privet Drive.
The reason was simple; today was the first day of school.
He had to go to school.
Bang, bang, bang, bang—
The loud knocking on the door echoed. Uncle Vernon yelled impatiently from outside, "Get up, you little rascal! Do you want everyone to wait for you?!"
"I'm already up!" Harry shouted back at the door, then quickly began dressing.
His school uniform was the one Dudley used to wear. After Dudley accidentally tore the crotch during a fall, he gave the uniform to Harry.
After tearing the clothes, Dudley even knew that this uniform would end up on Harry, deliberately wearing it and rolling around in the mud with his friends, using watercolor pens to draw on the clothes, and even sticking boogers on them...
"Clean and fresh!"
Thinking of this, Harry helplessly cast a spell on the uniform again.
Skillful movements.
After that, he put on the clothes. Going downstairs, the usual urging came, but without the insults.
This was the change that Uncle Moon brought to this house.
Standing in front of the bathroom mirror, Harry looked at the clothes he was wearing. Thanks to Uncle Moon during the holidays, Harry looked much healthier, barely able to fill out this set of clothes.
He adjusted the collar and looked at himself in the mirror. Suddenly, he felt like something was missing.
His hand unconsciously reached for the comb. Then, he combed his long, messy hair on his forehead.
The very conspicuous scar was revealed.
Through this scar, Harry seemed to see the postures and words of those people at school.
A child with an ugly scar on his forehead was not a good thing.
Especially when this child was also a target of bullying.
That's why Harry, even if he had just cut his hair the day before, it would grow back long and messy the next day.
Because he was afraid of revealing this scar, he needed long hair to cover it!
Harry took a deep breath, hesitated no more, and combed his hair up.
