Chapter 45: Powerful Spell Casting Ability

Due to the continued nightmares, Braun has been unable to sleep at all.

Every single time he falls asleep, he has the same nightmare and wakes up in a cold sweat.

After washing up and putting on the clothes that Dom had placed next to his pillow, he walked out of the bedroom.

It's way too early for Braun to be up and about.

The portraits that used to whisper are now sleeping soundly.

Through the castle's windows, Braun could see the still-dim sky and falling snowflakes. Judging by this weather, the snow won't be stopping today.

But that's normal. If it doesn't snow on Christmas Eve, can it still be considered Christmas?

Seeing these spells, Braun had a hunch that he could cast them even without needing a wand.

"Wingardium Leviosa."

Braun found himself floating in mid-air, then was thrown heavily to the ground.

Dom nervously stepped forward to check.

Helped by Dom, Braun got up from the ground and sat in the chair.

The results of the experiment proved that the talent was worthy of the golden level. It was easier to cast other types of magic, not just dark magic.

At least when he tried the Floating Charm before, there was no reaction at all.

Though he felt something within him move, it was not due to his talent being weak, but in actuality his talent was way too weak.

Another point was that without a wand, he didn't know how to channel the magic after reciting the spell.

A wand was a quasi-sentient magical instrument through which a witch or wizard can channel their magical powers to centralize the effects for more complex results. Most spells were cast with the aid of wands, but spells could be cast without the use of wands.

Consequently, the spell acted directly on his body.

"Looks like I need to get a wand as soon as possible. Otherwise, even if I know the spell, I won't be able to practice it."

Braun thought to himself.

As for silent spell casting, he hadn't thought about it. But that's something you learn in sixth grade.

His own Gold Finger isn't about direct powerups, level up and get stronger, but rather it's about giving him a boost in learning capability and letting him experience the lives and retain a few glimpses of the memories.

Braun murmured to himself

"You can only give yourself a small boost, like learning faster or having more ability to cast spells.

Though it helps, ultimately, it's up to you to manage."

Braun knew his limitations and was fairly self-aware. He knew he wasn't a genius.

So it's better to study step by step and honestly.

That way, you won't go wrong, and you won't be manipulated by Dumbledore's old tricks because they're too long.

Thinking this, Braun's face couldn't help but change.

"Occlumency!"

He realized that Dumbledore might discover his alternate identity.

He is the old pervert that uses Legilimency on basically everyone he meets to evaluate the threat level and on how they can be used for the 'greater good'.

If his crossover and his gold finger is discovered...

The best case option in front of him after being discovered is either being killed on the spot or subjected to Obliviate and becoming Dumbledore's puppet.

Braun couldn't help but shiver.

"However, there's still time... It'll be more than half a year before the invitation for Hogwarts arrives.

After that, I'll have to wait at home for two more months before school starts, and I still have time to study Occlumency and bring up some basic level of shielding."

The difficulty of Occlumency is that there's no one to teach him, and it's rarely known how to learn it.

But in practicality, how difficult is it to learn?

Actually, its not that hard as long as you know how to and have someone to guide you.

Just like Malfoy on the original series, he learned it in a few months under Bellatrix's tutelage.

Thus, It's not that difficult of a magic. The only difficulty is the need for a qualified teacher to teach it.

As for Harry, who took nearly two years to learn to repel Voldemort...

Well, that's a special case.

He is the protagonist and is someone who would not die (at least not permanently) in the entire series due to the plot armor.
