"You're going out with the kids?" she asked and Tang Ning nodded. "Oh, alright. I think I will just come and visit you then. Bye," she said and got back inside the house followed by a frustrated sigh. It wasn't that Tang Ning didn't want to go with her sister but the latter didn't have a good reputation in the eyes of her boss.
Turning to look at Feng Shufen, she said," I will take my leave now." He nodded and when she started walking away, he also walked to his car.
Reaching the car, Tang Ning went to open the front door when the chauffeur told her to sit at the back. Opening the door, she internally gasped on seeing her boss sitting at the back, busy with something on his laptop. She hadn't expected him to be here at all. Getting out of her shock, she climbed inside.
She looked at him and said," Uh, Good evening Mr Jing Yue."
He raised his head to look at her and nodded before saying," I was coming from somewhere along this road and I decided to pass here at once." She nodded and said," Thank you so much. But you didn't have to wait for me."
The chauffeur started the car and they rode off. After some time, she looked at him who seemed to be busy on work. She then looked away and glanced outside the window. Much later, he covered the laptop and kept it away.
She gave him occasional glances and during the entire time, he was looking outside the window. The car was eerily silent and she wondered when they were going to reach their destination.
Jing Yue stared at the buildings that passed one after another while he felt his mood worsening with every passing second. He had come from home to personally pick her up because he realized that he missed her during these past days. He hadn't expected to find her friend at her house and he wondered if it was a mistake coming to pick her up. He turned to check what she was doing and he found her already looking at him. Their eyes met and he looked outside again.
By the time they reached the house, it was starting to darken. Tang Ning watched as they entered the gates of the house and the chauffeur drove towards the parking shade. He got out and came to open for his boss. "It is alright. You can go," Jing Yue told him and he nodded before walking away.
Closing the door, he turned to look at Tang Ning who was going to open the door so that she could leave. "Wait a moment," he said and she looked at him questioningly.
"We need to talk," he said and Tang Ning paused her action before she slowly let go of the door.
She knew that they had a pending conversation about what was yet to happen between them in the kitchen.
"Let me hope that this is a good time for us to talk now that your father is fine." "Yes. We can," she replied. "Alright. Uh, I want you to know that I don't regret what was going to happen between us in the kitchen and that the only thing I regret is not getting to finish what I started," he said and she looked at him with her mouth open. "I don't understand- " "That I regret not being able to kiss you," he said and she looked away from him.
"And I know that you feel the same way," he said.
"No," she said immediately protested. "Yes." "No," she repeated. "No? Why? Is it because you like Feng Shufen?" he asked. "No. Of course not." "Then what?" he asked. "I-I," she failed to come up with anything. "I will tell you this. I don't like it when you ask things from others," he said. "He's my friend," she replied. "I don't care. I want you to depend on me for everything. Only me," he said, clearly showing that he was in a bad mood. "But I don't like depending on anyone for anything," she answered and his eyes narrowed at her.
Realizing that he might be scaring her, he took deep breaths to calm down.
Looking at her, he said," I understand that. But I don't want you to do that anymore when I'm here. I want you to ask everything from me. Even the little things." "I don't understand why," she said looking at him.
"Isn't it obvious? Because I like you," he said and she looked away. She had expected it but now that he had said it, she didn't know how to reply.
"I honestly find it hard to believe Mr Jing Yue," she said. "Why? Tell me what I can do to make you believe me," he said. "I - "
"Pretty auntie!!" came little Huan's small voice which interrupted their conversation.
She looked at him before opening the door and she got out. Huan came running to her side and she hugged her. She carried her and asked," How have you been?" "I have missed you," she replied. "I have missed you so much too. Where's Juan?" "He is watching TV," she said before adding," We have been good children." "Are you sure about that?" she asked and she enthusiastically nodded.
"Alright. I will find out when I get to talk to the auntie I left you with," she said and they walked towards the house.
Jing Yue couldn't believe that they had been interrupted for the second time and he groaned. He watched her as they walked towards the house and before she could enter, she turned to look at him and their eyes met.
After checking on Juan who was happy to see her back, she went to her room. Her mind was occupied with the conversation they just had a few moments ago in the car and she didn't know what to do next. There was no doubt that Mr Jing Yue was an attractive man and that she felt something for him but somewhere she was scared. She thought that he might just be lonely now and later, he may find her boring and give up on her because she didn't have much to offer.
