Scarlet POV
As Micah promised, she walked me to my next class. The hallways were bustling with students, but somehow, her presence made it all feel quieter, calmer. For the first time, I didn't feel alone.
It was strange, this feeling. I was so used to doing things on my own, always keeping people at arm's length. But with Micah by my side, it was different. She wasn't just there, she wanted to be there. And even though I teased her for her overprotectiveness, I couldn't deny that it felt… nice.
She held the door open for me as we reached the classroom, her usual grin on her face. "See? Safe and sound. Mission accomplished."
I rolled my eyes playfully. "You act like I'm some fragile treasure."
"You are to me," she said, her voice light but her eyes sincere.
That caught me off guard. For a moment, I just stared at her, unsure how to respond. My chest felt warm, and my usual sarcasm failed me.
